Peter Porosky was my first creative writing teacher at the University of Maryland. I attended his courses in the mid ‘70s, then recently hooked up with him on Facebook. He was a good teacher and I learned a lot from him. “Markham is Missing” is his current novel about a boring college professor (Patton) who leaves his job to search for his “lost” brother who he appears not to not have much in common with. During his journey through modern-day America, Patton goes through a series of incredible events that culminates in an unexpected ending. “Markham is Missing” is a well-written book and a good story. My problem with the book has to do with the layout of the print edition. It was small, light print, too widely spaced, that was hard to read. It also has no title page or copyright information, or any kind of front book pages. The story starts on the very first page. I know it’s the story that counts, and I do recommend this book.
