Nella mia città c'è un autobus trasformato in "biblioteca" in cui è possibile portare libri e scambiarli. Questo libro l'avevo preso così, mesi e mesi fa, attirata dalla trama e soprattutto dal riferimento ai maya. Purtroppo, però, non era ciò che mi aspettavo. La storia non è avventurosa come sembra dalle premesse, bensì è un percorso fisico che in realtà è una metafora di quello spirituale compiuto dal protagonista. Gli aspetti spirituali trattati sono molto belli, i messaggi che vogliono trasmettere lo sono anche, ma a livello narratologico non sono per nulla ben gestiti.
Si affrontano concetti difficili e particolari e per farli arrivare bene al lettore vanno diluiti nella narrazione e inseriti al fianco di eventi. Qui, invece, abbiamo pagine e pagine di... Gente che parla. Ma non dialoghi, monologhi. I mentori del protagonista parlano e parlano, e questa cosa non funziona.
Lo stile di scrittura in sé è nelle mie corde, ma non questi passaggi qui.

Not as good as 'The Celestine Prophecy' (clunky in places and issues with plausibility within the story), but kinda freaky how much has come true since it was written. Also, how much could possibly be coming true NOW. Glad to have read it and I thank Beth for finding it and giving it to me a couple of years ago. I finally read it - thank you! :D
