Teaching Me is the first (#1) book in the TEACHING ME/ LEARNING YOU series.
At the tender age of sixteen and following an ill advised first sexual encounter that he was emotionally ill prepared for, Colton finds himself a single father of a beautiful daughter. Determined to stand on his own two feet and to support his daughter, Colton has kept himself sealed off from the world, avoiding relationships and concentrating on the only important thing in his life.
—————————————— This was my very first read by Kiki Malone and I will certainly be looking out for more of her work ( I mean I NEED to read the next book in this series!!). I must admit I wasn’t sure how I would feel about the premise of this story, so started it with trepidation, but boy did it drag me in, hook, line and sinker. I’m warning you now, this book ends on a cliffhanger, one you see coming but are compelled to continue reading regardless. Now I’m left desperate for book two!! Gahhhhh I want to know what happens!!
As a single mother, I was interested to see Colton’s character. I perhaps assumed that, as a very young father, he wouldn’t be the best dad but was I ever wrong! Colton is the kind of dad you would wish for every child. He gives his all for her and is supremely protective of her. You can’t help but hope that everything is going to work out for him. Kasandre, well Kasandre, I have very mixed feelings about her. I’m frustrated that having seen what her family was like, that she wasn’t strong enough to pull away from their demands before things escalated. I’m hoping that she’s going to redeem herself in the next book. And the Professor, well I’m not sure if I’m looking for things that aren’t there but I can’t help wondering whether she has been aware of the connection between Colton & Kasandre all along and if she’s up to something. All roads lead that way…
So there you go, no conclusions, lots of heartbreak and mystery. At around 244 pages for the Kindle edition, with an attractive cover, I REALLY recommend this book!! Please don’t get put off by the fact that it ends in a cliffhanger, it really is worth it, it’s very intriguing! I got so invested in this story I read it in a day.
With thanks to Kiki for a copy of this book. All comments are my own honest, unbiased opinion.
👩🏻🤝👨🏽 Single Father 👩🏻🤝👨🏽 Moderate Spice 🔥🔥 👩🏻🤝👨🏽 Morally Grey 👩🏻🤝👨🏽 Deception 👩🏻🤝👨🏽 Cliffhanger (but it’s worth it)
So yes, I have met this lovely lady and author, and shame on me but this is my first of her books… I’m such an idiot.
PLEASE NOTE THIS ENDS ON A CLIFF HANGER - AND NO THE SECOND BOOK IS NOT OUT YET… DON’T SAY I DIDN’T WARN YOU.
I did know this was a cliffhanger as the author did tell me, but of course, I read anyway, became captivated and now am swearing at the book!
This subject matter was one I have not read before, and was unsure how I would handle it….
Teacher - Student relationship…
Well, Kiki does it justice with a reverence that was sweet but honest.
This follows Colton’s journey of the aftermath of this “affair” - how he navigates, and the repercussions.
I will not mention the “B&*tch’s” name because it is like acid on my tongue - she is pure evil!!!!
This is the kind of writing that I absolutely love and am in awe of - it reduces you to emotions you didn’t think you could have while reading a book….
The writing is out of this world, the story is spectacular, even if taboo and triggering (for some).
I highly recommend this book — I know cliffhanger - but trust me it is worth it… I am already plotting how this could play out and where my emotions will sit.
Check out Kiki and start your journey into her words!
I had no idea what kind of book I would get with a title like this. Totally not what I was expecting, and that unexpected plot twist led me on a really great journey. I've enjoyed reading this book as it is a topic I've never read about before in all the years I've done book reviews for authors.
There are some triggers to be mindful off: lots of spice with enough details, includes sexual content involving minors, child abuse, and violence within household settings.
You get to really be inside the heads of the characters in this book, which is again something that isn't something I have come across often when reading. They don't just "tell" you their story, or their thoughts, but it is shown, and felt. I really like that. Each character is very well written and fleshed out, very realistic in surprising ways.
I do recommend this book to those who can handle the triggers, like adventure through a plot that keeps you guessing what is coming next. With this being a quick read, I feel like many will enjoy it as well. #Kikimalone
When I tell you that there are some things that happen in this book…there are some things that happen in this book. This is a beautiful story about resilience and love and second chances. It took a while for me to get engrossed in the book but once I was deep, it hooked in me and for it to cut the way it did. OMG! Kiki Malone hats off to you.
4 stars and 3 spicy peppers Kiki Malone…why would you do this to me? Personally the book started really slow for me but once it picked up I was on the edge of my seat. The plot twist and the CLIFFHANGER???!!!!!???? Like OMG my little heart was going potter patter the entire middle to end. I’m so glad book two just came out because if I had to WAIT?!? I don’t think I would have survived. Also this book, even though it not a fantasy, makes me believe in fate. Like the FMC and the MMC belong together but there was some confusion because of things that happen. Ugh just read it because I’m really trying not to spoil anything. I will say however that Yvette belongs in a psych ward. Thank you for coming to my ted talk.
This book had me at single dad. How he became one I haven't read before so that was a new experience for me. Colton may have become a single dad young, but you can instantly tell how much he loves his daughter. They have such a sweet bond. It really touched my heart. Now Kasandre soon finds herself in a real pickle of a situation. Secrets never stay hidden. I was waiting for that to blow up in her face as she gets closer to Colton and his precious daughter. This book does end on a cliffhanger that really makes me want the next book to see what going to happen next. I don't know how I'm going to wait! This book did take me on a emotional roller coaster ride especially for two young characters. I was really hoping and rooting for them to find the support they needed like Colton had. Really looking forward to the next book.
*Teaching Me* by Kiki Malone delivers a compelling mix of passion, vulnerability, and personal growth. The central relationship—rooted in both undeniable attraction and heartfelt connection—keeps you fully invested as the characters navigate boundaries, insecurities, and the fear of letting someone truly in.
The writing is smooth and engaging, and Malone does a wonderful job giving each character depth beyond the romantic tension. Their banter feels natural, and the intimate moments are tastefully intense, adding to the emotional stakes rather than overshadowing them.
A few familiar tropes make parts of the story predictable, but the sincerity in the character arcs keeps it fresh and satisfying. If you enjoy romance that’s both sexy and meaningful, *Teaching Me* is definitely worth picking up.
This is the first in a new series, and this is Colton and Kassandre’s journey. Colton never dreamt he would become a single dad to his adorable little girl Cassidy, at 16, who is understandably his world. Kasandre is a teaching assistant, who is fueled by vengeance against the boy who ruined her family, but what is he is not what how he has been portrayed? This is a well written story which is an emotional roller coaster, with family, friendships, secrets, heartbreak, revenge, trust, romance, and is a tragic, twisted, unpredictable, and entertaining page turner, which ends in a doozy of a cliffhanger. I cannot wait to read the next book. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
This is so very well written; with great characterization that builds and unfolds throughout the whole story.
The topic of this book is one that I haven’t come across before. There are some triggering scenes that get your heartstrings, and your tears. However, it all just adds to the enormity of the way this story has been told. You get awareness, pain, beauty, peace, confusion and all the emotions mixed about and throughout the plot leading you captive needing to keep reading to find out what happens next.
I love stories within stories and how this author has more than one set of main characters to follow. It adds a depth that feels very realistic.
I absolutely devoured this book, I was up half the night as I just couldn’t put it down. Kiki has brought forth a world of emotions in her words, and I just couldn’t get enough! My heart broke for poor Colton. Everything he’s been through, and he’s still such a kind and selfless person. He’s such an amazing character and I loved reading his story. And little Cassidy, so sweet and innocent, such a little treasure! A few twists and turns I did not see coming, kept me on my toes and glued to those pages. That ending though 🤯 cliffhanger alert! Was ready to claw my eyes out, I neeeed more!!! Okay, I’m ready for the next book now….
Okay - wow - although this ends in a huge punch you in the face cliffhanger which I absolutely hate, I have to tell you to read this book NOW!!! Not only did Kiki Malone bring together characters that have so many layers but she intertwines the best of a young single dad with an adorable little girl and then she throws in a heroine that the reader will instantly fall for. However, with every page turning Kasandre has secrets that will make or break the not only our hearts but Colton's trust. This book was superb from the opening pages and although you are left breathless and wanting more in the end it was so good you do not mind. Looking forward to the conclusion!!
Colton is a star football player with excellent grades and nothing but a great future ahead of him. Until an affair with a teacher changes the course of their lives forever. What should have been a devastating consequence becomes a blessing with the help of Colton’s parents but he’s missing one thing, someone to share his life with. Enter Kassandre and her immediate connection to Colton and his daughter. But she’s got a dark past of her own that she must share if she wants any kind of chance of a future with Colton and his daughter. I was engrossed in this story from the beginning and the cliffhanger at the end left me gasping!
Colton, an aspiring counselor, was a teen dad who assumed full custody of his daughter, who was born as a result of a relationship with his teacher. Kasandre is a TA in Colton’s class, unbeknownst to them when they first meet. One meeting is all it took for sparks to fly. Chemistry turns to deeper feelings, but a dark secret lingers between them… Kasandre didn’t meet Colton by chance, and has a deeper interest in Colton’s daughter. Can they overcome the betrayal and secrets?! This read had me engaged the entire way through with an ending I didn’t see coming! This book left me wanting more, and I hope there is a second book!
This is the first book that I have read from Kiki Malone and I absolutely devoured it!!! Teach Me was not what I was expecting and I am so glad that I got the chance to read this book!
Kiki Malone did an amazing job of pulling me into this story and making me fall in love with Colton and his little girl ~ Cassidy. My heart broke in a few spots and was put back together again until the very end.
*Full disclosure* This book ends on a HUGE cliffhanger but I think Kiki Malone did a wonderful job and pulling us in and teasing us. I can't wait until the next book in the series comes out so I can find out what is next for Colton and the rest of the characters.
This book is easily a five-star read for me! I am also looking forward to going back and reading more from Kiki!!!
Amazing read! I am a first time reader of Kiki’s. I devoured this book in one sitting!!!! It is the perfect length for a road trip or an afternoon of reading. This isn’t your average single dad romance. The storyline isn’t one I had heard before and I appreciated the freshness of a new idea. The layers and character relationships build so well and kept me engaged the whole book. The ending has me impatiently waiting for book 2! Highly recommend!
Teaching Me is a fabulous read. I enjoyed this one so much. I was sucked in from the beginning. Love the added twist as who Kassandre is comes to light. Colton is an amazing single dad juggling everything he can while keeping his daughter safe. I cannot wait to see what happens next.
I absolutely loved this book. I need more and hope a sequel is coming sooner than later. I liked the characters in the book. I would definitely recommend this book to others who enjoy a book with a twisty twist! I gave it 5 stars because I really enjoyed it. I could have read it in one day if I didn't have to work! Haha.
I really enjoyed reading Colton and Kassandre's story. They both have made mistakes in their lives, mistakes that taught them things. Their mistakes taught them right from wrong, and how good things can come from those mistakes. Will Kassandre's mistake cost her the man she is falling for?
Love this book just as much as all of Kiki’s books. Wasn’t really sure at first about a teacher/ student relationship but knew how things can go in a different twist with Kiki’s books so stuck around and was definitely not disappointed. The only disappointment was not having the next book the get to right away.
I was Leary about this book but since I got it as an ARC I read it..I had problems at first with the sexual content of a minor. The story did get good and it does take you on an emotional roller coaster ride of heartbreak, secrets, and trust.
I was given this book as an ARC read. I enjoyed the book. It was easy to fall into and read. The story was different than most I read. Can't wait for more.
This book was so very well written. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I wasn't sure what I was getting into when I began reading but I am glad I picked it up.
This is my first Kiki book and she has me gripped, I can't wait to read more and find out what happens next 🤩 I am totally addicted to her characters and I definitely need more 🙏 So excited for book 2 😊
