Austin Lombard is desperate to forget a bad relationship the night he goes out with only one rule in no names. But when he meets a gorgeous, irreverent Scotsman, Austin’s resolve is put to the test again and again as the night goes on. “James” is smart, a great kisser, and everything Austin would want in a date. But Austin resists; he’s had enough of names, and enough of relationships. Hasn’t he?

I loved this. I laughed through the whole story except when I was melting into a puddle of goo. I loved that sneaky Scot. Sexy, fun, sweet... a lovable rapscallion (I used that for you, JL!) And that dialect. *fans self* Austin wasn't too bad, either ;)
Together? They were so awkward, so cute, so flippin' hot. *fans self again*
This short story is all about a one-night stand and I absolutely loved it. It’s the first time I read anything coming from this author; I love her style, her voice and her humor. I spend the first half of the story laughing myself to tears with the witty dialogues between the two characters.
Austin has gone cruising in an effort to move on and stop pinning for his cheater ex-boyfriend. One thing or maybe two, get laid and no names. Period. The Scot he meets at the bar though is, well I just loved him. Witty, constantly making jokes, sometimes really bad jokes that suited his profile perfectly. He’s interesting and alluring and damn that nameless Brit had me engrossed in this story almost against my will.
So of course Austin is attracted; it’s almost like he’s in a spell. The takeoff together and a night unlike most one-night stands start. Thing is (and this is why I loved this author even more) that not everything goes smoothly. There is awkwardness and nerves spilling making this even more realistic, there are hot scenes that are not too much, nothing that makes you think of surreal fantasies taking place. It’s plain brilliant and I adored it; so very rare for a short story.
In this end this is the narration of a one-night stand that has the potential of growing into more and the main character has only to overcome his fears and inhibitions and just give it a go, all wrapped up and written with a very talented pen.
Wow. This is not your typical erotica writer. Scarlett has major writing chops, excellent character insight, fast-paced, humorous dialogue, intelligent details, and sweat-inducing sex scenes. I am freakin' impressed. And not only managed to read M/M in spite of my vanilla-self, enjoyed it immensely.
Oh, this was so charming! It's all witty banter and the awkwardness of a one-night stand, but it managed to hit me right in the gut with emotion and possibility too. The best novella I've read in ages.
This was a lot of fun. The characters were so engaging - Sneaky Scot! - and the dialogue was hilarious. Not many writers can pull off this type of story, and I take my hat off to Ms Parrish. It's the story of a one-night stand...I'll let you discover the rest. If you're squeamish about two men getting hot together, you might want to avoid this, but it would be a pity because as always, her writing is exquisite.
Austin has been burned one too many times when trying to find “Mr. Right”. So he comes up with the great idea of going out and finding a “Mr. Right Now” and keeping it completely anonymous. He wants to have a no-strings-no-names-one-off.
It's on Austin's bucket list, if he had one - an anonymous one night stand. Then he gets the chance. This is a short story that is really all about the foreplay, and the dance that two people new to each other have to go through - all heightened by Austin insistence that his new encounter remains anonymous. The writing makes you wonder if they do really know each and are playing a game, if they are/one of them is a virgin. They also trade a lot of amusing smutty puns too. The morning after is as painful if these can be, loosing their midnight intimacies. Question is will Austin find put his lovers name, and will they see each other again! An engaging read
I decided to read this because it was short. On one hand I liked how the guys were nervous having sex (one night stand) and talking through things, but on the other hand, all that talking and stopping didn't make the scene hot for me. I did like that they did try to get each other before the sex. The ending was cute!
