About the author

Masashi Kishimoto (岸本斉史 Kishimoto Masashi) is a Japanese manga artist, well known for creating the manga series Naruto. His younger twin brother, Seishi Kishimoto, is also a manga artist and creator of the manga series O-Parts Hunter (666 Satan) and Blazer Drive. Two of his former assistants, Osamu Kajisa (Tattoo Hearts) and Yuuichi Itakura (Hand's), have also gone on to moderate success following their work on Naruto.

Kishimoto's first work as a manga artist was Karakuri (カラクリ?), which he submitted to Shueisha in 1995. This earned him the Weekly Shōnen Jump's monthly "Hop Step Award" in 1996, granted to promising new manga artists. This was followed in 1997 by a pilot version of Naruto (NARUTO－ナルト－), published in Akamaru Jump Summer. In 1998, Kishimoto premiered as a Weekly Shōnen Jump artist with a serialized version of Karakuri in Weekly Shōnen Jump, but it proved unpopular and was canceled soon after. In 1999, a serialized version of Naruto began publication in Weekly Shōnen Jump and quickly became a hit.

After one and half month of commitment I finished this manga series . It took me a lot to convince even myself . So if you aren't ready to commit to this 72-volume series yet , I'd suggest you start reading some other short manga series .



This was the defining moment for me in the manga . Before this point , Naruto was your regular fast paced shōnen manga , but had a unique style, strong storyline . The art was full of life . And after this point , it became drab , convoluted . Kishimoto tried repeating the same formula . Naruto faces stronger foe , trains and becomes stronger . Repeat .

That's why I brought down my rating to 3 stars . After the time leap , even the interesting characters became boring . *Looks at you Gaara* Another thing I found annoying in this series is the attention given to Sasuke . He might be a main character , but that doesn't mean his story is fun .

Finally , I'd reveal my 3 favorite characters from the series . They are - Kakashi , Itachi and Obito . Even with those flaws Naruto is a gem of a manga series . Try reading this , if you ever want to read about a knuckle-headed ninja who wants to become a hokage .

I have this box set :3 has the entire manga series of the younger Naruto before the Shippuden part of the Manga begins. The box set has a door to close it and a plastic carrying handle, it also can be mounted on the wall for display. This box set is hard to find. It also comes with double sided colour posters and a mini booklet.

I was never into manga. even when my bestie was reading i dutifully stuck to regular books. this year my brother requested that i watch Naruto anime. initially i did not want to. i thought of gently letting him down. but i knew that i would not be able to lie to him, i had to atleast watch a single episode. so i watched the first episode. i honestly say i don't know what happened. one moment i am watching episode 1 and he next i am racing along. i got officially obsessed. my brother also said i should read the manga. i did as directed. it took obsession to a brand new level.
its quite obvious i love this manga. its riddled with plot holes and has some seriously annoying characters. it is a wonder i can see through these imperfections in my stunned condition. so what? i love love love love Naruto from the bottom of my heart. it was an emotional roller coaster. i cried more than i would have for any book.

It was good. Watched the anime first, so I had a lot of sound effects and voices in my head while reading this. I even sometimes read a scene and then watched the animated version of this same scene.

Unfortunately it is non-explicit. For example if you have Hidan (box set 2) you won't hear his typical cursing, which in my opinion is a loss. Nevertheless, it is a good story for something as long as it is. I give it 5 stars because it is just a really good story and THE MOST beloved story world for me.

Also read 28-36, 40-48 (from Itachi agreeing to a confrontation with Sasuke to Naruto being hailed for defeating the latest big bad), 71/72 (reverse harem vs. Kaguya, power of love vs. Sasuke).

Highlights are Naruto's endless positivity despite his circumstances & Itachi's tragicness that doesn't get to be tiring emoness like his brother. Shikamaru and Gaara have nice development too. Showdowns tend to take up a lot of time but end anticlimactically. Still better than Bleach which doesn't try very hard to keep having story during the endless showdowns.

Good series, but it's not great. It goes to crap towards the end, but it wasn't a mistake to read because I enjoyed it overall and watched and read it at a relatively young age. I would not recommend this series to seasoned manga readers because it would be a waste of time. This is most certainly a good series for young kids and teens to enjoy the great fights.

This reread was SO FUN.

If ya'll didn't know, Naruto was my literal childhood - I started watching it when I was 7, and reading it when I was 10. I kept up with it right up until the final chapter, and had yet to reread it straight through (though I have read several volumes/arcs and watched the entirety of the Part 1 anime several times).

I can't WAIT to move on to Shippuden since that's the one I've never actually reread/rewatched EVER. AHHH.
