So, after I read the first book of the Fur-eign Exchange series, I wanted to give the author a second chance and the blurb of this book sounded interesting.

First, there is no mention of this book being a duet. It was only revealed in the author note at the end of the book. I hate that.

My information was, that this was planned as a series of interconnected standalone books. So, that's why I decided to read this second book. And the author reveals, that it was indeed planned as a standalone, but she changed it. That should have been mentioned at the start or in the blurb, that this will not be a standalone. Since I only read stories with a finished ending, this now sucks. A lot.

I hate breaks between book parts, because I forget details and I can't handle cliffhangers that well. Though, here it was okay, since the situation at the end was something, that was already announced/expected. So, it wasn't that surprising.

The second thing, I didn't like, has partly to do with it. During the read, I was upset about the story, because I didn't know it was a duet. So, most of the time and was sitting there and thought, when will something happen? It is mostly about her guilty feelings and her struggle to let the guys in (I mean Ryder and Hendrix with that, since Jareth is quickly accepted due to him knowing her). And her life with her art studio, her child's life (school, basketball etc.) and the guys trying to be there and reassure her as much as they can.

But nothing truly happens. It's monotone. The relationship building is extremely slow between her, Ryder and Hendrix. They have a great chemistry. That's something I can't deny in any way. But they barely kiss and smutty times? Nothing, except for her and Jareth one time. There was one situation where I thought, something will finally happen between her and one of the guys. But it was like fade to black. So, nope. Nothing.

And then I wasn't far from the end of the book, with me really thinking, so, no there will be a fast showdown or something. But then came the realization that the story isn't finished and reading the author's note.

I'm not happy with that. I mean, it is probably good that this wasn't a rushed finish and afterwards it makes me feel better now, that the story is not completely broken. But it wouldn't have come to that, with me thinking badly of the story, if the author had mentioned from the start, that this is an unfinished story.

And not only that, but the author didn't seem to have learned from her first book. There is still no world building. No real explanation for anything. And we barely do know anything about the guys as well. Only superficial again. It was disappointing.

At least, the proofreading and editing was far better than in the first book. So, I only saw a few misspellings. But otherwise I didn't notice it negatively.

Unfortunately, I can't give a higher ranking. It could have been so much more, but it isn't. I don't have high hopes for the next book. But I will have to read it, since I want to know the ending. But after that? I don't see a chance for me reading other books by the author.

There’s a cliffhanger and another book 🤦‍♀️

Ends on a cliffhanger and could have been a stand-alone. The author spent so much time on inner dialogue and conversations about the same things over and over. She doesn’t do enough to world build and help us to understand why things are the way they are, why they’re different where our FMC currently resides or how they get away with being so different in this town if the rule of law for designations is so pervasive she’s been running all this time.

The Ryder/Jareth storyline just seems like it came from left field for no other reason than to push another book and for all the talk of chemistry where was it. Make me feel something about the injustices and the relationships. Stop telling me about problems and the chemistry/heat and make me believe it. Make me want to grab my pitchfork and call a few friends to meet that council. Make me reach for my glass of cold water because man I think one or more of these men are my new book boyfriends and is it just me or it’s hot in here. Also, for the love of everything could you please write the child as an actual K-5 child. Nearly every time Lex spoke I was in danger of rolling my eyes because come on. Though I didn’t like this as much as I hoped, this book may be a great read for others so don’t let my review stop you.

Completed this book and man, I should have DNF'd it.
The book was written in a "hand-holding" manner. Example: the FMC and MMC's would say something akin to "what should we do for dinner and after dinner?" We would then have to read 3-5 pages of the group discussing exactly that. Like, that could have been summarized and no one would have felt like a lack of story was missing.
In addition to the monotonous daily task list we're subjected to, there is WAY too much dialogue (like 70% of the book is dialogue). We just skip from scene to scene with no background or helpful imagery to help build the world.
The FMC opened an art studio. Have no idea what it looks like or where the FMC stores anything because the layout wasn't explained well.
The one MMC is a teacher, but who knows what the other one does. I think he works at the rec center all day? Who knows?!
The dialogue of the child in the story was not believable at all.
So many missed opportunities to tell a well thought out and a deep story about "sticking to ones destiny."

An Omegaverse Book Not Focused On the Omega

I love a good underdog story. And I love this book is focused on a beta and not omegas. They have their time and place in my reading, but I love a good story about a strong beta getting everything she deserves! Now let me tell you about HER Beta! Swoon! 😍 he’s a business man, a lover of children and avid reader! Just dreamy. The alpha doesn’t seem half bad, he too loves kids and has a sweet comical side. I’m excited to see how Jareth blossoms now he’s free to be with Moira! And Lexie takes everyone’s heart! Bout to jump into the next book so I can get into the pending drama! Must read especially if you’re a lover of the single mom trope, rejected mates and OV!

Moira and her daughter have been on the move since she was rejected by her pack because they wanted an omega. When she decides to settle in a town so Moira can open an arts business, she is hoping to just make a good life for her daughter. This is definitely a slow burn, and it does have a bit of a cliffy, but I enjoyed seeing the guys get to know her. This isn’t an already formed RH. While 2 of the guys know each other, they were just friends/acquaintances. At times, it did feel a little slow, but I didn’t put it down and finished the story in one night. I will be watching for book 2.

this didnt need to be a cliffhanger, just write 100 more pages and job done 😂
if i knew, i wouldnt have read it but oh well, thats on me for trusting fb 💀

other than that, the plot was really good, buuut she’s a bit annoying with the whole “omega-alpha” dynamics… i get your old pack fvkd up and you have a resentment towards omegas but u know him, loved him since school… wym u dont want him to be with the alpha… maybe in this universe false knots r enough 🤣

love betas getting some action tho, wouldve looooved the omega to be more omega 😀

jumbled mess

I was so excited at the description, but so disappointed when there is a super abrupt, unexpected, cliffhanger ending in a place that makes minimal sense at all. It’s also extremely weird that the main character is building this super slow relationship with an alpha and another beta, but when Jareth shows up slow goes out the window…but only for the two of them? This book is in desperate need of an editor, a professional one. So much wasted potential.

Not me not realizing this is a two part story 🙊

Hmm. Ok I’ve read the part two of this story & im disappointed mainly bc it feels lazy. It feels like all the drama w the exes that was built up in book 1 & then in book 2 only for the exes to die is lazy writing to me.

On the other hand, this story could have been made into one book. The second book was filled w unnecessary details that did not add but eventually subtracted from the momentum of book 1 and how unfortunate is that

Also, please stop making women propose to men in books. I beg of you. It’s sooooo unromantic. So cringy. So 🤢

It was okay

This book should not have a part 2 the author is just dragging this mess out lol. The characters are perfect and we see people from the first book.
