Merged into this contemporary literary novel are Rabindranath Tagore's translations of the 15th century North Indian poet Kabir. Here's one I loved, actually I resonated with all of the Kabir in my novel:

Kabir says:

How could the Love between Thee and me ever sever?
As the leaf of the lotus abides on the water: so thou art my Lord,
And I am thy servant.

From the beginning to the ending of time,
there is love between Thee and me; and
How shall such love be extinguished?

Kabir says:

As the river runs into the ocean,
So my heart touches Thee.
