The second book in the Saddle Island series.

From the author of the widely successful Mustang Mountain series comes a second adventure in the new and exciting Saddle Island series.

There's a wild pony from Newfoundland, a mustang mare rescued from the Rockies, and a thoroughbred with no future on the track.

Meanwhile, Hank Harefield, who wants to turn Dark Cove into a tourist center, schemes to buy Aunt Maggie's oceanfront property and Saddle Island. Only a search for pirate treasure on the island holds out the hope that Kelsie and her friends can save the horse sanctuary.

I was disappointed when I reread the first in this series, as it didn't hold up to how much I liked it when I was younger. I still loved this one, though! I feel like the characters become so real in this book, and the plot is just perfection. I mean, a story about three tweenagers searching for treasure on an island with their horses as their families are losing money? What more could a tweenager ask for from a book? Its stereotypical in the best way, with just enough uniqueness to be exciting.

My one issue with this series is the ages. I feel like they all act at least a year older than they are stated to be, Kelsie maybe even up to 15. A bit of imagination can fix that, though. Overall, this book still holds such a special place in my heart!

I didn't enjoy this book as much as the first but it was still interesting. I'm not really fond of Kelsie unfortunately.
