HOW TO SUCCEED IN HIGH SCHOOL AND PREP FOR COLLEGE is the first book in a 3-book series. This first book contains information specific to high school success and applying to colleges as well as information to help young people with interviewing, creating relationships with potential mentors, and following their passions. Exercises that build on the information are included. Phyllis Zimbler Miller has an M.B.A. from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and coaches high school students on their college applications using the marketing principles in this book.

As a high school teacher looking at incoming freshmen, it's often difficult to pin point suggestions to help students get on the path of college success right from the beginning.
I will be sharing advice and suggestions gained from this book with my students after I add it to our classroom library!
This book is HUGE information for high school students who are preparing for colleges. Most of the tips of Miller is very valuable to help student succeed in various sphere such as Sat score, club activities, community services,... The disadvantage of counselors nowadays is that they have so much work to do and the ratio with students also a big gap. Still, our counselors may just share with general information of how to where to submit essays, what GPA we need,... but not up to specific details how to impress the interviewers, what strategy to be on top of the list,... this book does a great job to aid students in these questions. In short, the author uses her own experience and pieces of stories to help specially college-bound students determine where to go in the future. The only downside, in my opinion, is that Miller focuses mostly on 4-year universities but does not mention about community colleges which is sad because that is what I will apply to. I am eager to see Miller updates more in the next two books of this serie
My eldest daughter is starting the 9th grade this year and I am both apprehensive and excited for her. Time is flying by before my eyes and she has grown up over night. Lately I have been accumulating resources that would assist her in the future. I feel that it is important to understand what type of competition she will be having at school and how her choices in high school will affect her choices of colleges. I really appreciate the free copy that the author gave to me in a goodreads giveaway. This resource has been a fountain of knowledge for both myself and daughter. I plan on keeping this copy for several years and getting a copy for my niece. I highly recommend this book and ask parents to please consider adding this book to your library. Our kids grow up so fast that we should try to prepare them for reality in both high school and college! Thank you author and goodreads for sending this book! It was very much needed and appreciated! :)
