I read this book* due to an Amazon review stating that their RD team regards this as the "yellow bible" for eating disorders (ED). I would have to agree. This book provides step-by-step guidance for dietitians working with patients and families in ED. The Rule of Threes for meal planning is quite genius.
I would love to see a 3rd edition (or hear a recommendation for another book that covers this same territory). We've evolved in the conversation regarding body weight inclusivity since this was written so I found some eating disorder workshops to offer a broader perspective in this particular regard. Still, this book gets beyond the general philosophies into the nuts and bolts of the nutrition counseling sessions for particular EDs - this builds confidence and adds value to a clinician newer to this field. Well worth the $50 price tag.
I would recommend this book along with Gaudiani's Sick Enough book as foundational texts for any dietitian wanting to deepen their ED understanding. *This review is for the 2nd edition, Jan 2013 version but Goodreads only has this one edition.
