That’s how Roman responds when he discovers his family may hold the key to unlocking the secrets of Angela’s past.
And war may be what it takes.
He left a trail of bodies in his wake when he renounced his famiglia years ago. They don’t forgive or forget.
But neither does he.
With more to lose than ever before, Roman begins to hunt for the man who stole his woman’s innocence – her very soul – when she was a teenager.
He’s never met an enemy he couldn’t defeat. But he soon learns that catching a ghost is impossible.
With a traitor sabotaging them from within, and a monster lurking in the shadows, will Roman and his criminal empire be able to save Angela in time?
Please This is book two in a duet, with a guaranteed HEA for this couple. But it is still an ongoing series, and future books set in this world will follow directly on from this book.
5⭐️I loved this book. I did not know that this was a duet type series so I was expecting it to be the other FMC that was introduced in the last one but I’m really glad that it wasn’t because I really enjoyed learning more about these two. I love all the characters. Each one of them has a little place in my heart like when things happen to them I was like “oh buddy” I really felt connected to them all. It was a great story. It’s a great world.
I really enjoy mafia man. I love the touch her and be ended kind of vibes. I love the Alpha possessiveness but Angel the FMC?! She holds her own mate, like she is my woman crush Wednesday. She’s intense. I love that she never gets rattled by his presence, they’re a perfect match for each other.
This plot is next level the plot twist with flawless? I did not pick any of them. I did not know what was going on but I loved it when it was all revealed. But also why the massive cliffhangers? Why do you do that? I need to know what’s happening. I need to know right now! Great series!
What a perfect continuation from book 1! While the first explored the trials and tribulations of Angel and Roman's "will they or won't they" relationship, book 2 then delves into their dark pasts to help them recover from their traumas, and seek vengeance at the same time. This story answered so many questions that were left at the beginning of book one, and wrapped up Angela and Romans story so well, but has ended on such a cliff-hanger to lead into Abel's story that waiting until November for the next book's release is going to be torturous! Well done to the author for taking a highly saturated genre like mafia romance and making it a wholly new and intriguing story! I will be waiting (un)patiently for the next instalment!! Tropes: enemies to lovers, opposites attract, protector/nurturer dynamic, older woman/younger man, kidnapping to love, billionaire romance, found family, chosen family vs. blood family Triggers: Kidnapping, human trafficking, stalking, sexual assault/rape, child abuse, mental health issues, death, gore/violence, medical procedures, blood, paedophilias, torture, gun violence, PTSD, fire/burning. A quote from possibly my favourite character in the books: "Perhaps you don't need to say anything. Perhaps it's time to listen... and remember, not all listening is done through the ears. The heart, now that is the best listener of all."
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ One-Way Ride continues the high-stakes saga with a gripping, emotional intensity. The stakes are even higher now, as Roman embarks on a dangerous journey to uncover the secrets of Angela’s past, a quest that brings him face-to-face with his criminal empire’s darkest corners. The plot thickens with a vengeance, especially when a traitor sabotages them and a mysterious enemy lurks in the shadows. The chemistry between Roman and Angela remains sizzling, but what stands out in this second book is the depth of their connection. Roman’s fierce devotion to Angela drives the plot, and seeing his ruthless past collide with his protective instincts adds layers to his character. The romantic tension is still incredibly strong, but there’s more emotional vulnerability from both characters this time around. While the book’s pacing might feel a little uneven at times, the action and twists make up for it. Fans of intense Mafia romances will find plenty to love here, especially with the promise of a HEA, even if the larger world-building hints at more to come. The unresolved tension leaves a lot of room for future developments in the series.
Great Duet, but it ended on another cliffhanger, and I'm curious to see how we switch mains to continue the story when it's still pretty much about Angel and Roman. But we shall see. The only slight issues I had with this book were: 1. that I wanted more drama. There was a lot of detail when Roman was torturing ppl, but when it came to the action, it was a bit too quick. I wanted Angel to be kidnapped or in a car chase or gun fight or something, but we didn't really get that. 2. The dialogue does read (to me) a bit young they are supposed to be in late 30s mafia types with truama.. but they acted like they were teens most of the time, and it was slightly annoying. I enjoyed all the cameos from book 1, and the dinner with Sister Pip was amusing. I am looking forward to Abel's story and the continuing of this series.
Somebody tell me what number to call to hire the mafia cause god damn!
This book picked up right where book 1 ended! The pacing was fantastic with top tier plot that had you hooked from the start with a cliffhanger ending that makes you need the next book now!
The force is strong with this found family and you can’t help but fall inlove further with them and can’t wait to read their books!
Oh god the spice in this book will have you needing to jump in a ice bath to cool down! 🥵
I listened to the audiobook and let’s just say that Aidan Snow and Michelle Price killed it! They did such a good job of brining the characters to life! It’s dual narration and only available on audible!
I definitely recommend this series and cannot wait for the next book in the series to be out!
I loved immersing myself back in Romans world and the growing relationship and trust between him and Angela. The spice amps up in this one and we have more character development between Angel, Roman and the crew. Abel and Morrigian certainly make me laugh. Morrigian is bad arse! And another cliff hanger ending! Just when I thought we'd get a happy ending before the next two books in the series which focus on a different coupling. False sense of security there.... The plot is easy to follow, with some twists I didn't see coming. The relationships between all our main players are written well and you really start getting a great sense of who they are.
Finished this book as quick, if not quicker, than I finished the first! I immediately purchased this one after finishing the last, and I am entirely hooked on this series. The plot had me stressed and excited, and the way little pieces of the narrative are withheld until certain points of the story to reveal the twists is so perfect! The story had me anxious at all the best times and laughing at all the funniest! The ending, without spoiling anything specific, had me so excited and happy to see a continued HEA for our beloved couple Roman & Angel. The epilogue baited me perfectly, and I can't wait to read the next part of the series!! So looking forward to Abel & Claire next!!
I loved this duet. Roman and Angela’s romance. The self redemption and the revenge! Godfrey gets what he deserves and of course, even though there’s a HEA, the drama continues!!! I honestly HATE Cliff hangers because I am on edge! but listen I’m anxiously awaiting the next books to come out and I really want to know what happened to the sister! And is Angela safe? Where did all the women go?! Who was that in the epilogue?! So many questions, Darcy please hurry! I need to know 🙁🙁
Holy hotness Roman and Angela's chemistry just leaps off the page, it so intoxicating and sexy to read!! Darcy has so easilt made me fall in love with this broken mafioso family. The world created from book 1 just gets better in book 2, the mystery, violence, sex, love and torture is everything I never knew I needed in my life! Don't walk run to buy Silver or Lead and dive in with both feet you won't be sorry!!
One-Way Ride continues on where book 1 finished. I really like this authors writing style. The storyline flows from beginning to end. We have some edge of your seat moments, some laugh out loud moments and some down right dirty moments. Angela and Roman are perfect together and the rest of the crew are hilarious but so protective of their family Unit. Loved this book. Can’t wait for Abel’s story

I’m out
What a brilliant conclusion to this duet, for all that this is primarily a love story there’s plenty of grim, gritty and often graphic plot to go with it. The characters are vivid and believable, the dark reality of the plot is frankly terrifying but it does make for a compelling read.
Can’t recommend this series highly enough. I’m just a little saddened that I’m going to have to wait for more!
The second entry in the 'Mafia for Hire' series is an excellent installment of the series. Darcy Halifax's writing style is very easy to read and the darker, grittier tone is very enjoyable. I'd thoroughly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well crafted, fast paced read. The only downside is now I have to wait for the next installment.
Angel and Roman are back in this fast paced, spice filled sequel to Silver or Lead.
Roman has secrets. So does Angela. And when their past starts to unravel, their future starts to implode.
Intrigue, found family, and side character growth all made this a fabulous follow up to book one ... and the cliffhanger at the end - trust me, you will NOT see it coming!
Just like with Silver or Lead, I couldn’t put this book down! So happy to find out Angel and Roman got their HEA!! I’m curious to find out what will happen between Abel and Claire!!
2.5/5* I know it’s wild but I skipped the sex in this book and just read it for the completion of the plot. I did find some parts to be very ‘tell’ not ‘show’ but I’m interested in all the characters and the plot line as it continues
Oh my gosh I love this book , I love Angela and Roman their chemistry rocks , I think the take no prisoners attitude suits them both , and smith and Wesson so cool . Can’t wait to read more
These books were just straight up a good time. And I’m always here for characters not miscommunicating and actually talking to each other and working together.
The first book was definitely better, but the plot and theme of this book was amazing!! Now the ending is a whole other story in its self. I cannot wait for the next book!!
