Suzie's Santorini Summer

Rate this book
Welcome to Suzie's Santorini Summer, the fourth book in a brand new series from the author of the Hummingbird Hotel series and the Cornish Confetti Agency series.

Escape to the sun-drenched island of Santorini!

When Suzie Sandringham loses her artisan jewellery-making business in the Blossomwood Bay fire, she’s devastated. As if that wasn’t enough, her beloved tepee is trampled to the ground by a stampede of ex-racehorses, and not only is her means of earning an income gone, but her home and all her belongings, too…. for the second time in a year.

Desperate to escape the battlefield her life has become, she heads to sunny Santorini to help out at her sister’s art gallery in the picturesque town of Oia, where she collides – literally – with handsome local sailing enthusiast Christos Stephanopoulos who is also running from the trauma of his past, although for very different reasons.

Can Suzie find the solace she craves amidst the blue-domed churches, the white-washed villas, and the breathtaking sunsets that make Santorini the pearl of the Aegean? Or will her persistent fear of strangers prevent her from making the connections she needs to move on from the painful events in London that changed her life forever?

Join Suzie as she explores everything the stunning island of Santorini has to offer - and enjoy a story filled with sun, sea, and souvlaki, along with a generous sprinkle of heartwarming romance for good measure!

Daisy James loves writing stories with strong heroines and swift-flowing plot-lines. She especially likes to create sunshine-filled settings in exotic locations - the Caribbean, Tuscany, Cornwall, Provence - so she can spend her time envisioning her characters enjoying the fabulous scenery and sampling the local food and drink.

When not scribbling away in her peppermint-and-green summerhouse (garden shed), she spends her time sifting flour and sprinkling sugar and edible glitter. She loves gossiping with friends over a glass of something fizzy or indulging in a spot of afternoon tea - china plates and teacups are a must.

It’s Suzie’s story and we discover why she left London and relocated to Blossomwood Bay. She’s temporarily without a job or a home so when her sister Amber offers her a solution she packs her bags and heads to Santorini. Full of wonderful, colourful and kind characters set in a beautiful location this book was a perfect escape to the sunshine.

Number 4 of the Blossomwood Bay series.
Lovee that these are set in so many different amazing countries, so not only do we hear each of the girls stories, but about the countries and their different sights etc.

I don't know if it was because it's been a while since I've read this series, but I was confused and felt I should have known what had previously happened to Suzie, when really it was in this book we find out.

Suzie has been running from something that happened whilst she lived in London and has been for a while.
She has been living in a teepee in Cornwall and braved her fears to run her own jewellery stand on the harbour... until the fire happens and then her teepee getting stampeded by wild horses, talk about bad luck.
Calling big sister Amber for help ends up with Suzie agreeing to work at the gallery in Santorini where she works whilst Amber goes travelling with her boyf.
Santorini ends up being more than Amber expects, with new friends, beautiful sights and a handsome Greek, but also secrets, sabotage and rocky relationships, as well as reunions.

If you strip away everything but the basic story, this is a teenage girl's daydreams come true. I've given it three stars, but I rounded up from 2.5 because I enjoyed the descriptions of Santorini. My problem is with the plot, not the writing.

SPOILERS

No matter how cute the guy is, you don't go off alone in a boat with him a few hours later.

Don't forgive vandalism because a different good-looking guy apologizes.

How shallow can a woman be to only realize she loves a man she has known her whole life when she sees him in a wet shirt clinging to his chest? Is that really love?

Everyone has a happy ending, including the flibbertigibbet who changes her career goals daily.

a little boring in spots but otherwise an okay read

I didn’t enjoy this book as much as some of the other Blossomwood Bay series books. For one thing there were some big grammatical errors throughout. I don’t remember seeing that problem with the other books. It was annoying. But also the story just wasn’t as interesting. It would also be nice to have the main female character be a strong independent woman for a change instead of a cowering girl who can’t stand up for herself until she finally finds her courage at story’s end.

A great summer romance in Greece

I loved this book, and it's great to hear Suzi's story. Full of romance, friendships, and starting over again. I loved that it was set in Santorini. It was a perfect summer read.

I'm really enjoying this series. Ms James is a master of the genre, and this is an excellent addition. I loved Suzie's story, and I've already preordered the final book in the series. I'm excited and intrigued to find out how it ends.

A sunny fun read

Love these stories about a group of friends from Devon who have adventures overseas after a traumatic time in their lives. They meet new friends, have a different life and get on with living.
