Christmas is about more than the birth of a baby. It's about God becoming human so He could fulfill His promise to redeem us. God's Gift of Christmas takes readers deep into the heart of that promise. The book's tone is warm but authoritative. Chapter topics include: The Incarnation The Names (Jesus, Immanuel, Prince of Peace, Mighty God, etc.) God, Mary, and Joseph (Jesus' dual nature as man and God) The Truth of the Nativity The Fullness of Time The Purpose (God's Redemptive Plan)
John F. MacArthur, Jr. was a United States Calvinistic evangelical writer and minister, noted for his radio program entitled Grace to You and as the editor of the Gold Medallion Book Award-winning MacArthur Study Bible. MacArthur was a fifth-generation pastor, a popular author and conference speaker, and served as pastor-teacher of Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California beginning in 1969, as well as President of The Master’s College (and the related Master’s Seminary) in Santa Clarita, California.
Sometimes it is just nice to take some time out of a busy day and read about why we should be celebrating Christmas. This book gives the reader points to ponder and ways to reflect on what is truly important in life.
This is a short, well written book about God's gift of Christmas: Himself! MacArthur explains the historical situation in which Jesus was born and the significance of Jesus' birth. He goes into brief detail about the angels' announcement, Elizabeth, the Magi, and more! As a whole, this book is a great overview of everything involved in Jesus' birth, as well as the reason *why* He was born: to die.
Don't let my 3-star rating discourage you from checking this book out! This book provides a much needed reminder about "God With Us" (Immanuel) in Jesus Christ. :-)
