Ripley must decide who to trust, who to save, and who to destroy.

Imprisoned in the Cidris cages and being used for her blood by the one man she loves has deadened her. Escaping is futile and being drained every other day has left her numb, weak, and desolate. One by one, she watches the Cidris select the weakest of girls from the cages and drag them out of the room, destined for an unknown fate. And soon, Ripley will be next.

Before Ripley is subjected to the Cidris’s torture, Fletcher has other plans. He intervenes to have a little time with her for himself. Time that could be lethal for them both.

In this gripping sequel, the lines between good and evil blur, entwining Ripley and Fletcher in a deadly dance where trust, betrayal, and love clash. Their encounter will either lead to salvation or push them further down a path of destruction.

Nicolette literally did that thing where you start reading the second book and realize you are more in love with the story than you initially thought. I loved this book even more than the first!

My initial (minor) gripe with the first book was how quickly some of the story progressed, but I felt like this was much more evenly paced. In fact, as I found out more of our characters’ backstories and their previously unknown history, I felt like the way the plot moved in he first book made so much more sense- and I am okay with it now. Haha

Ripley and Fletcher are having to work through their individual trauma, work through piercing together what happened to them in past, and the trials they are working through currently. Such a fun blend of everyone having no clue on how to sort through their issues but eventually figuring it out. My favorite part? Rip and Fletchy finally mostly figured out their shit, and then a massive bomb got dropped and it was DEVASTATING. We will definitely have some setbacks 🥲

Thanks for ripping my heart out Nic. I’m going to mope around until BoA drops 😭💔

I tried really hard to drag this book out until the 3rd was out but failed today. This book had a death grip stronger than the first, stronger than any magic wielded in that book. Words are our most inexhaustible magic, after all.

So what has me so hooked on this books?

1. The world building is perfect. It's never dumped on you. It's sprinkled throughout perfectly, something very few authors excel at, but this was perfect. Perfect amount, perfect pacing, perfect setting!
2. The anguish, mental health, and the split are so spot on. It was an emotional rollercoaster. I felt pain when they did. The characters' reactions to betrayals, self doubt, and confusion were so relatable and how I would react in similar situations. (I basically just admitted to being naive on crazy on goodreads, but I promise, it's cool)
3. The cliffhangers. I keep pacing around my house, reminding myself just a couple more weeks until the 3rd book.

The audiobook narration is also perfect. I think I'm going to read the 3rd on Kindle because I'm impatient, but Ripleys' voice will still be in my head.

Also, if you need one more thing to put you over the edge on reading this series, CUDDLES deserves your respect. After all he did for us, read the books!!

This book is still really dope and interesting, but I did find it to be a lot. There was a lot of teleportation and moving here and there, and I did not feel quite grounded until the end of the book. The last 1/3 of the book is where I really got into it. And I think the author does another really good job at bringing this book to an end and making the audience want more. I give this book 4 stars.

Amazing! Better than the first!

I LOVED the first book. But holy cow I loved Body of Echoes more! Ripley is on a roller coaster throughout the book. She is faced with painfully hard life altering decision after decision. She never knows who she can and can't trust and wonders if she can't trust herself.

Second book in this Rapunzel inspired series. This is much better written than the first book, just as I hoped it would be. Ripley continues on her quest to find her real family and use her magic. But the entire book is still centered on her trusting Fletcher (or not). Exhausting. But it did keep me entertained and reading. Some surprises.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and glad I decided to read the second, considering how the first book ended. The pace of the story was pretty quick to the point I wish the book was almost longer so I could enjoy more of the story but I still highly recommend the book as the plot is addicting

Ok re-writing this because my review was so ridiculous - I think I just needed to get out my thoughts on my kindle before marking it as read. :) Read both of these in a day.

I've read both of these books, so I'm posting my thoughts on the individual books and the same overall thoughts on both.

Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Characters: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
World building: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Romance: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Pace: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ (I'll be honest, I don't remember so I'm guessing, but I remember the plot)

Book 2: Body of Echoes Oh, if you thought book 1 was an emotional rollercoaster, Body of Echoes said, “Hold my beer.” I'd bet money, that if you liked book 1, you will LOVE book 2.

This book takes Ripley’s trauma and growth to new heights and brings in some family drama. And let’s not even talk about Fletcher. Actually, let’s talk about Fletcher because he’s still as maddening and enigmatic as ever. He’ll make you scream, cry, and swoon—all at the same time. It’s exhausting but in the best way.

The pacing in this one picks up right where Body of Chaos left off, and things get INTENSE. Ripley is forced to be stronger, smarter, and more ruthless if she wants to survive.

And the betrayals? Oh, they’re back with a vengeance. If you thought the first book left you angry, buckle up, because this one will leave you reeling.

Final Thoughts: This series is like riding a rollercoaster in the dark—you don’t know what’s coming, but you’re both terrified and exhilarated. Ripley’s journey is one of survival, but it’s messy, emotional, and oh-so-satisfying. And Fletcher… well, we love to hate him, but deep down, we’re all rooting for this broody mess of a man.

One of the best things about this series is that the romance doesn’t take over the plot. The world-building and action are just as important, and Beebe balances it all beautifully.

Cons? I had no cons for book 2. :)

I’m impatiently waiting for Body of Ashes to drop because I need more betrayal, more tension, and more answers. This series is dark, twisted, and so, so good. Nicolette loves to end on a cliffhanger.... and now we are all patiently (that's a lie) waiting on book 3. I will continue to stalk her tiktok until news is released.

OH MY SOUL...I'm just so emotionally invested in this series. So this is book2 and what a roller-coaster read it was...in a good way😉 The writing is done very good and the world and character building is excellent. It is very rare to pick up a book and feel everything happening.

This book picks up right where book1 left off. Like I said this book puts your emotions through a roller-coaster ride, but I didn't regret the ride. So many twists in the story that left me going...what the hell just happened...I messaged the author a few times during my reading, which I don't really do, so I can let her know just how much her book is affecting me.

I love Ripley and Fletcher and this whole journey. Love the story that they are building together. They are absolutely the most resilient characters I have come across.

This book is a great combination of self growth, love and action. The spice level is at a 3 for me. This book ends on a massive cliff hanger again that has me begging for book 3.

In my review of the previous (and first) book in this series I thanked the stars not to read about bonded mates, and proceeded to laugh at myself in the first handful of chapters of this sequel when that very phrase appeared. What I will say is that at least without it in the story, the plot would have been either very different, or very short, and therefore it held together the core of the narrative and was not simply there to be there.

The story reads easily and well. Nicolettes writing is smooth and natural and I find myself entangled in the story eager to see whats next without being slapped in the face with jagged and awkward dialogue.

Personally I struggle with envisioning in my mind character and environment descriptions yet I find it much easier to do with the characters in Echoes. From the gorgeous world-setting descriptions of crystal fields to the curly red hair of our book girlie Rosaanne, I can actually see the characters.

Nicolette also rewards her readers for sticking to the narrative by [spoiler alert] literally putting twat face in the ground. When I read Ashes, I only hope the same can be said for that one [spoiler alert] regal hoe.

While describing my read to another, I asked the question "Have you seen Cabin in the Woods?". I asked for a reason, and linked it to a key part of the tale that I particularly enjoyed and found unique.

Nicolette may not be the biggest author on the shelves but if you're umming and ahhing about adding her books to your "Read" shelf, just do yourself a favour and do it. I regret nothing on my decision to buy her novels, only that I have no idea where her novels will fit in my already-full bookshelves.

World building: 5/5
Romance: 2/5
Pace: 5/5
Characters: 5/5
Spice: 2/5

This book was really close to five stars for me. I enjoyed the first book of this series but wow, this book was on another level. I love seeing how the author grew in her writing and world building ability. This book was very well done.

Something I really enjoyed was the pace of this book. Every chapter changed the plot and it was never predictable. I feel like I flew through this book! Very quick read.

Spoilerssssss! ‼️

The constant Fletcher hate from every character in this story is wild! I shared in Ripley’s anger with them. The Queen is very suspicious to me and I could see her being connected with the Cidris. Her level of hate towards Fletcher makes me wanna throw her off the castle! I don’t think Ripley is as concerned as she should be about this lady.

I’m waiting for how the mother from the tower connects to the greater plot her. I cannot wait to find out.

I wish we got more relationships building moments for Ripley and Fletcher. I feel like there was a lot of trust building and jealousy. Which is just me being a brat because I know those are things that happen in a relationship 🤣.

Bring on book 3!

I really loved Body of Echoes. It felt so good to jump back in with Ripley and Fletcher again. Ripley is growing so much, but you can still see her trust issues and how people keep taking advantage of her which makes me root for her even harder. And Fletcher… I swear, I can never decide if I trust him or not LOL. Meeting new characters was such a highlight for me and now I am completely hooked on figuring out what is going on between the king and queen. The twists and turns just kept coming and I am so interested to see how the final book wraps everything up. The beginning pacing felt a little off at first but it quickly pulled me in. I am such a big fan of Nicolette Beebe and her storytelling and I honestly cannot wait to read the last installment.

SPOILER FREE REVIEW:

I loved the first book but to me the second book was even better!! It’s well paced, well-written and keeps you on your toes at all times. I literally could not put it down once I started it. I love the dynamic of Ripley and Fletcher and the rollercoaster you go on with them in this book, the trauma they’ve been through and work through together. Again, the ending has me absolutely dying for the next book and the world building is beautifully and intricately written. I can’t wait to read Body of Ashes, Nicolette release it soon pleeeeeassseeee 😭

I truly loved this book. The first book drew me into Ripley and Fletcher's story. And when I tell you that my heart ached for the first 100 or so pages, I MEAN IT. Absolutely would recommend to anyone who loves dark romance stories and wants something addictive they can sink their teeth into. I absolutely promise you, you won't regret it! All the praises to Nicolette who brought this amazing story into the world! I'm so excited to read the finale in a week when it released on Dec. 1st!!!

I wanted to love this like everyone else. I truly did, but I found myself reading just to finish the book. I wasn't immersed in the world and sucked into their reality. Maybe that's on me and not the book, but it was hard to snap into the story. It's still well written, and a good series to give a try. It just wasn't for me.

Im so in love with these characters and story that could not put it down. This is a fast paced story with all the twists and turns that makes you want it to never end! Nicolette is so good at leaving us on a cliff hanger and am so thankful I started this series after the last book has come out so I don't have to wait to find out what happens next!!

I will never stop preaching - justice for Cuddles. 🖤

I also, do not know who to trust in this book. :) I'm confused, and torn. ☺️

The magic system seems so much clearer in this book! Which obviously makes sense because we learn more about it as Ripley does. I was just greedy for knowledge in the first book.

This was an interesting and engrossing read. Parts do read a little ya but overall the was a decent job done explaining some of the gaps in the last book as far as how the magic works and the background of the bad guys. It has a motley crew quest squad and gets pretty dark at times. The ending has me again a fist in frustration, but I look forward to the next one.

I ended Body of Chaos angry with Fletcher. Picking up the second book in this series ran me through so many emotions. I was on the edge of my seat and Nicolette left me there at the end of this book. I cannot wait until Dec 1 for the 3rd instalment of this series.

Such an amazingly heart-stopping book that I couldn't put down without force. I am still upset that Cuddles had to die in book one but am intruiged by the cliffhanger. Also split Ripley is a badass heroine that I would hate to get on the bad side of.
