The Iron Fox Tales: A Collection of Short Stories

Rate this book
You met The Iron Fox Legion in Doompoint, now learn of the legends behind them…

In “Knight Errant,” Dane must help a wandering knight who saved his life put a stop to a group of murderous bandits.

“The Bard” sees Dane come into contact with a minstrel who has more courage than sense, following on the heels of the Iron Fox Legion to be the first to compose songs of their victories.

The tale of “Beginnings” shows Dane’s first interaction with the Legion, and how he came to join their ranks.

Oddwen and Spencyr must survive capture after infiltrating the dangerous swamp compound of a group of rabid cultists in “The Angry Spirits.”

With the Iron Foxes providing security at a wealthy family’s party, Dane must navigate the verbal battlefield with an alluring serving woman who captures his attention in “Twilight Pleasantries.”

Witness Dane and Amir’s “First Impressions,” and how their first mission together brought them close to perhaps the vilest enemy they ever faced.

“A Long Goodbye” has Amir spending a bittersweet afternoon with a friend before he sails back to Akreya.

Dane and Amir must brave the mysteries of an unholy night to find hidden answers in “Curse of the Violet Moon,” while everyone is one step away from madness.

These tales are filled to the brim with action, adventure, triumph, and suffering, and serve as a great introduction to the world and characters of Sam Bates that will surely leave you wanting more.

I was born in Bowling Green, Kentucky in 1995. I've been creating stories of my own since I was 8 years old, and attended several writing workshops in the summers of my youth. My favorite genre to write is fantasy, but you can expect to see work from me that covers a wide variety of settings. I have the best support group of friends and family that a guy could ask for!

I really like that the stories include a lot of variety and emotional contrast. The subtle connections between events and past characters are interesting, and the time skips also help show Dane’s growth and experience within the Iron Fox Legion. This is very well thought out and very impressive that a writer local to me wrote it!
