Astro*Carto*Graphy(r), developed by the late Jim Lewis, revolutionized astrology by transforming the ancient horoscope wheel into a world map that shows at a glance where a person can find love, money, vitality, or even jump-start a fading career - simply by moving to a new location. The Psychology of Astro*Carto*Graphy, based on Lewis writings, notes, and lectures, with additional material by Kenneth Irving, has long been hailed as the definitive work on the subject, and this new edition revises and extends the information found in the original. Detailed explanations of the changes each planet can bring to a particular location help the reader to apply Astro*Carto*Graphy s insights to his or her own life. The book also includes useful notes, an index, historical and technical notes on Astro*Carto*Graphy, a resource section for further study, and afterwords on Jim Lewis, the man and the teacher, and the continuing charitable work that stems from his legac
Jim Lewis, born James Slayden on 5 June 1941 in Yonkers, NY was an astrologer, writer and entrepreneur. He is most well known for pioneering the technique of Astrocartography.
I really enjoyed this book and am happy to dig into these concepts more in depth than I had previously! I wasn't crazy about the women/men differences in interpretations for each line, but overall it's a great book that I hope to always have for a reference.
2/1/24: re-read this for an Astrocartography class I'm currently taking. I agree with my previous review that it's dated but overall it's a great reference book to have on the topic.
As both co-author and publisher, I do wish you would remove that circa 1996 Penguin cover from this entry, and replace it with my 2012 cover, which is better designed and is based on Jim Lewis's own ACG map. The first version of the book has been out of print since the late 90s, when Penguin shelved the entire series it belonged to. The 2012 version was completely redesigned, changed from British to American English, punctuation, and spelling, corrections were made, and quite a bit was added to the first edition. The reviews on Amazon are good, and it has a rating of 4.6 out of 5. Thanks for listening!
I’m not an astrologer, but I’ve become really interested in astrocartography. This book is a perfect introduction for anyone wanting to learn the basics. It gave me exactly what I was hoping for, and even more.
While not a piece of cake to read, no one else has written on this topic that Im aware of so Jim made a very large contribution to the field. Unfortunately for me and living in the US it looks like the only thing that really happens would be Pluto and Saturn moving even closer to my IC. Oh well. If you're thinking of relocating get a free astro-locality chart online and then use this book to check out which planets fall on which angles.
