This book is absolutely fantastic! I have been drawing since childhood ~ never over extended intervals of time, just now and again sketching or drawing something I've appreciated. But I always felt frustrated because I knew there had to be methods or techniques that real artists use to achieve the look of the thing they're drawing. I have a number of basic how-to books on drawing ~ but they don't explain how to get the kind of details and sense of textures and depth that you will find in "Realistic Textures." Diane Cardaci's book is SO chocked full of tips and step-by-step instruction that you can actually and easily understand and put to immediate use! I've got a new sketchbook now dedicated to practicing these techniques and it is so much fun AND rewarding!

I am absolutely SO thrilled to have found Ms. Cardaci's book and if you like to draw, or know someone who does then I recommend this book ten thousand percent! GET IT! ;-)

This short 64 page text is designed for beginning drawing students. Each page has black and white photos of graphite pencil drawings which illustrate the concept or subject to be studied. It is a quick read and easy to understand with clear step-by-step drawings. It is by no means completely comprehensive but it is a good place to start.
