Emma Sullivan was sensitive to people in a way few others were. She could see what was wrong with E.R. Patients by touching them. Emma kept her ability hidden, fearful of how others might react. Then Dr. Adam Wolf joined the staff, and her secret was no longer safe.
I enjoyed the novel, but the stereotypical Native American elements are a real problem. I know Metcalfe is trying to show how open minded her main character is, but she uses the noble savage trope to do it.
