A short, but interesting survey of Hiroshima's Atom-bomb injured survivors 20 years after the "Enola Gay" completed her mission. Called "pika" by the Japanese, the bomb's aftermath on buildings and infrastructure were well documented. I personally met a member of the USAAF survey team who were the first Americans to enter Hiroshima after the surrender. "We did good," he answered after I asked him about the attack.
The immediate human toll was never fully and accurately recorded (for obvious reasons) but 20 years on Hiroshima was a hodge-podge of opinion, rebuilding, hate, and forgiveness.
Steinberg did an excellent job of focusing specifically on the "habik'sha" (the bomb survivors) and the city as it was in 1965, with little judgement or discussion of the reasons behind the attack.
