I chose to play this game in a foolhardy attempt to empathize with the students I work with who are, essentially, video game addicts. I understand their plight now, as this game (which takes a lot of reading time, Goodreaders) kept me up past midnight more than once as I learned how to play, the storyline(s), and most importantly, how hard it is to switch yourself back to real-life mode after starting at a digital screen for 6+ hours.

As real life is challenging, RPGs (and likely all games from a 1st person POV) are challenging, fun, but SAFE (you don't die, you start over...) are certainly a welcome alternative for teens and young adults who can't grasp all the intricacies of life (and may not even care to), but know how to cast spells and wield enchanted weaponry with the best of 'em.

I wouldn't be surprised if 50 years from now, all gamers have eye problems, weight problems, neck/back problems, and maybe even brain tumors from focusing so hard on things that aren't actually there. That said, the market for OTC's may one day exceed the need for RPGs.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Official Game Guide is a fantastic resource for both new and experienced players. It covers quests, maps, items, and gameplay strategies in great detail. For PC players, it's especially helpful when tweaking performance. If you're experiencing lag, check your system with this tool: https://mybottleneckcalculator.com/

Highly recommended for anyone who wants to fully enjoy Oblivion.

Four stars for being pretty darn thorough; all the teensy little quests are detailed. Does not cover the expansions. Also does not map every little place, but that's what the Intarweb is for.
