Operation Find a Guy

Rate this book
Skye Jones has one goal for the summer—keep her father from taking away her convertible. That’s the only reason she agrees to work at her sister’s bridal shop in Boulder, Colorado, while she searches for a non-boring job. Why else would she have anything to do with weddings when she has no interest in marriage?

Benjamin Smith somehow ended up as a groomsman in two weddings over the summer, so he’s spending a lot of time at Happily Ever After events. Falling for a blonde with no dreams of settling down wasn’t in his five-year plan, yet the more he sees Skye, the more he wants to figure her out.

But all she sees him as is a boring attorney−her complete opposite.

Besides, romance is supposed to be for Skye’s friends, not her. And she’s in Colorado to get a job, not a guy. Right?

Operation Find A Guy is book three in the Roadtrip Romance series. I have read books one and three, and the series is best read in order.

The Roadtrip Romance series follows three best friends, Katie, Bree, and Skye. When I read Destination Romance, the first book in the series, I did not like Skye at all. I had wondered how the author would make her likable and was dreading her story. However, I am glad I read it.

Skye comes off as self-centered, adventure-seeking, and lazy. However, that is not how Benjamin sees her. Their first meeting is memorable and (surprisingly) something they are able to laugh about later. I appreciated the slow build of Skye and Benjamin's friendship. I also appreciated how Benjamin was able to truly see who Skye was, despite the protective walls she had built around herself.

I loved the snarky banter between Skye and Benjamin. I enjoyed the character growth that Skye experienced. This is not a light and fluffy read. There is an unexpected depth, pain, family drama, and healing. Operation Find a Guy can be read as a stand-alone novel if you do not plan to read the first two books in the series. If you do plan to read the series, start with the first one to avoid spoilers.

Thank you to JustRead Publicity Tours and the author for the opportunity to read this book. I was not required to provide a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The third (and final) book in Amy R. Anguish’s Roadtrip Romance series is the first book I’ve read by this author. Operation Find a Guy does stand on its own so, if like me, you’re starting late, you won’t be lost starting this story.

At first, I wasn’t really sure of Skye. Her attitude about everything having to do with Boulder, Colorado—working with her sister, her father, the city itself—was pessimistic. And then she meets Benjamin and gets worse. Thank goodness Benjamin is determined to change her mind.

But, once I understood the why of how Skye acted, I was able to see the deep hurts she carries. And that is a reflection of so many of us.

Let me clarify that this book is not at all a depressing book. There are many fun and lighthearted parts, especially those where Benjamin is working hard to impress Skye. And when she opens up to him, I was hopeful right alongside him that a relationship was a possibility between them.

Add in some family dynamics with Skye’s sister and father, and this book has some healing in it, too.

Operation Find a Guy is the last book in the Road Trip series by Amy Anguish. In this final installment Skye is on the road to Colorado to save her car and find her direction in life. A fun-loving and quirky gal, she refuses to settle into a 9-5 humdrum and boring job. She also refuses to settle for a stuffed shirt kind of guy. Enter the bow-tie wearing attorney, Benjamin. At first glance, Skye thinks he isn't her type. But he proves to have a few quirks of his own as Skye begins to rub off on him. This is a fun summer read as Skye grows and finds her place in the world. You won't want to put it down until the last page!

Received a signed copy from the author. This was the first time reading a book by her. This was the third in the series but can be read as a stand alone. I really enjoyed it and now want to read the first two!

Loved it!
This is my voluntary review of a copy I received from the author.

This story features Christian characters. They pray frequently and go to church. There's even an answer to prayer.

Although the main characters are opposites in some ways, but are likable and their pairing seems honest. Their opposite viewpoints don't matter because she's only in town for the summer and they are only friends...

Operation Find a Guy
Roadtrip Romance #3
By Amy Anguish

Skye Jones just wants to have fun and enjoy life - if she has to work she doesn't want to do anything boring or be stuck in an office. Unfortunately her father doesn't see things her way. In fact he's threatened to take her away her car if she doesn't have a full time job by summer's end.

What's a girl to do? Take a temporary job with her sister's bridal shop, which is conviently located in another state.
Benjamin Smith has an appointment at Happily Ever After when a fancy red sports car almost takes him and his bicycle out. Imagine his surprise when he finds the same young woman helping out in the shop where he has an appointment.

Benjamin is everything Skye isn't looking for in a man. Starting with his job - a lawyer with a desk. And he wears bowtie! But preconceived notions are about to be turned around when Benjamin doesn't fit into the mold she placed him in.

Skye has equally baffled Benjamin with her need to have fun. But there more to her than she is presenting to those around her. And her father seems to be the driving force in why she doesn't want to be trapped in a world where THE JOB is everything even sacrificing family to achieve it. Nope not her!

This is cute read that has depth. The characters are all remarkably likeable, which wouldn't seem to be the case given Skye's personality. But as one gets to know Skye it all makes sense. And what better way to meet a nice guy than while working at a bridal shop. This a perfect summer release/read if you are looking for a clean contemporary Christian romance.

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but that I provide my honest opinion. All thoughts expressed are my own.

I really enjoy Christian Romance books and I also enjoy new to me authors. Operation Find a Guy by Amy Anguish is the most recent book that I have read that fits both of those situations. This is Book 3 of the Roadtrip Romance series. I have not read the first 2 in this series yet, but it seems to be a good Standalone book.

Skye Jones is working a Summer Job at her sisters Wedding Boutique in Boulder, Colorado. She finds it kind of ironic that she is doing this job as she has no intention of getting married in life. She is working this job for a variety of reasons, one being that she is trying to find a job that isn't boring. Benjamin Smith has agreed to be a Groomsmen in 2 Summer weddings and finds himself at Happily Ever After Bridal Shop often during the Summer months when Skye is working. Benjamin is a career man and he doesn't foresee himself settling down anytime soon, He does come to notice Skye and he seems to take a liking to her as he spends more and more time at the Bridal Shop. Will there be a Romance between Skye and Benjamin? Could Colorado Weddings bring this pair together?

I dove right into reading this book as soon as I received it and could not put it down. I will admit I was a bit put off by Skye and her attitude about life, but I think by the halfway point in the book, I began to see it was a wall she built up. Benjamin was a wonderful character from the very beginning, he truly has a Zest for life. I LOVED how Benjamin was able to get Skye to come out of her "shell" that she had put around herself. I am looking forward to reading the first 2 books in this series! GREAT BOOK!

This is the first book that I’ve read in the Roadtrip Romance series but I have to say it’s pretty stinkin’ cute, though it did take me some time to warm up to Skye.

At the beginning of the story, Skye’s attitude was so off-putting to me that I debated on continuing to read the novel! She is rude, snarky, and self-centered to poor Benjamin, but when he sees past all of these attributes and gives her a chance I figured I should too. I’m so glad I did.

Skye is “flirting with life” and not wanting to settle down, and even though her and Benjamin are complete opposites they also compliment one another perfectly. Their chemistry is palpable, and seeing them together just made me happy. I loved seeing redemption for Skye and getting to know some of her motivations for being the way she is, as well as the strength that Benjamin shows Skye, not willing to back down to her self-preserving tactics.

This is a Christian Fiction, so faith place a big part of the novel, the plot is very true to life, and there is a lot more depth to the story than what you’d think based on first glance. This is the first novel I’ve read in the Roadtrip Romance series, and now I’m curious about the rest of the series! I also have to say that Amy Anguish has found herself a new fan! :)

Throughout the Roadtrip Romance series, Skye has been my least favorite character. I honestly wasn't sure how the author was going to write a whole book focusing on her story and still keep my attention. While there are still elements to her character that would make friendship with Skye difficult at times, I feel this story establishes her on the road to redemption as a character and growth. She becomes aware of her own biases and faults, and Skye desires to overcome these. I can get behind that. And the way the author weaves in Skye's backstory, it doesn't excuse her behavior, but you're left understanding where it came from.

And I love her interactions with Benjamin. He's a sweet guy, but he's also just stubborn enough to not allow Skye's misconceptions of him deter him from getting to know her. He gently rips away her prejudices in a way that draws her and me as a reader to him even more. They are very much good for each other, and their banter and the way their relationship grows is enjoyable to me as a reader.

While I may have entered into the story with doubts, I leave the story able to say I believe this is my favorite in the road trip romance series. And I'm a bit sad that the girls' roadtrips have reached their end.

I received an ARC of this book from the author. The reviews and opinions are my own and freely give.

Are you in for a trip to Boulder, Colorado, with free-spirited Skye Jones? Operation: Find a Guy is book #3 in the Road Trip Romance series.

Skye is in Boulder to work for her sister for the summer while she searches for a job that's interesting, fun, and doesn't tie her down. Her motto is FLIRTS--"Fun Living in Right This Second." No boring job for her, and never will she be tied down with marriage.

When she meets Benjamin Smith, a suit-wearing lawyer, she immediately pegs him as a stuffed shirt who never has time for fun, like her own father. Benjamin is drawn to Skye and wants to know the real person hidden behind her protective armor that she's set up to hide her hurt. As Skye gets to know him better, she finds him hard to resist.

The characters in Amy's contemporary romance are life-like, faulty, with real problems to solve, and they sometimes find themselves in humorous situations. The plot is realistic and keeps you reading to discover if Skye finds a job and her happily-ever-after. I enjoy visiting the places she writes about.

I received an ARC of this book with no expectation of return. The opinions expressed are my own.

I completely fell in love with this book from the first page. Skye and Benjamin's initial encounter, and the ensuing snarky banter, were quick to land them within the realm of favorite characters. I expected a lot of fun and flirty moments, but there was depth as well. Skye has had a golden life with everything handed to her. When she's given an ultimatum, she thinks all of life is basically unfair. She just wants to have fun, and she misjudges Benjamin based on her own personal experience. I loved that the author took Skye through several obstacles to get her to see the truth about herself, and those around her. Just as we say not to judge a book by its cover, so we should not judge people based on name, job title, or anything else really. If you're looking for a great book with depth and heart, with characters who keep each other on their toes as they navigate a growing attraction, check out Operation Find a Guy. Amy Anguish does it again! Like all of her books, Operation Find A Guy was hard to put down. Each chapter left you wanting more and to see what would happen next.

I really enjoyed the main character Skye because she grows so much throughout the book and she really learns to bloom where she is planted. It was a beautiful story about family, friends, and personal growth and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to settle in for an adventure. It was fun to see each person in the story unfold and discover their journey of becoming their best self.

A fun book to read. I enjoyed the characters interaction. A unique twist of a romance plot. This is book three of a series about three women and this tells the story of the third woman. This story is as unique as she is. I received a copy of this book and these opinions are my own.

I enjoyed this series and while each book was fun to read, each also had characters dealing with issues in their lives that had to be resolved. Also Amy Anguish is great at including Faith in her books and in a very real and natural way. Operation Find a Guy was no exception. In fact, I believe Skye had the deepest issue of them all and I felt for her as she struggled with it. Beautiful story and a great ending to this series.
