Rate this book
People in the horse world know all too well that performance horses, like human athletes, are trained, fed and cared for so they can go faster, jump higher and run longer. Daily training and competing can result in injuries, aches and pains, which if treated by drugs alone may only mask the problem and not remedy it. This is why equine massage therapist Jean-Pierre Hourdebaigt created a program of techniques that will enable owners and riders, trainers and grooms to: Hourdebaigt provides step-by-step instruction and more than 150 photographs and diagrams so that everyone?including nonprofessionals?can learn to massage their horse. Equine Massage may be the key to unlocking the door to a horse's future, one that promises good health and improved performance.

This is an excellent resource book for equine anatomy and physiology. We used it for its hydrotherapy methods, but it includes:

Basic massage and stretching
Hydrotherapy

This is a fantastic guide to not only massage but everything to do with your horse's muscular structure. It covers massage techniques, different types of massage, muscle structure, kinesiology, saddle fitting, deformities and their impact, injuries and treatments, and even breed/discipline impacts on musculature. It's the most comprehensive and easy to understand book on massage that I have ever read. I have to have this one in my collection! Five out of five stars!

A very in depth guide on horse massage that covers all areas and will leave you with extensive knowledge on the subject. Having started it a few years back, and now completing it after having become an equine professional myself, I can appreciate even more the wealth of information in this book.
