Paints the picture of God's promises for Christmas-from the beginning of time and to all of eternity. Go on a journey . . . from the promise of the Messiah given to us in the Old Testament . . . to the promise of Jesus' birth in the New Testament . . . to the promise of Jesus' life and our salvation . . . to the promise of His resurrection and our eternal life. This unique Christmas book contains Scripture followed by brief writings that will take readers on a voyage as they explore God's prophecies and promises for Christmas-prophecies and promises that began centuries ago. Readers will be transported through the miracles of God's promises from Genesis throughout eternity and that Jesus would come to fulfill those promises. More than a simple story, The Hope of Christmas reveals the broad and miraculous scope of Christ's birth in the manger and the continual gift of His love, joy, peace, grace, comfort, and much more-all within our grasp because of our one true hope, Jesus Christ. The Hope of Christmas is Jesus' gift foretold from the beginning of time, offering salvation and a life in Him for those who believe.
Nice little coffee table book. Not a lot of depth, but interesting, especially for anyone who is unfamiliar with the prophecies regarding the coming of the Messiah.
Quick little read, better if read during holiday season. Small, devotional-like book with lots of bible quotes from NKJV, NIV, NASB & ESV. put together by Billy Graham.org
This was a wonderful read for the Christmas season! Next year, I would love to go through it again but over the entire month of December so that I can better meditate on each section's message. Each of this book's twenty-one sections follows a three-part structure: prophecy, fulfillment, and promise. The author shares an Old Testament passage of prophecy, followed by a New Testament passage that demonstrates that prophecy's fulfillment, and lastly a page or two in his own words about what God promises His believers.
The book begins with prophecy about Christ's coming into the world as a baby in Bethlehem all the way to His ascension into Heaven to sit at the right hand of God. It is very thorough and does a great job putting the lessons the Christmas story teaches us into the context of the modern-day hecticness of the Christmas season. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to cherish the real reason for the season!
I enjoyed this book. It takes you through prophecy after prophecy and after each one it shows how each prophecy was fulfilled in Jesus Christ. Overall, it was a neat little book that did challenge me. However, there was one spot where they called Mary’s womb holy. This seems to imply that Mary was more than just a normal human. Mary was used greatly by God but she was not deity. Also, it would have been nice if the book would have been sectioned off in numbered chapters.
