Theophilus Monroe is a fantasy author with a knack for real-life characters whose supernatural experiences speak to the pangs of ordinary life. After earning his Ph.D. in Theology, he decided that academic treatises that no one will read (beyond other academics) was a dull way to spend his life. So, he began using his background in religious studies to create new worlds and forms of magic-informed by religious myths, ancient and modern-that would intrigue readers, inspire imaginations, and speak to real-world problems in fantastical ways.

There are many reasons I enjoy a Theo book, one is the brilliant pacing, two is his prose, three is his storytelling, four is that character's are fun but heartfelt, five is they all connect throughout the awesome world he builds and, of course, the humour which always catches me off guard. I find myself immersed, giggling and and delighted each time I read any of his books. This is a fabulous box set, separate series but connect to each other.

DRUIDS DANCE:
Oh gosh and straight away with the feels! Starting off through the eyes of Myrrdn, Elijah's world is turned upside down, he's just a normal boy trying to get through high school who has a major crash on girl, normal, right? But what strange things happen around him and to him, he discovers he's not quite so normal. I loved getting to know him, I loved the complicated love triangle, I loved Emilie and I completely love Joni! But most of all, I love how the author brought in present, past and future into such a seamless presentation. I was so captivated to see where Elijah's life would go as he comes into his magic. How awesome it is when characters make mistakes, and then try to correct them. I felt so sorry for Emilie, heck, she's so sweet but the tumultuous relationship of Elijah and Joni has a purpose. That purpose is Merlin, a son born to them who's not a normal baby...yes, he's THAT Merlin of lore! But gosh I wasn't expecting the dilemma Joni had to face, family or duty,...A book full of burgeoning magic, mysterious entities, where nothing is as it seems.
BARD'S TALE:
Elijah is getting to understand himself and who he is, his purpose and his magic. But with the source of his magic failing, he scrambles to find a solution, he has to best the Morrigan before she destroys it all. Another fabulous read, taking in elements of Celtic lore, mythical characters to a new level. I loved the twists on historical references, as I did the going back and forth from present to past to future in a way that makes complete sense, amazingly. And that's what this author attains through his storytelling, his craftsmanship is excellent as he pulls it all together, taking me to unimaginable places. This was an action packed read, fast paced and tense, buffered by the tender, this is a story and series I highly recommend.
OVATE'S CALL:
Well just when I didn't think things could get more intense, they did! A showdown with the Morrigan is inevitable and good me was that a battle! Loved the action! As is signature to this author's storytelling, he sets a fast pace throughout and builds on his unique take in his unique world. A world that transports me from Annwn to facing magical creatures. I really enjoyed seeing Emilie come into her own as a bard, although, their relationship is sti...complicated, there are wonderful glimpses of their affection. There's the added solving of mystery, like a Princess who suddenly appears but what IS her agenda? What does she want with Elijah? Well heck, best you find out for yourself! This author has a genuine gift, his imaginative Another fantastic read by this fantastic author, who'll keep you guessing and thoroughly enthralled!
WYRMRIDER ASCENSION:
What a great start to a great new series! It was a much anticipated book about Joni, having met her in previous books, this book explores how she manages to integrate with the Fomorian people. Half human, half mermaid, she is distrusted by the Merpeople. With the ability to siphon magic from any magical item, yet possessing no magic of her own, she has many challenges facing her, not least of all, how to prevent the Void from consuming Fomaria and the world. Because of the Dragon curse, which is now a part of her, Joni is able to connect and communicate with the giant Wyrms, and they become allies to prevent the disaster. I particularly love how Merlin keeps popping up, in various ages and stages. Going between different times and ages is so masterfully handled, seamlessly and is integral to the storyline. It's actually fun to read how Joni can transform from mermaid to human and how banal questions, like basic bodily functions, in an underwater world were addressed! I certainly did wonder but it was so masterfully written into the story, without looking like an afterthought. Joni is a strong character and her love for her son Merlin, is her driving force. There are plots within plots but smoothly and that's what makes this such a great read! One never knows what will happen next...can't wait to read what happens next! Definitely a recommended read!
Wyrmrider Vengeance:
I always felt a special affinity for Joni, when I first met her in a previous series and after reading Wyrmrider Ascending, I was really excited to read how she her story evolved. In the 2nd of the series, we get to see how she's adjusting to being queen and her new marriage. I just adore how Theo managed to portray her as normal person, one who is overwhelmed by her duty, who loves , feels inadequate from all the responsibility and all the emotions that are so real. And her character is so cool, she's witty and funny, she can shift from mermaid to human to dragon! AND she Merlin's mother, yes, THE Merlin! I was thrilled that Nico and Ramon featured in this book and even our favourite Vampire witch makes an appearance. That is motivation to read the previous series to find out more, but not a necessity, the story flows smoothly and one never feels that anything is lacking. I love the interaction of Joni with her Wyrm, the warmth and caring they feel for one another is beautifully created. One of my favourite character has to be Chad totally wacky! In fact, the entire book is a fascinating story, going back and forth in time, Joni tries to stop a Zombie Apocalypse, both in the ocean and for the humans. Just as she thinks she's managed to avert disaster, she faces another obstacle, this one so huge, it literally changes her! I don't want to give anything away, so I'll just say, if you enjoy being engaged and entertained and meeting interesting unusual characters, this one is for you! Great plot, great execution, great read!
Wyrmrider Justice:
A really fun read! I simply adore Joni! She has been queen of Fomoria for a year but has yet to gain total acceptance from her people. Being half human, with a good dose of Vampire, her emotions and desires, her culinary tastes, are different to that of the Fomorians. I enjoy how the author highlights the differences in a very credible way. I especially like the humor interspersed throughout, I caught myself laughing out loud quite a bit. Joni and Awye, her husband, find it very difficult to connect on an emotional level and Joni decides they need an adventure to bring them closer together. What she comes up with, has her bargaining with Odin and the Baron. If she fails, she loses everything, from her magic to her very soul. Yet, against again all odds, she manages to outwit them! Loved that! It's a well written, well paced book, with just the right amount action. Such wonderful characters that are real and interesting. So much so, that I find it hard to decide who my favourite is! And with Thor being thrown into the mix, this series gets better and better! For anyone who hasn't started the series, you're missing out on the ride of your life! No pun intended...
Rise of the Morrigan:
From the 1st sentence to the very last, I was captivated and I found it hard to put down! I was propelled into a wonderful tale of betrayal, love and sacrifice. This book is an absolute must read! Betrayed by a cruel and emotionless father, who only has vengeance on his mind, 3 sisters are given to a god so that he might be granted his wish. The God is in need of a wife but no one has come close to being suitable. The God decides the sisters combined into a single entity would satisfy his desire and sets about doing just that! The Morrigan is born but with a strong will of her own, she does not succumb to the god's whims. She makes a pact with him and sets out as the Phantom Queen, goddess of death and war. A young man, destined to be a warrior and champion captures her heart. He loathes his role and killing but fate keeps propelling him to defend and destroy. He would that there be no war nor killing yet lands up at the mercy of a ruthless king, who revels in wanting dominance. The Morrigan's choices and manipulations don't have the outcome she desires and it all back fires. Through it all, the reluctant hero and the Morrigan struggle with the inner turmoil of what is right from wrong and try to align this with who they ultimately are. This story affords the reader insight and clarity for Theo's other series, namely Gates of Eden and ties it all together. It's a well written tale with a twist, truly worth reading!

Druids, Dragons, and Demigods . . .

Two sets of books are combined in this wonderful box set. GATES OF EDEN will immerse you in a supernatural world of amazing druids, dragons, demigods and exciting adventures! Its prequel “Rise of the Morrigan” is a stand-alone epic in fantasy mythology that guides us into the world of the Gates of Eden. THE FOMORIAN WYRMRIDERS is the other series providing a thrilling adventure into a world of mermaids and includes dragons, vampires, voodoo witches, and other supernatural threats. The female character Joni Campbell has grown into a snarky, powerful heroine who rides sea dragons. There is plenty in this huge combination to keep even the most avid reader on the edge of the seat! Below is a review of one of the books to give you an idea of what you will find here. Enjoy!

Titles included are:
📌 Druid’s Dance
📌 Bard’s Tale
📌 Ovate’s Call
📌 Rise of the Morrigan
📌 Wyrmrider Ascending
📌 Wyrmrider Vengeance
📌 Wyrmrider Justice
📌 Wyrmrider Academy

*** Reviewing “WYRMRIDER ASCENDING (#1)” ***
The story focuses on Joni Campbell. When she had been trapped in the void and needed to siphon dragon magic to escape, she took on the Dragon curse, which became a part of her. This fortunately gives her the ability to communicate with the Wyrm, similar to but larger than dragons and very frightening. Yet something even worse is coming to the mer-kingdom of Fomoria and New Orleans. If Joni can make allies of the Wyrm, perhaps they can fight with her against this unknown enemy. But she will have to save them from the merfolk first. And if they can’t join forces, it could mean the death of merfolk, humans, and perhaps threaten existence itself! Not trusted fully by her own people, Joni may have a difficult time trying to pull all of this together to save the world. But the reader won’t have to wait to find out – with this box set, you have it all at your fingertips and can read at your own pace. This is one of the many reasons I really LOVE box sets, and this author does it SO WELL!!

Expansive, Two-Series Box Set

This box set combines two (yes, two!) well-written, immersive supernatural fantasy series, "The Druid Legacy" and "The Formorian Wyrmriders." The author has populated these complex worlds with druids, bards, ovates, dragons, demigods, and other supernatural beings.

In "The Druid Legacy" series, the stories revolve around three teens, two boys and a girl, who discover their identities as a druid, a bard, and an ovate, a blend of Arthurian legend and Celtic myth (the Dagda, the Samhain veil, the Morrigan). The writing pulled me right into this mystical world that combines magic, adventure, and character growth in a well-drawn, richly crafted world. I love how these teens grew into their abilities with strength, even if it always wasn’t a straight road. However, their struggles and challenges made this a gripping page-turner.

"The Formorian Wyrmriders" has a distinctly different feel than the other series, centering on Joni Campbell, a protagonist who is set on figuring out why she has been cursed by a dragon, requiring her to relocate to her family’s ancestral home in a Fomorian city of merfolk. She has the curious ability to communicate with wyrms, fearsome and formidable colossal creatures larger than dragons. And she’ll need that ability as she faces supernatural creatures like vampires, zombies (including zombie sharks!), ghost pirates, merfolk, and voodoo witches. The nearly nonstop action pulses in these books, and I felt the conclusion was satisfying.

Combining both series in a box set is genius, allowing readers to enjoy a wide-ranging speculative fiction experience. I love the combination of elements, including Camelot mythology, the paranormal, and surprisingly, pop culture, creating unique and engaging writing that’s a pleasure to read as the outside world fades away. The fresh yet coherent perspectives on the paranormal/mythological world made this a box set I didn’t want to put down.

I received a free copy of this box set, but that did not affect my review.

This is WELL WORTH IT! Two fold, it actually has two FULL book series in one set.

Part 1: Gates of Eden: Druid Legacy

Mr. Monroe pens this masterfully. He has woven Arthurian/Camelot mythology with the supernatural troupe perfectly. As with all his books, he's also thrown in hysterical pop culture that gets me every time.

It follows the story of Elijah, a Druid and his two friends Emilie and Tyler, a bard and an ovate.

The character development and storyline progression through the set goes at decent rate. Plus, wait until you find out who Elijah fathers! I think my jaw dropped.

There are twists and turns at just the right spots. Action and suspense, drama, magic and humor. The perfect combo to call it a Theophilus Monroe boxset.

Part 2: Wyrmrider + Boxset Exclusive

I enjoyed this series even better but there's a reason. Josie a.k.a LA Sirene has "guest stared" in other series I've read and now I got to read her series!

Joni Campbell is a half human half mermaid. This set mainly takes place in Fomorian City and revolves around her trials and tribulations. The poor woman first has to learn how to control and use her new found powers. Then she becomes the very first wrymrider. How cool would that be? Then she ascends to the throne to become the Queen of the Sea and La Sirene with enemies trying to usurp her every chance they get.

The series has action, drama, laugh out loud pop culture references, merfolk, vampires, vooduisants and if those don't pique your interest, maybe these next two words will.....ZOMBIE SHARKS. I mean how hysterical!

Theophilus Monroe never disappoints me. I'm sure he won't disappoint you either. One click worthy without a doubt.

Absolutely brilliant!!!

Out of all the years that I have been reading (which is a lot...) It is rare to come across an author who's mind can work magic ( like his books ) and produce a story that will keep you wanting to keep reading, and enthrall you at the same time.
This set of books maybe aimed at the teen generation, but I can assure you whether you are a teen or ancient ( like me..) Reading this set is a breath of fresh air.
Forget your soaps and reality t.v. And escape into fantasy for a short while reading these books, leave your troubles behind and travel through time into the past to meet King Arthur and Merlin, both young and old! See Dragons, become a Dragon, fight enemies in the name of freedom and protect kingdoms in the the past and in the present against evil God's, become a ruler, a Queen, a demi-god, become a druid, mermaid. A caplator, a bokor, or a Loa who are Hiatian voodooist's, a witch, a vampire, and finally a satisfied reader.
All that is in this set of books.
I am enthused after read this set, that I have purchased the other 2 sets in this series. For the price of a coffee, try it, and you tell me I am wrong.
I read every morning when I awake. This set alone has taken me around 2-3 months to read.
Recommended.5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟.

Theophilus Monroe “Druids, Dragons, and Demigods” is a superb collection of two series of books. The first deals with Elijah Wadsworth as he slowly comes into his powers as a druid and the life altering changes it brings into his life. As his powers as a Druid grow, he is forced to evolved into earth’s protector against dark forces that seeks to dominate our world.
Dragons, and Demigods focus on Joni Campbell, southern belle who is forced to seek refuge with her aquatic s ancestors in the merkingdom of Fomoria, under the ocean, when she falls under a dragon's curse. There she not only learns of her ancestry but grows to earn the peoples’ trust as she rises through the ranks of their Wyrmrider protectors culminating in becoming a Loa, a god like being.
This collection will provide many hours of pleasurable reading that will not only mesmerize you but will keep you actively engaged as you diligently explore the creative mind of Theophilus Monroe. I highly recommend this book to all readers.

I loved these series not only for the fast-paced adventures and edge-of-the-seat drama or varied, interesting characters, but as much for the gems of wisdom, otherwise felt inside but so difficult to put into words, of which Monroe is a master craftsman.
So many things are a mystery in our Universe, and so many of them are mythical, but his boundless imagination puts them in a such a fresh and surprising perspective that it's mind-boggling. The author brings these stories to life in such a vivid and detailed way, that I can't help but wonder if he has secret knowledge about the truth of the paranormal world - the customs, strengths and weaknesses of witches, vampires, druids, gods...

There is so much to say it is impossible to put in a short review, so go ahead and pick up these book, you'll be glad you read them.

Difficult Read

I almost gave up on this series two or three times, but my curiosity and desire to finish kept me going. The books need a good editor....reigns for reins and vice versa were used several different times...both ways. I have also come to the conclusion that fantasy authors go out of their way to make characters names impossible to pronounce. I just decide how I think it should sound to me, and go from there.

All that said, I did enjoy the storyline of the series even if it was a little difficult to follow at times. The premise of the stories with the time travel involved is very clever. I won't be reading the next omnibus...or if I do, it won't be for awhile.

This collection contains two complete urban fantasy series in one package. Each series consists of four books, giving you a total of eight. The stories are well written and easy to read, but by no means boring. The settings are well developed with lots of details that provide new twists all the time. Similarly, the characters are well done with distinct personalities and often conflicting goals. Both series are full of action, intrigue and mystery. Overall, it was a lot of fun reading and comparing each series. I look forward to more from this author.

Highly recommended.

I loved The Druid Legacy set. Theophilus Monroe is a fantastic writer who draws the reader into a fantasy world like no other. The stories follow two teenage boys and a girl as they find out they are a Druid, a Bard, and an Ovate just like in the time of Arthur and The Knights of the Round Table.
The Wyrmrider Boxset follows Joni Campbell who is back in Fomorian territory. Read about her life in the Fomorian city, her ability to communicate with the wyrms, and how she became the first wyrmrider. This set has enough action for any reader and includes magic, zombies, fighting, and deaths, and ends on a happy note. I very highly recommend this bundle.

Another home run in bingeables

Fantastic! Exciting plot, rich characters and world-building, revelations, and humour abound. This is my second binge experience of The Shattered Gates Collection, and I'm jumping straight to the Omnibus of two brilliant characters from the collective series. In total accord with other reviews/5 star ratings, Mr. Monroe's background in theology reflects immensely well in his world-building, and the depths and varieties of characters reflect his ability as a bard. Buy any of these 4 combined omnibuses, and you'll be very impressed with the cost vs. enjoyment outcomes.

This box set is amazing! It’s two full series in one, so the amount of content you get is incredible. The world building is completely amazing, very well thought out and does not come across as info dumping. The characters are very compelling and pull you into the story.

You have absolutely no problem staying engaged and immersed into the world these books contain. They are amazing series’s, complex and interesting and they are just a joy to read. High fantasy with humorous pop culture references. I loved them so damn much.

Be ready for a lot of twists and turns. I did my best to follow the story and try too hard to identify the when part when beloved characters were introduced. Elijah and Joni both thought that they were meant to be together but they each had their role to play in the bigger scheme of things. Just when you think you have it figured out things change. Not going to lie but did get a little frustrated with these characters but like tough love they had to learn from their mistakes.. I really like this set of books.

I really liked the story line of both series, which are connected. My big complaint is the distraction of the constant reviews of previous books in the series. I do believe if you are going to write stand-alone books in a series and then publish them as a set you should edit out the reflections to make the book less confusing/boring. These books have been out long enough to have gotten rid of the typos and the corrections which needed to be addressed. I get tired of sending in corrections. Writers need to get better proof readers.

This author has a great imagination the books are a mixture of Myths, Magic and Fantasy. The downside is that they can be VERY confusing. They take you on a time travelling ride that switches from Mythical past to the present on a regular basis and the Heroine ends up being a mixture of all creatures you can imagine. So unless you are willing to read them very carefully and be prepared to backtrack on occasion because you think you have missed something you will find them difficult to follow. On the upside the stories are terrific and will take you on a weird and wonderful journey.

These are wonderful books. The storyline is original and has great world building. The characters are well developed and bring you into the story and keep you there. They are so interesting and lovable that you get ingrown them and don’t want to put the book down. Lots of drama and humor along the way to peak your internet and give some laughs. You will like if not love this series and not regret reading. I received this as an ARC and this is my honest opinion.

He is an extremely prolific author, but still creates good structure, characters that you understand, and uses the worlds available to him well ('our' world plus something).
This anthology actually covers two series: Druid Legacy and Fomorian Wyrmriders (not common to get 2 for 1).
Good intro to his work, if you are new to Theophilius Monroe. For those who have been reading (but not happened on these titles yet) - a great addition to his catalogue.

So if you loved Eragon, Percy Jackson, and Harry Potter, then this box set is definitely for you! Great world building with plenty of action. I would recommend for young adults and adults who are still youn at heart. It was a page turner, with a little bit of everything thrown in. Friends, love, loss, redemption, bad guys you love to hate, and of course plenty of unseen twists. Can't wait to see what comes next...

Don’t blink or you’ll miss something!

What a set! This is like the Sword in the Stone meets the Time Machine. The characters are in a never-ending infinity loop of time and space where past and present are so intertwined it made my head spin! Theophilus Monroe has an amazing imagination that can bring King Arthur’s court and New Orleans Voodoo queens together and make it all seem normal! Loved it! I received a free copy but my review is honest and voluntary.

I was so happy to see these 2 series together in one spot. I have the Wyrmriders books in my TBR pile, but I am glad I hadn't read them yet as they make much more sense following the Druid series.
I enjoyed all 8 books but my favorites were the first Wyrmriders and last Druidic ones. In this book I became more immersed in the world the author created than any of his other books. What a great ride it has been!.

Received as an ARC, I am leaving my honest review. The combination of these two book sets will keep you fully immersed in the mystery of Elijah Wadsworth and the discovery of who he really is. Witty and suspense filled with plenty of mystery and thrilling twists and turns will keep you turning the pages. Brilliantly written with the storyline in the style of this author will have you wanting to know more.

‘Druids, Dragons, and Demigods’ is a collection of two series, the Druid Legacy and the Wyrmrider both in the Gates of Eden world. The Druid Legacy kicks off the beginning of the Gates of Eden and the Wyrmrider is an underwater adventure with zombies, yes zombies. Both are exciting with wild adventures that are vividly captivating. A must read for fans of the Gates of Eden world.

An Excellent Book!

This is an excellent story. I particularly like the very cogent explanations of the many reasons why the Fae world is every bit as reasonable as the so called real world in which we supposedly live. It is also very nice to include the old often referred to as Pagan gods. They are very sensible when compared to modern deities! Read this book. You will enjoy and appreciate it!

Brilliant as always

I truly love the works of Theopholis. His writing is easy to read and always captures the imagination.
Jonis story is awesome. Very entertaining and a whole lot of adventure.

My only criticism with this set is in the editing not the story, incorrect words, extra words and left out words. Just meant having to reread some bits a second time to work out why it was awkward in that spot.

This bundle of fun stories comprises of two series that were a riot to read. Elijah and Joni are reluctant heroes in their own series. All these books made me laugh and groan my way through them with their hilarious stories and even worse characters that made me moan a few times. But they were all great at keeping me entertained with their mix of magic, surprises and fun characters.

This was a really interesting one to read, I love a good dragon/shifter type of story. And this was something new all together for me, I really liked this one, each story was really well written and each character was perfect together. I loved the end to each one. I can’t wait to read more.

Amazing World Builder.
I must claim a great starter set for this paranormal world of changes, mysteries and other action. It gives the foundation for the other series that branch from Wyrmrider and Druidess fantasy. All in one set.
