Immaculate Connection

Rate this book
Maggie is a gifted medium. She has been communicating with the dead for as far back as she can remember, but her gift doesn't stop at one world. Maggie can tap into countless other existences, which she chooses to ignore. Under the surface, Maggie is aware of her own identity, but refuses to acknowledge who she really is. She resigns herself to a life of misery with Patrick, her bullying husband. But Maggie's life spirals out of control when she becomes pregnant by David O'Sullivan, the village priest. David arranges for Maggie to leave her native Ireland, give birth in France, and have the child adopted. While in France, Maggie is pulled into a past life, which reveals the nature of the soul group she belongs to, as well as her life purpose, and it terrifies her. The child she carries is no ordinary child. Aedan is born with incredible powers that will one day be able to fight demons. The setting for this stunning novel is in the 1930s, but there are also past lives and futures at play in Immaculate Connection. Kay Illingworth is writing the sequel to her debut novel Immaculate Connection. She grew up in Manchester, England, and now resides with her husband and children in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia.

Immaculate Connection by Kay Illingworth is one of the best books I have read. That says a lot as i ususlly only read mystery books. I could not put this book down once i started reading it !! It is fiction, but some parts feel like it could happen, or you want it to be true. Maggie is a gifted medium, she is aware of her own identity but refuses to acknowledge who she really is. The setting starts in the 193s in Ireland. I cant wait for the sequel to come out. wont tell you more, dont want to spoil it for you

I absolutely loved this book. To be honest, I haven't read for quite some time. The majority of books these days just don't hold my interest. So it was a pleasent surprise when I couldn't put this novel down. The best way I can describe the book is purely captivating. Kay has a fabulous way of drawing you into the story and the lives of the characters, and not letting you go. I highly recommend this book.

Wow. This book is stunning. I absolutely loved it, despite how long it took me to read Immaculate Connection. I felt the heartbreak and joy with the characters. I was heartbroken with some of what happened; I couldn't believe it. I felt bad for Maggie a couple times but am happy with something that happened towards the end. I definitely wasn't expecting that. I can't wait to see what happens next! This is a must read.

Gifted medium Maggie captivated me from the start and I found it difficult to set the book down as new characters appeared and lives are revealed in past lives as well as future lives.
The setting is 1930's Ireland but soon moves over to France where and history buff or not one will appreciate the authentic detail blended with humour and a dash of romance to peak your interest.

This book has a really great flow to it. It is a very enjoyable read, and really covers a lot. The characters are well rounded and the historical aspect is well written. For those who have a hard time sticking with a book, you will certainly not have that problem with Immaculate Connection. I look forward with great anticipation to the sequel

"This is a fantastic book. One of the best I've read in a long time. A very original story. The first few chapters come across as chick-lit...but the book turns around in a phenomenal way."

“A refreshing, brilliant, thoroughly entertaining novel in a class of its own. This book has it all. A Catherine Cookson for the spiritual warrior. But don’t be fooled by the word ‘spiritual,’ some angels love a good fight. The book is like a “dessert” that I cannot wait to get back to. I have read many books in my lifetime and this author’s writing is on par with any of the best sellers I’ve have ever enjoyed. Can’t wait until Steven Spielberg turns it into a film. Well done Kay Illingworth."

“Being a voracious reader doesn’t mean that I consume everything in sight regardless of quality. I love to find a book that carries me along, one that keeps me up at night later than intended for “just one more chapter!” and one that delivers a satisfying story without unsatisfying predictability. Kay Illingworth (a Doctorate in Metaphysics being just one of her many talents) has provided us with a story that opens in France in 1931, presents a crucial situation of reincarnation, takes us to England, moves us into the second world war, and then leaves us knowing that there is more to come, that the characters we have been getting to know have a greater journey ahead. There is Maggie, the spirited (in more ways than one) woman with powers she has difficulty acknowledging, and David, the object of her love and desire, and then there is Aedan…..but I have no intention of giving the storyline away as I don’t want to spoil your enjoyment of the novel. I will say I was touched by the description of the soldiers of the Great War going to the light, the plight of the dogs, and Maggie’s love for her child. This is not a cosy package of boy-meets-girl with an overlay of a past life to solve the present-day problems; it’s a story resplendent with humour, scandal and passion. As someone would have to say who lived during the years in which the story is set, A ripping yarn!”
