This was such a fun book to read! It really teaches you that you don't actually have to be your own worst enemy, but that you should stay true to yourself and things will eventually work out in the end. I reccomend it to anyone

I like this book so far because she is a big mouth and that kind of reminds me of myself since I like talking. I am trying to be normal lie her to but I stopped since I thought it was dumb.

Childhood-reread

I really liked the message that was behind this book. And I enjoyed Eve's vents nad her true self.

Some parts felt dated (published in 1999), namely people looking down on anyone who's mother worked rather than staying home.....or very clearly defined gender roles that weren't crossed (men do DIY projects, women clean and cook). But since our society keeps trying to make us go back to those dumb roles, I guess maybe this is timely.

Either way, I really liked this and I see why this was something I enjoyed as a kid. And why I started my own vents in a notebook.

I read this book when I was around maybe thirteen and I thought it was hilarious 😂. Just a heads up there was some swearing in it but I don't remember it being a ton maybe two or three times and there may have been a few minor dialogue items that were a little offensive again it's been awhile since I read it. But I know it wasn't really horrible because I've never been one to read "dirty books".

This is a charming story that has the message "be yourself." But it also shows how much pressure there is to be perfect, to conform, to fit the image of others.
Eve is starting a new school in the middle of the year. Her dad tells her to turn over a new leaf, and she tries.

Eve Belkins' family had to move into a new town, because of her parents' jobs. While her mom travels around the country, she is stuck at home with her chaotic dad and her annoying older brother. Eve is one of the sassiest persons you could possibly meet. She just says what's on her mind, that's probably one of the reason why she had no friends at her old school. But now she wants to change. A new leaf. A brand new start. That's her chance to completely change herself and become an ordinary teenage girls.

I personally really liked this book, because it talks about so many problems a teenage girl has. It also talks about how you should just stay yourself and that nobody but you has the right to judge you.
