Laura Magee was a character! It was fun trying to figure out the mystery, who was the killer in such a nice small town place. So, she ended up maybe with someone I didn't think she would end up with.

Laura is working at a small town newspaper after leaving a Boston museum. Laura thought that she would be living quietly. But a bigwig from Boston wants to build a monstrous mansion along the peaceful river which would deny access to the town's small monument dedicated to the founding of the town.
