I really enjoyed reading Strands of Fate, by author, Linda Kozar. The book starts off in Scotland, the home country of main character, Shannon McClain and her best friend, Colleen. Shannon is struggling to get by after the death of her husband. She learns that she's inherited an estate from her grandmother which she's never met. She must travel to Oregon to receive the inheritance. When frightening messages begin to arrive, Shannon realizes someone doesn't want her to get what she deserves. Kozar is great at characterization. And her amazing descriptions of the Oregon countryside will make the reader hunger to visit the area.

I am completely blown away by how much I am enjoying all things #anniesfiction. From the cute and cozy to the thrill and cozy. This one was no different.

Shannon receives a mysterious letter regarding an aunt she never knew she had. Soon after reading this letter frightening events start to occur. Join Shannon as she travels to Apple Grove, OR and attempts to unravel the many mysterious happenings while at the same time trying to stay out from 6ft under.

This is part of the Creative Woman Mysteries series from Annie's Attic. Shannon, a widowed Scottish woman, learns that she's the heir of an American grandmother she never knew she had. She has to attend the reading of the will in Oregon to claim her grandmother's home and crafts business, but someone seems to be trying to prevent her from receiving her inheritance.

It's a pleasant, fast read, and I would like to read more in the series. It's a little too simplistic, though - some aspects just come together too easily - but maybe that's to keep the book from becoming too long and convoluted. In terms of crafting, there's some beading and silversmithing content, and lighter mentions of knitting, crochet, quilting and other crafts.

A friend (CC) recently sent me books from a different Annie's Fiction series (Secrets of the Castleton Manor Library). I enjoyed those and went to Half Price Books to see if they had any later ones in the series. They didn't but they did have a number of books from this series--Creative Woman Mysteries. It sounded interesting so I bought what they had.

This is book 1 in the series. It starts in Scotland where widow Shannon McClain gets a letter informing her she is to inherit her maternal grandmother's house and business, but only if she goes to Apple Grove, OR. If she fails to show up there, her inheritance will go to other family members. Shannon and her friend Colleen make plans to travel to Oregon.

Shannon knows very little about her mother because her mother left the family when Shannon was young and her father rarely talked about her mother.

Shannon receives threatening messages and odd things happen. But good things happen too. Shannon meets relatives and friends of her grandmother. Her grandmother's craft business seems a perfect fit for Shannon (less the abrasive store manager).

I didn't guess who was behind the threats. That's my norm, so your experience may vary. I do plan to read other books in this series.

This was an enjoyable read. I had read the second and third books of the series first, and found this beginning book starting the series better than the others. Needed a cozy, crafty mystery as a break before starting my next literary fiction book. And to keep up with my reading schedule. Being able to get through a book quickly keeps me motivated to keep at it!

Awful. It was so good until the last 30% or so. But then all of a sudden her mother who left her 40 years ago shows up. The mother is immediately forgiven. And then the ending was ridiculous.
What a waste of time

This was a great cozy mystery even though Shannon annoyed me at first with how judgemental she was. It did keep me guessing and I guessed wrong.

This is a delightful cozy mystery!

The development of the main character Shannon McClain is incredible. I was able to connect with her from the very beginning. She is surrounded by numerous friends by the end of the book even though she has picked up and moved from Scotland to Oregon fairly early in the story. We are introduced to each one and slowly learn more about them and their lives. I think that this will continue throughout the series.

The mystery is a fairly light one. No one has been murdered. No one has been kidnapped. There are simply questions from the past and a trail of clues that was left intentionally to find a hidden piece of jewelry. It was very entertaining to follow Shannon and her friends as they worked to follow the trail and beat the bad guy to the prize.

The small town of Apple Grove is a charming setting for these books. I’m really looking forward to seeing where the series goes since each book is written by a different author.

A great story to kick off a new mystery series. Set in Apple Grove Oregon, Shannon comes from Scotland to find out about an inheritance from a grandmother she never knew about. She hopes to learn about her mother who she has not seen since she was 4. Before she leaves Scotland, she is warned not to go to Apple Grove.
The mystery of who doesn't want her there and who can she trust is off!

This book is just what a cozy mystery should be it keeps you guessing, has memorable characters, a great setting, and leave you wanting more. I knocked off one star because it starts off kind of slow. Definitely worth reading!

I've been reading this new series about the same characters but each book is written by a different author. It's a typical murder mystery and can get a little cheesy and predictable but a quick read and enjoyable.

Shannon travels from Scotland to the United States to learn out what she has inherited from her grandmother. It will take all of Shannon’s artistic talent and investigative skills to tell a story of missing jewelry and find peace.
