“It cannot be that anybody, anywhere is not my very own. I am with you at all times.”Clothed in spotless white… the image of simplicity and gentleness, Anandamayi Ma was one of the most influential spiritual teachers of our time. Her devotees ranged from prime ministers to renowned saints to humble villagers.Although virtually uneducated, Ma spoke with the authority of direct experience and mesmerised all with her ethereal beauty, sweetness and grace. A free spirit, she wandered all over the country showering her love and tender care on everyone. Across India, several ashrams, established and dedicated in her name, today serve as sanctuaries for spiritual seekers.Wherever she went, miracles followed in her wake. From suddenly appearing at the bedside of a dying woman… to breathing life into an ant crushed thoughtlessly underfoot, everything was manifested effortlessly and graciously through Ma. Her samadhi at Kankhal near Haridwar, radiates peace and showers blessings on devotees who come to pay their respects from all over the world. This short biography, written by a "dikshit" – a direct disciple of Ma, seeks to acquaint you with the sacred persona, inspired wisdom and the divine life of Anandamayi Ma. Its highlight is a chapter on new incidents that have come to light and never before been published in any biography of Ma.
Although the book wasn't written in a superb way it does give us a good glimpse into Ma's life. Throughout her life it seems many devotee's surrounded her. I can't seem to ever wrap my head around the almost narcissistic climax of their relationship with her. (I often feel this way of guru's in general). But I can say these people who found solace in her according to this book were honest and forthcoming. It seems to them Ma really was the divinity of God itself, Kali the Goddess of all.
Book of introduction to the self as beloved mother
Accidentally I came across a movie uploaded in you tube about MAA earlier read about her in "Auto biography of a yogi". After reading this book mother seems to be my very own. Words of wisdom no spiritual jargon only wisdom / freedom in lay man's language. I love this book because it introduced MAA to my conscious mind...She is indeed The Supreme Godes . Waiting for her revelation in this life.
Even though the author is obviously biased, that biasness comes sincerely. Anyone who is searching for inspiration in this darkening world can't help but be moved by this telling of Ma's life. It's sad that all of us can't experience a soul such as Ma's in person, too. But, I guess we'll have to be content just reading about souls such as Ma's.
A wonderfully written and spiritually uplifting brief life story of one of India’s greatest saints and GOD incarnate of modern times. Despite being born in India, I was unaware of the details of her life except for a brief mention of her in the Autobiography of a Yogi . Thank you Swami Mangalanda!!
A very beautiful book to learn more about Ma's life. I recommend this book to all those who wish to have a better understanding of the life of Anandamayi Ma and her teachings. The author does a good job of showing how compassionate and peaceful Ma was.
Those wanting to know more of Anandamayi Ma, and wishing to deepen and inspire their faith in the spiritual path homeward, will benefit greatly from reading this book. It is both a comfort and joy.
It's a fascinating story of her life and how she came to live in the state of love with God. I wouldn't want to be her though. I appreciate being able bodied to care for myself and others while I'm here. 🙏🏼
This was my first book /introduction to Anandamayi ma. And this book does what the author hopes, Maa's love flowed out from within as I went through the pages.
Such a sweet and simple book on Anandamayi Ma. It is so great to read. I felt a glimpse of Ma's life and the miraculous journey in this book. Would read more
