The craving was maddening. Uncontrollable. I inhaled her. My fangs ached. And every time I looked into her eyes, the dagger of desire was thrust ever further into my broken soul. I—the Quiet King—who held dominion over countless beings, found myself absolutely enslaved by this enchanting blood mage. But would she ever submit to me? Or would I have to take what I desire?
Kenya Wright wrote her first novel during her third year at UM Law school. She dropped out a month after the release and never looked back.
Words are power, and Kenya wants to be the greatest wizard that ever lived.
It's an audacity to inspire and teach the healing of love through arousal.
It's this crazy idea that love can not only help a reader escape, but the story can also teach the person about being human, while making them laugh, cry, and hot for more sex.
I was glad to read the quiet king point of view. I don't think he can change, the question was asked should he die. I was hoping he would change for the blood mage but all he can think about is his first queen. I hope he die bc I prefer her to be with Ian he's a better king.
Wow!!! This series has me in a chokehold, I was not expecting this twist with the quiet king but I absolutely love it. I was worried that the mage would be Ian's love interest & I didn't want that, I like him in the poly with Camille & Xander. I really love this new couple. The first two books we saw bits & pieces of nai humanity in the flashbacks but for the most part he seemed irredeemably evil. So to see that change in his story is so satisfying. I hope in the next book he realizes how evil his first queen was, I wonder will he have to choose between his queens. Seraphine is written so well, she has it all. She's firece but has an innocence that's endearing. Kenya if you haven't been told this enough I will say it every time. You have a gift, an undeniable talent. I read a lot so this isn't hyperbole when I say that NOBODY is writing books like yours, I say this in every review for you but there is a cinematic quality to your storytelling. I'm so grateful for your books.
Baby this right here! I lie that he is healed and all but baby when he find out about that first queen…”it gonna be trouble trouble “ in my Bernie Mac voice 😂😂😂
Ooooh. That’s a tricky question. Unlike some peeps, I was happy to see this book in the installment. We definitely needed to see things from the Quiet King's perspective to get a better sense of who he was at his core. And what led him down the path of death and destruction. He was so sweet and a kinda dorky. And I love that he who loved to read. He was adorable, and initially easy to love. Aaaand then he met Phinova. 😒
Light spoilers ahead!
I wish we had gotten a little more backstory on the twin’s relationship with Phinova. We’ve touched on it here and there, but I was hoping this would delve a little more into it. However, most of their history is left to context clues and speculation, which is fine. Ultimately she was an evil tw@t from the beginning, even before she died. That’s all we really need to know.
In this book, all the way up until that last chapter, I had a good feeling about Nai. I was happy to see that he wasn’t some monolith incapable of evolving past being a monster. HOWEVER, that last chapter has me backpedaling a bit. We already know Phinova's evil little corpse is dust in the wind. And to find out what Nai has as bargaining chips makes me wonder how this last book will pan out. And if he truly can be redeemed. Even his delusional thoughts surrounding what he would do and the lengths he would go to just to get that dusty Phinova back were deplorable. And after all those other chapters showing us that he may be worthy of not getting decapitated, they were quickly swept under the rug with this one chapter. And mainly the last couple of pages. So now I’m torn. I suppose if Seraphine can SOMEHOW convince his crazy a$$ that Phinova was toxic to him from the jump and not worth going to war or going forward with his plans for the pawns. AND Xander and Ian don’t smoke him for even threatening those pawns. Then maybe everyone can get a HEA…but somehow, I’m afraid it won’t be that easy.
I understand people being thrown off that the POV changed, but, I mean, it was good! The book did a great job at fleshing out the story.
Book 3 makes the war far more interesting, and whether the QK was redeemed or not doesn't really matter. He is now real and a part of the story, not just some one-dimensional bad guy. Furthermore, his actions and thoughts read like an all-powerful vampire king who has been around for quite some time. Oftentimes, authors tell you some old vampire is ruthless and crazy but they don't make it believable. The redemption arch is a tad bit heavy-handed, but I did not find myself rolling my eyes too much. The QK is old, and he reads like a character who has lived a long time and is just a bit excited to have some action in his life. He is not good nor bad he just is. Even with, again, the redemption being a tad eyebrow arching the QK POV shows some seriously skilled writing chops. Great read.
While not nearly as erotic as the first two (which was heavy on the erotic), I can see these books being one mass volume that is read through all at once in the future. I think, once the series is complete, anyone reading all of the books at once will not find this one out of place.
On a last note, I really enjoyed the book because it was a pallette cleanser from all of the....heavy petting... of the first books. Don't mistake my comments, I did enjoyed the steaminess of the first two books. However, at times, I also found the trouple hotness to be pretty intense. Sometimes, to the detriment of furthering the story. This addition means getting the heat AND a great story when the series eventually gets read all at once.
Checking out the Quiet King's side of the story was interesting, but I'm still not a fan. It looks like he might be trying to change, but he's definitely not there yet. I really wished Seraphine had stayed to help Camille learn to control her powers better. Now, I'm just sitting here waiting for the 4th book because I've got to see what happens next.
Sometimes you don’t that want something until you get it
I read the book weeks ago, but didn’t know what I wanted to say in review. I usually have an instant visceral reaction to Kenya’s books but The Heart Mage is subtle like a round of quiet powerful lovemaking that stays in your thoughts days and weeks later. The themes of Redemption, Love, and Forgiveness are always woven into Kenya’s books but The Heart Mage has an added layer of shadow work that just may have you questioning your previous perceptions.
As usual you will be taken on a scenic ride the is well worth the journey to the next destination.
So the quiet king is no longer quiet. His first queen was/is evil. All of his promises hinges on him getting Phinova back but based on book 2 we know that isn’t happening. So he will now be the blood king because he’s definitely going to be out for it. Sera phone should’ve listened to Ian but now she’s stuck being queen #2. I got hopeful that Ian was going to get his own blood queen in Seraphine but that hope died when she was captured. Reading this story gave me a different view of the quiet king. But I don’t think he can be redeemed. I’m more worried about his and that grimoires influence on Seraphine now that she has been given the d and the lives of her tormentors. He’s endeared himself to her at this point, but she has no idea the monster she is sleeping with. I already knew queen 1 was evil based on Ian’s recollection. This book was well written and was more of Seraphines story than explaining the quiet kings perspective. Jury is still out as to if it needed to be book 3 instead of a novella tho. Good read
The Heart's Mage is the third installment in Kenya Wright's The Immortal Crown Saga, a captivating narrative that blends elements of paranormal, romance, and suspense. Wright's skillful use of storytelling devices adds layers of intrigue and depth to the story, which kept me guessing. The twists and turns used to connect characters like Xander, Camille, and Ian are genius and left me anticipating what comes next. At the heart of the saga lies the unexpected gift bestowed upon Nai, the Quiet King, in the form of Seraphine. This unexpected turn of events adds a compelling dynamic to the story.
One minor quibble is the lack of assistance offered to Camille in her quest to discover her true identity. The Immortal Crown Saga stands as a testament to Kenya Wright's mastery of storytelling, with its richly drawn characters, gripping plot twists, and intricate world-building, ensuring it captivates readers and leaves them eagerly awaiting the next installment, as I am.
Ok first I would like to start out that this author does an amazing job and I do love this series but I just can’t with Nai. There is no redemption for him we learned that him and his first queen set out to kill there entire families in book 2. Then you want to start this book out as a shy prince who loves and cries to romance books? We learn over 2 book how Nai kills his male children rapes and kills women regularly. Kill people constantly cause he can screws a corpse for a hundred years but now we should feel bad for him or maybe feel he can be redeemed but he just can’t very few villains are worse then this guy in books I hope his death is slow and severely painful as to seraphin I really can’t care less what happens to her she is a coward in my book but I can not wait to see what happens in book 4
I was confused by Ms Wright's picture for this story on Instagram. But after Seraphina was captured, I understood. Is Ian redeemable? That is the question. I'm on the fence. Is his ruthlessness justified? I don't like his first love, so my answer is no. But if the issue was something else, would I do the same thing. Probably not. Ian doesn't see his actions as wrong because of his obsession. Can Seraphine help him? I hope so but if not, you're not going to see much remorse from me.
The story of The Silent King and his Blood Mage Queen was awesome. The story gave a glimpse into who the silent king is and a little background on his descent into darkness. Thank to his second Queen which by the way is very strong and is not only physically healing the king but is also healing him emotionally, while developing her new powers. Hope they get a happy ending.
If he still believes his first Queen is alive, there no amount of magic that can heal is deranged mind. This book was alot mental one sided dialog. Not as entertaining as the second book, but it held enough curiosity. Now that I'm ready for the end it's a waiting game. Hopefully by February I'll not loose interest. If so I do recommend this series but wait till the final book to come out before starting.
Yea, this might be my signal to get off of this train. I like that the twists and turns made it unpredictable but no, the Quiet King was not redeemed and the quick turn in the live story through me for a loop. It was too fast to be believed. What's the rush? I mean, it doesn't have to be a slow burn romance but it shouldn't give me whiplash either. I'll probably read the next one because my pseudo-OCD won't allow for anything else. But I won't like it.
I downloaded the book a while ago and it took such a long time to read it. Now I wish I would have read it earlier. I really enjoyed the series.
Ian: I see him as a bit selfish, even though he is doing good and being loyal to the horned king. I think it is selfish for him to always want to share. He does indeed need his own Queen.
Xander: I feel for him his love for his Queen is so strong, that he would compromise his true feelings for his Queen.
Ian did all he could to prevent Seraphine, from leaving the safety of their camp, to no avail. Seraphine finds herself captured by the Quiet King-Nai. Nai had been blind, deaf and muted for sometime. He knew Seraphine was a blood mage, but he didn't know the power she had. Seraphine finds herself bonded to the king, but she doesn't know what that entails. Nai has one thing on his mind, getting Phinova back, at any cost.
Wow I did not see that coming. So what a fun shocking and unexpected twist. Very well written. The voice acting was an A plus performance! Thank you for that. Prefect casting. I’m biting my nails just waiting to see what happens next. It’s about to go down. I feel like it’s going to be soooo much action, drama, betrayal, and just a whole lot of omg moments coming up. Crossing my fingers for another book.🙌🏾👏🏾🔥🔥🔥🔥🩸🩸🩸😍😈 5 ⭐️
What a twist this book and this series has been. I’m still not liking the Quiet King. He has not redeemed himself in my eyes yet. Can’t wait for next installment to see how this all plays out. It would have been interesting to see what Camille, The Horned King and Ian are up to at the moment. Regardless the story is awesome. Nice to see the Quiet King’s point of view and poor Seraphine.
I think this would have been better off as a novella or spin-off. The original story was about Camille and Xander, and I was really looking forward to seeing what came next. I really love the first two books. However, this story was about Nai and didn't progress the original storyline at all.
I did not see Nai and Sera together by a long shot I wanted IAN! Buuuuut it will be so entertaining to see how the war plays out now that Nai has a powerful blood mate. Is the playing field even? Will Camila really become strong? Will sheeee get trained by Reye? So many questions! But tbh this love was quit fast and full throttle. Still I can not wait for book 4 !
A prince too gullible and easily manipulated by his 1st love Phinova. Her machinations along with his jealousy of his twin brother led to his psychotic delusions. Unless he truly reexamines the past and Phinova's quest for power, there will be no redemption for him. Poor Nai.
Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Trope: emotional scars, enemies to lovers, forced proximity Angst: 😱😱😱😱 Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥 This series has me in a chokehold. How dare we get another cliffhanger!!! This book was so needed because we got an insight into the Quiet King. When I started to like him, thinking he has been redeemed, he thinks the unthinkable. This is book 3 and cannot be read as a standalone.
I hate to say this, but I like the “ quiet king.” I felt terrible for him because his first queen manipulated him and, due to the evil, took away his kind spirit. Yes. He did awful things, but he wasn’t his true self. I hope he can redeem himself.
Ma'am! This story is so freaking good! I love it and I'm ready to go to war for my girl, seraphine! She's been through so much! I would love to see a drawing of the Elvin people! Also, Now needs to LISTEN! Everyone is warning him about that dang demon! Ugh!!!
I didn’t love this book as much as the first two. Basically the story has a shift of perspective that I hadn’t expected and didn’t want to want. Slightly annoyed, I trudged on and enjoyed it for what it offered. This is not the last book…
These books are so well written I want them as a movie this universe is so believable please don’t end this in the next installment the quite king has become endearing to me I need more!!!
Very good read. The ending of each story in this series just keeps everyone at the edge of their seat with anticipation. I enjoyed reading from the Quiet King’s/ Nai’s point of view. It humanizes him some and we get to understand a lot about why he moves the way he does.
Wright has me so enthralled that simply could not read fast enough. This series must be read in order to truly appreciate this otherworldly journey. I definitely didn’t agree with Seraphine’s choices but given her traumas and starvations I can’t fault her for them.
I loved getting the back story of Nai. As well as seeing him transform from the Quiet King back to Nai the more he feed from Seraphine. Also, seeing the relationship grow and blossom was perfection. I cant wait from the next book to see how everything plays out.
While I love the series I need the final book. This book was just as good as the second book, but I don’t understand starting new series and not finishing the others.
