His diverse work history has taken him across the United States, Mexico and the Caribbean as well as England, and his books are shaped by the people he has known and the places he has visited.
"If I write about a place, it's because I've visited there and either the place or the people left an impression", Bennett said when asked about the inspirations for his books.
He currently resides in Texas with his wife Karren, his Jack Russell Terrier "'Sup", and occasionally his kids as they return from college on breaks. He also spends a lot of time answering questions for his daughter, who lives in Austin.

This is a great whodunnit, perfect for someone who wants a good book that is both a mystery and has really funny sections. It is obvious that the author is a Southern writer and it really shows in this book and another one, The Bottle Tree. The mystery part of this book kept me guessing right up until the end and as to humor I actually laughed out loud in several places. The book was a delightful, light read.

Junebug and the Body is a humorous southern mystery about two pre-adolescent boys (Junebug and Joe Ben) who start their summer vacation with a hilarious bang and when you throw in Uncle Jasper and Jake the dog, it gets even better!
The author put a lot of effort in developing the characters but doesn’t overwhelm you with minutiae. The mystery itself is unique and keeps you engrossed until the final page.
This is a fun read that entertains from beginning to end.

It's an EXCEPTIONAL book but, to be honest, I wrote it and so I might just be a tad prejudiced.
