"I have returned, Isobel, and this time I am calling the shots!"
Ruthless, sophisticated Lorenzo Cicolla had one single, dramatic goal—revenge! Isobel had betrayed him once, and now it was her turn to pay…. But what Lorenzo didn't know was that she'd already paid, in heartache and tears. A cruel vendetta against her father had forced her to sacrifice the one true love of her life…Lorenzo.
Now he was back—and somehow Isobel had to persuade Lorenzo that she wasn't his enemy…she was the bride of his dreams!
Cathy Williams, born in Trinidad and Tobago, is a British author who has written romance novels for Mills & Boon since 1990. She lives in Chiswick, London, with her three daughters and continues to craft engaging, heartfelt love stories.
Heroine’s Wedding Day Hero: Why are you marrying OM? Heroine: Hero: But we’ve had a sexual relationship for a year. We’ve been in love since you were sixteen. Heroine: Hero: Is it because I’m an Italian immigrant? Because the OM is rich? Heroine: Hero: Something to do with your parents? Your father owns a company. Heroine: OM: Sorry, old chap. I’m going to marry this trophy, have sex with other women, and drink heavily.
Four Years Later: Hero: I’m back from Chicago after making a fortune. I heard about OM and your father’s fatal accident. I’m going to buy your father’s company. Heroine: No Hero: No? You finally say something and it’s no? Heroine’s mother: Oh, she means yes. She’ll sell. Hero: Only if she marries me. Heroine: No Hero: Why did you marry OM? Heroine: Hero: Why did you marry OM? Why did you marry OM? Why did you marry OM? Why did you marry OM? Why did you marry OM? Why did you marry OM? Why did you marry OM? Why did you marry OM? Why did you marry OM? Why did you marry OM? Heroine’s mother: We never understood why she married OM. OW: Just flew in from Chicago to do some accounting and some spying. Thought I’d look through a random guy’s desk drawer and find the documents the OM was blackmailing the h with. Heroine: *faints* Hero: *reads* Heroine: now do you understand? Hero: I never want to see you again.
At a Play in London Heroine’s actress bff: Hey heroine come on down. Hey hero, come on down and propose. *H/h on the jumbotron* (figuratively) Hero: Now that I’ve calmed down, I realize you were just trying to protect your father from accusations of embezzlement. But why didn’t you ask your father about it instead of being blackmailed? Heroine: I don’t explain or ask for explanations. Hero: That’s my girl.
Epilogue: *heroine is cleaning out OM’s stuff and finds the rest of her father’s papers* Wow. My father didn’t embezzle. OM kept the evidence clearing my dad’s name. *shrugs* Oh, well. What’s four years of misery when I have a bun in the oven? Reviewer: It was all a dream? For f***k’s sake. Boring and pointless.
Gosh this was tragic. Honestly I felt like they were better of not getting back together- it would have been for the best. The death of husband was too convenient and sad that it’s the only thing that bought them back together. I’m not going even start with epilogue!

Fuggite, sciocchi!
If I hadn't read this one, I would probably said I love all of Cathy Williams. But this one find me grinding my teeth. I didn't read far. When she refused to tell her mother about Lorenzo's attitude. I knew I was not going to like the book. I mean, if it was me even however loud he had shouted, I would have taken off. And even if my mother was sick, I would have given her an account of what transpired in that office. I gather she would marry the dick and be constantly humiliated and savaged. Let''s just say she deserved it for being stupid. It is sad to say that I won't be reading this. I was offered this book in my book club in exchange for His Virgin Secretary. Never read it until now. I couldn't stomach more when the douche proceeded to tell the mother about the refusal to his offer.
The h is stupid, but I have decided that I’m not going to let a stupid h alone spoil the fun of reading a HP, because almost all HP h’s are stupid. So I have not let this stupid h influence my rating.
The H is still in love with her, even though she married another man 4 years ago and even though she refused and still refuses to tell him why she married that other man.
She and that other man never had sex with each other. She says he tried it, but it didn’t work so he went to other woman.
The h was a fool. She never asked her father if the allegations made against him (the other man blackmailed to marry him) were true. She never told her parents or the H why she suddenly married that other man.
The fact that he forgave her stupidity and that he wanted her more than he wanted revenge, must be real love. He wasn’t cruel, he just wanted answers from the h.
Dovevo darle retta. Ma in tutto questo c'è un lato positivo: mi è servito per parecchie sfide di lettura (da brava challenge addicted).
