Re-read this book as an adult and enjoyed it just as much as when I was a child. I’ve been reading some heavy topics lately so to break it up I thought I’d revisit some Pete Johnson for an easy read and mood lifter, and it met the criteria perfectly. I love the jokey narrative, and the confidence of young Joe, and his wise friend Lee - this perfectly captures the essence of childhood thoughts and scheming, it was great!

I really enjoyed this book as a child when we were read it in class, I went out and borrowed it from my local library several times, I enjoyed it so much! It has some super lovable characters, and Johnson writes in a funny, engaging way, all kids are bound to enjoy this tale!
