My initial thoughts are that I think this would be better as an anime or light novel. While I like that it gives some of the love interest POVs, they are so short and almost not fully fleshed out that it disrupts the flow. I think the hints of the love interests' perceptions/thoughts/intentions are really fun to juxtapose with Mystia's own. I just wish we saw more of how they developed this way. Of course it's in the title that they love her, but just... give me a little more depth. The transitions between these scenes is lacking.

I probably will be reading a few more volumes that come out, with the hope that more will happen. I'm more used to consuming isekai manhwa/light novels and I know manga have a lot less room for development, so I'm trying to be understanding of the pacing.

Dropped today, read today. This series grew on me until I was obsessed and I read and re-read the first two obsessively. This one was a no-brainer pre-order.

It came out today and I HAD TO READ IT NOW!!!

Imagine my surprise when I struggled with it.

Too many new characters introduced to leave any time for the secondary characters that I grew to love from my multiple re-reads of the first two books.

Confusing and convoluted plot lines, SUPER obsessed love interested, more characters “awakening” to realize they had a previous life but it’s never explained and really vague bad guys that aren’t explained well is just a big messy hodgepodge of me scratching my head saying “Huh? Wait, what? What’s up with Eric? Why isn’t Melo more in this one? WHAT IS GOING ON?!?”

And Mystia…sigh Mystia. Dude, she is SO OBLIVIOUS. Can the girl with the second best grades in her class PLEASE get a clue and figure out that since SHE has changed herself and changed the world around her, that she is no longer as tied to the storyline or to at least realize the changes she did make and that the secondary characters around her are PEOPLE and not CHARACTERS?!?

So. While I WANTED to love this one, it disappointed me greatly. Not worth almost being late to work today.

3, I’ll give it one more volume to pick it back up, stars.

I am really really disappointed with how this volume unfolded. I LOVED the first volume and it was definitely in my top 10 favorite series/volumes last year, but I found myself just skimming the last quarter of the book.

What in the world happened to all these characters?! I felt that both Raid and Eric had changed, which isn't necessarily unexpected given the game is changing, but this was borderline psychopathic boyfriend syndrome and I didn't signup for that. Maybe that sounds super harsh, but I have deeply enjoyed this series and couldn't bring myself to get invested in the characters any longer with these VAST differences in who they were in just the volume prior.

Truly, I'm so bummed about the direction and will sadly be dropping this series. If I were to somehow be able to check out the fourth volume, I would to see if maybe our characters are not how they are at the end of this one, but unless that happens, this won't be a series I will pickup anymore. I want the old Mystia back and not have so much danger(?) surrounding these characters who have been so wonderful thus far. While there are some new mysteries that have arose (because are other characters from the real world too??) and the art being fantastic as always, I'm just genuinely heartbroken I am no longer enjoying this series.

Another entertaining volume. We get a surprise outburst from a character who now thinks Mystia is a fake and a bully, it's in character with the way the game acts but was out of the blue for the way the characters have been actually treating her.
I also liked the end when Mystia finds out her class wants to get to know her and thought she despised them all with her hiding and running away.
Not a lot of romance movement in this volume. Mystia is still super clueless and everyone is in love with her.
Fun though, will continue

Mystia is trying to prevent a bad ending but the game seems set in certain ways. How can Mystia avoid doom flags? Also, who is following her and what is this darkness surrounding her? The sense of real danger runs stronger in this volume, especially at the end.

Miejscami trochę snooze fest, no i trochę mnie irytuje, jak Mystia ciągle unika wszystkich love interestów poza nauczycielem (I don't mind at this point...), liczyłam na więcej interakcji mimo wszystko.

Consider me a fan of the series. I'm surprised I like the twists that this has taken, and I'm even more so considering I like the obsession some characters are prone to. Honestly, maybe that's the redemption. The darker, but clear, motives of each character as they work against each other while also keeping their secrets. It's fun to keep guessing what's truly going on and where this will go.

Definitely a bit more disjointed than is strictly good for it, this volume feels like it may be skipping some of the details from the source novel. It's still good, and the extra about how the adaptation happens is interesting, but it's a real step down from previous volumes.

I was just hoping the age gap romance line went away fal or hoping it would go the way of Beware the Villainess and all the problematic characters will end up getting their just desserts and changing to be less possessive. We will see!

Summary--Lady Mystia Aren is born into a family of nobility, and she just started high school. She's surrounded by a plethora of adoring classmates and her charming fiancee. Everything seems perfect... except this world is a dating sim video game called Kyun-Love, and Mystia knows she's been reincarnated into the role of the main character's villainess rival! Mystia is determined to do everything she can to avoid her fate, but it's never that easy... especially when all the boys keep falling in love with her!

Besides just saying I loved reading every page of the book from beginning to end, I loved just how smoothly the progression of the book moved. In the first few books, there's a base of information about a regular girl being reincarnated into a video game as the villainess character, then there's a backstory for her and all the heroes within the series, and now in the saga, we get to see them all as young adults instead of kids, which I liked a great deal.

My love for Mystia Aren is still quite strong, but I can't allow myself to go another moment without declaring my love for Lord Jey! He's the forbidden love interest, the boy slightly older than Mystia who later becomes her teacher. A teacher/student romance is forbidden, but I still ship Jeystia like mad! I love his character, his personality, and I love that Jey goes to Mystia's parents and promises to protect her until she graduates, where he'd then propose to Mystia. I'm all for it!

The characters, overall, felt rather unrealistic to me as no one falls in love with the same girl that fast unless you believe in love at first sight, which I do, but this is unrealistic on so many levels. I don't feel the unrealistic nature of the characters detracted from the book, because it's still a fine manga series that has me hooked, but this concept is doubtful to happen in reality.

I sympathized with Mystia when she tried protecting the only commoner girl in their academy of elites, Alice Heartspearl. Mystia was quite obsessive about Alice and Raid falling in love in lieu of her falling in love with Raid that she came to the belief no one liked her because no one talked to her anymore whereas in the past, they did. Her perception was skewed as everyone loved her but thought she needed space, so they respected her unsaid request to be left alone. I know what that feels like because when I was in school, I thought everyone hated me; it wasn't until after I graduated that I found out people did like me but gave me space because they thought that's what I wanted. I don't know what it's like to be reincarnated into a video game, but I know what Mystia's going through with social struggles and wish her only the best moving forward.

My favorite part in this novel has to be the scene with Jey visiting Mystia's parents to declare his protection for her stay in the academy and later declaring he’ll propose to her once she graduates. I loved Jey's dedication to Mystia, his admiration for her parents, and how he already thinks of all of them as family. Plus, I can't say no to a forbidden romance, which this counts as, so yes-yes-yes to their love story! I ship Jeystia so hard!

I think I've already spoken of the scene that left the biggest impact on me, if only in part. I loved the scene where Mystia found out she was respected and admired by everyone in school after she defended Alice. While reading that scene, I felt less alone because someone else, though fictional, understood me on some level, even though my experiences have long since passed.

This book didn’t make me laugh or cry, but it did have my jaw fall open when a major plot twist happened, and someone was out to get Mystia. The whole "she'll be mine or no one's" plot twist was one I never saw coming, so I was left in complete shock--good show, author Sou Inaida!

Considering I read this book in less than an hour because I was so hooked on the story, I'd say yes, this book was most definitely a page-turner!

One minor detail I disliked about this book was the sharpness of everyone's faces. I do understand these characters are no longer children with soft faces, but couldn't Mystia’s face have had a softer jawline that was more feminine than bear a sharp chin that all of the male heroes had? I'd say that's my only complaint, which has nothing to do with the plot, so if that's the only thing counting as a letdown, I'd say this book was overall perfect, just like the rest of the books in this series so far.

There was a bit of a cliffhanger ending that leads me to read the next book in this series, yes, but it's also a major plot twist. If I spoke more about this in detail, I'd be giving away too much, so I'll just say it's major and leaves readers wanting to read the next book and the one after that, too.

If I didn't care about the characters within this series, I doubt I would have bought and preordered all five books in this manga series, so yes, I most certainly cared about the characters, the plot, and I can’t wait to read to the end to find out what happens!

If I were the author of this series, the only thing I'd change to make this series better and enhance the quality of this Japanese literature, I'd make this series longer than five books and sign a contract with Hollywood producers (or the Hollywood equivalent someplace in Japan) to make this manga series an anime show adaptation!

Finishing my review--I don't feel it'd be fair to rate this book anything below a 5/5 stars rating, so that's what I'm going to do without question! I loved Mystia, the plot, the plot twist and cliff-hanger ending that I didn't see coming. I adored the male love interests, for the most part, and both ship Jeystia and have a crush on Lord Jey as well--a bit weird but not unexpected. I can't wait to read the rest of this series, but I also don't want this epic shojo romance to ever end! It's awesome!

I struggled with this one because Mystia is frustrating to read. Her memory of her previous life has completely blown away her actual life, and she is incapable of understanding that events have already irreversibly changed because of her. She was a key component of the game going down the bad road…and this isn’t the game anymore. It’s very irritating that she thinks the game mechanics are at work - does she think there are players?? If you don’t want to get arrested for throwing Alice off a cliff, then DON’T THROW HER OFF A CLIFF. It’s super easy, you don’t need to be afraid of doing things you aren’t going to do!

Meanwhile all the people surrounding her are turning more yandere as it progresses. A suspicious number of people “dropped out” on the committee so she could be on it with Eric and Feena. I don’t like Robert Weiss, who has major psychological issues and jumps to stupid conclusions on the basis of very weak data. Although his parents are also assholes. The part with Feena and getting burned…that was also nonsense. Another family hired a guy to dress as a cook and throw stew on her?? In the hallway of school? Does that make sense? There’s a mysterious janitor and also the jerk chaos guy…Claus? Whatever. She just accepts him, even though he’s mean to her. Eric is being creepy too. It seems like everyone is watching her closely - do her stalkers not run into each other everywhere?

Also, that small random bit of wondering if Melo is really Melo was rather disturbing. I feel like it will be important later.

Today's manga post is on I Was Reincarnated as the Villainess in an Otome Game but the Boys Love Me Anyway!, Volume 3 by ATAKA. It is 176 pages long and is published by Tokyopop. The cover has Mystia and Victor on it. The intended reader is someone who likes isekai, shojo stories. There is no foul language, no sex, and no violence in this magna. There story is told from third person close of the characters. There Be Spoilers Ahead.
From the back of the manga- Mystia Aren is desperate to prevent her predicted dead end from the Kyun-Love otome game, but all the game's potential love interestes- and even the game's protagonist, Alice!- are making things incredibly difficult for her. Will Mystia be able to get Kyun-Love's main events back on track, or will all the otome game boys continue to fall in love with her?

Review- So the main plot of the game has started but nothing is going as planned. Mystia is continuing to be a normal person, who cares about others and that is all it takes for the boys in this story to fall for her. Alice is fine but she doesn't compare to Mystia. There is more than person who comes the real world and knows the plot. I still don't know where the story is going but I'm along for the ride.

I give this volume a Four out of Five stars. I get nothing for my review and I bought this manga with my own money.

Gosh, these volumes feel so short. I miss the days when I didn't read manga series regularly, so whenever I discovered one, there were a ton of installments already. Now I have to wait like a year for each new volume to be translated ( O _ o )

Aside from the painful wait, I had fun with this volume! The story followed along the same lines as the previous two, which I'm sure shocks no one, considering how the isekai genre works. Mystia continues to avoid the storyline of the otome while attempting to encourage the cast's relationship with the original MC, with little success. Everyone in this series is the definition of unhinged, and while it can get a little unsettling at times with how obsessive they are over Mystia, I HAVE to see how it all plays out.

One gripe I have is Mystia's personality overall. I get that she's scared of having a bad ending, but if she would show a bit more personality and fire, I think the story would be even better. We got a glimpse of what that version of Mystia would look like when she had to defend Alice from their classmates, which gives me hope that perhaps we'll see that side of her again in the future.

With that, the wait begins for the fourth volume and the degenerate behavior of this obsessive cast! XD

I want to keep reading because it does have a bit of mystery here and there and it makes you want to know what happens next. But this has seriously become a book of one oblivious kind girl surrounded by psycho stalkers on the verge of killing each other to have Mystia all to themselves. Only Raid had a redeeming moment of actually wanting Mystia to be happy. And Claus doesn't even make sense in the story, just another psycho but at least he doesn't think Mystia is the greatest thing that ever existed so that's a nice change. Have to give it credit, the level of crazy does set it apart from other stories like this.

For all that Mystia keeps trying to trigger these "love events" for the heroine and all of the boys, it seems that she remains the focus of attention all around. Despite her best efforts, she's also making new friends left and right with even the girls adoring her mostly aside from those that are just too cruel and seem to be filling in where Mystia is refuses to play her previous villainess role as she remembers it. As a result, her entire class seems to now adore and nearly worship her overall. Meanwhile, jealousy rages with the boys and each one still seems convinced he's the one she'll end up with.

Dropping this.
I can’t take it anymore. Why every love interest in this manga has to either be possessive or being stalkers and psychos? Can’t they love her normally or just be grateful to her. There’re many useless love interests in this manga and it shouldn’t be like this many or way. Make this people thankful for fl’s kindness and not be stalkers and follow her everywhere or be angry when she’s with someone who is not them. In the first I loved it because of the fl ‘Miysta’ (I hope I wrote her name right) and even liked the ml ‘her fiancé’ BUT THEN HIS LOVE FOR HER TURNS TO BE POSSESSIVE and I hate this kinda love and espically when it turns to be dark and darker.

So this is another one of those transmigrator villainesses who never behaves like a villain. In otome game fashion there are lots of weird potentially romantic situations and strange backstories. Usually that can lead to choppy chapters and emotional reversals. The problem I found with this one is that every character is almost the same in their unhealthy obsessions. There is not enough distinction in the ways they "love" for the different story beats to have merit. They don't play off one another and draw you in. The main character is also a bit wishy washy on changing the storyline versus leaving things alone.

This is me done.

I knew things would be getting worse, but hoped that it would at least be in a limited way. I really don't have it in me to read a story that treats obsession as cute and healthy.

Mystia is just too annoying and obsessively focused on story following game scripts. Somehow it never occurs to her that she is living in an actual world, surrounded by actual people, and that there is no way the story could possibly be the same after all the drastic changes that happened. This may be a common trope, but taking it too far makes characters unforgivably stupid.

HARD PASS.

The art is really the only thing holding this together. The paneling is way too messy and there’s often too many things on one page. Characters have changed to be way more possessive. I’m willing to forgive that partially because the series acknowledges that this is veering into horror/psychological thriller territory.

What I can’t forgive is that Mystia is a Mary Sue if I’ve ever seen one. She can do no wrong and is exceptional to everyone at all times. I really hope the series is building up to this being a character moment later but I don’t have much confidence in that.

So this series was taking a darker turn and then in this volume it was even more so. The word obsession in the title is no joke—these original male leads and other students are truly obsessed with Mystia (though she’s still obtuse enough to not notice completely). This is not framed in a nice light either. Mystia is getting freaked out and every move and though of the original men are being warped.

I thought this would be another fun, quick villainess manga. It’s not.

Volume 3 takes place when Mystria is 15 years old and she starts attending school. She meets the "heorine" of the otome game. Her actions are still driven by her fear of dying or going to jail. I find it interesting that she never realizes that she has fundamentally changed the story.

The volume ends with a unknown shadow character. This character wants to ensure that Mystria will ONLY look at them.

I can't wait to read volume 4.

I know it's going to have all of the typical otome reverse harem tropes and stereotypes - I actively read otome-themed light novels for funsies - but this one is neither charming nor interesting to read once we got past the childhood backstories. It's giving "how many living and breathing red flags can we throw at the main character" energy.

Best Volume Yet

This manga just got intense. It’s like a flip just happened and all of a sudden we get some serious yandere vibes. Also there may just be a hidden love interest.
This is no longer a fluffy story. It has turn into suspense and can’t wait for the next volume. In short, read the this manga if you like some yandere vibes.

This volume was quite a mess. I felt like so many things were anachronistic to the setting and the characters are either all whack jobs or they are exactly like other characters. Tokyopop's Kindle version is also messed up, since the pages all have large margins on the right and bottom sides, except for a correctly sized, extra page that's the cover (so the cover is in the ebook twice).

ehh, too many new characters in too short a timespan. in a lot of ways this reminds me of my next life as villainess but like. it's speedrunning its later volume problems of suddenly throwing in bonus cast to the detriment of the pre-existing characters. the hints that mystia isn't the only transmigrated character are interesting though -- it'd be nice if she noticed that

Ok the all-characters, all-consuming love-obsession fest has gotten just too disturbing for me. Poor Mystia, if only she knew and made a break for it before it all hits the fan and all the delusional boys (and girls!) rip her apart for their "if I can't have her, no one can" piece of her. So creepy. I'm out.

We have a mystery on our hands. Is there another person who reincarnated and is familiar with the video game world Mystia Aren now resides in? Given the situation, the answer is yes.

I only bought three volumes of the series, because that was all the bookstore had.

I enjoyed the book. Thanks for reading my review, and see you next time.
