I wish I could finish this. It sounds like a great story however Abigail the witch is a complete Bitch. I hate her so much that I can't continue.

Ridge saves her from literally being burned at the stake and they then go have drinks, get drunk and end up getting married in vegas. Ridge changes into his werewolf form right at the end of sex and it startles her into blasting him with electrical magic, almost searing his privates.

Now after 13 years he finds her to sign divorce papers. She has a child who has just been kidnapped. HIS child that he knows nothing about. He can't have kids by the way because of her attack. She shows NO remorse about that and instead manipulates him into helping her retrieve his (unknown to him) son. Also, he's kind of scared of her magic because of what she did and she's know to be sort of unstable. I couldn't get into him being nervous of her instability.

She has no redeeming qualities and he is so sweet. I don't want to read on and hear about how they get together because I want to frollic in my hatred for her.

Funny, sexy and an all-around good read.

I have to admit that I’m rather partial to Werewolves. I’ve hardly ever found a were shifter I didn’t like. This goes for Ridge Addison our hottie Alpha Werewolf, who was sensitive but also all man. Then there is Abigail Rowan, bad ass witch extraordinaire. I very much liked Abigail and I could relate to her bad taste in men. Come to think of it, most gals nowadays can pretty much relate.

Our story begins ten years ago when Ridge and Abigail get drunk, get married and get in bed. I do believe that Carrie Underwood wrote a song that you can play along with the book. Yeah, it’s that Las Vegas scenario that you wish had never happened but you weren’t so lucky. The whole concept is hilarious to me, and honestly I wonder how often it does happen. I especially liked Abigail’s trigger happy zappy finger, one that had Ridge’s were cringing in fear.

I pretty much guessed who the villain was but that’s typical of most books, you have to have a villain and they’re not that hard to figure out. The action was pretty good and I loved how they can shift into a wolf and into a traditional Were. Abigail’s witch skills weren’t too shabby, though I wish she had been a little more bad to the bone. You’re not left wanting in the hanky panky parts, they were rather energetic, and in a good way.

I hope that Michele Hauf writes more of this paranormal world. It was very interesting and the characters equally interesting.

Recommendation : Those who are looking for a great Paranormal Romance book to read this summer. It has plenty of action, plot twists and just enough steam.

When I read the synopsis it sounded like the perfect summer beach read. Light fluffy, happy ending sort of read. Man was I off the mark, but in a good way.

This book was intense. It grabs you and sends your emotions through a grinder while trying to keep up on the adventure. This book was not light or fluffy. It had pull, substance and I did not see the road signs ahead.

This book is a definite read this summer. Werewolves, Vampires and Witches Oh My! It has everything a paranormal romance reader could ask for.

I have not read any of her other books but never once felt lost. I was able to keep up with who was who. It also made me want to read more about certain characters. Yup, this book has made me a Michele Hauf fan.

We get a sneak peek at Ridge in the very beginning. This scene is what mislead me. It was light and fluffy. He is working the land, clearing trees with a chain saw and horses. He wants to keep his business nature friendly if you will.

We find out he is the new pack leader in town and must now take a wife and produce cuddly little weres to help expand the pack, which is dwindling. I mean to say there are 4 members total. So for him and his pack it’s a big deal. But he can’t have kids due to an incident 13 years ago.

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas has applied till now. His wife, his little witch cast a infertility spell and so he must get that removed and divorce her.

Well I thought I saw the signs ahead. Go find witch. Argue, take her back, and fall in love. Then everything turns out peachy. I was wrong.

The scene shifts to Abby getting ready to pick her son up at the airport. I can work with this, so add a son to my earlier equation. But then she gets the call. Someone has kidnapped her son and is holding him for ransom. She now has to hunt down this vampire in to exchange for her son.

About this time Ridge shows up and harsh words are spoken. However, Abby does eventually share her problem and wrangles Ridge into helping.

The journey begins.

Adored :

* I loved Ridge. I pictured him as a modern-day knight in shining armour. He was honorable through out and was willing to help all those in need. I was so happy that he was able to get his HEA!

Richard Addison (Ridge)
description

“Let no man challenge him without due strength and strong morals.”

* Abby was a feisty witch. I enjoyed watching the walls that she had built up around her heart and life crumble. She is one tough cookie but learned that sometimes you have to let other people in, those who love you, help you with problems. You don’t have to do everything alone. In some ways she reminded me of Kate Daniels.

Abigail Addison (Abby)
descriptiondescription

* Ryan, Abby’s son, was like every other teenage boy I have met. He was growing out of his awkward phase and had an interest in anything that spelled trouble. I can only hope that he gets a story in the future.

* I really enjoyed Severo and will be looking for his story. Vampire married to a Werewolf, yup sounds like a fun ride to me.

* The Blood sport

“…blood sport – a wicked game that pitted blood-starved vampires against one another to the death – …”

This reminded me of UK’s TV show Being Human. If you have seen the show than you remember when the vampires would pit the weres against humans etc.
description

Not A Fan Of :

* Some things were predictable in the book. However, Michele did go to great lengths to try to confuse you and therefore question whether or not your guess was right.

* I thought the whole lumberjack thing was a little chessy. I know it is probably just me, but really I just wanted to laugh, okay I did laugh. Not good.

* The opening scene could have been deleted. I could have been happy starting the book with Abby getting ready to pick up Ryan. I think that why Ridge was there and who he was to her were explained well without the odd winter scene at the beginning. As I said before I just laughed through it.

Favorite Quotes:

“Thank God for that. I mean, that it was your worst memory. I’d hate it to be me that was your worst.” Because memories never went away, and their haunting ability could fell a grown man to his knees.

“Men really were touchy about damage to their manhood.”

“What’s important is not what we did then, but what we do now, and the intention with which we do it.”

Soundtrack Bonus :

Simple Man by Shinedown

Jake Coco & Corey Gray - We Found Love by Rihanna

Our Review [by Michelle L. Olson – LITERAL ADDICTION’s Pack Alpha]:

O.K yeah, it’s no secret that I love Michele Hauf and gush about pretty much everything she’s written, but this book really does deserve it. While not my personal favorite of Michele’s thus far, it was an engaging and thoroughly enjoyable read.

Our hero, Ridge Addison, is like the Brawny papertowel guy (including the softer side) with Jason Statham’s sexy action hero streak. If that isn’t enough to get you to love him right there, then throw in some real to life insecurities, some hardships, and the fact that he’s an Alpha willing to fight for what’s his, and you have a sigh-worthy leading male that you’ll follow just about anywhere.

Our heroine, Abigail, is a little hard to love at first admittedly. To sum it up, Ridge calls her the “Baddest Witch in the Midwest” and she sort of lives up to that name. She has some incredible layers herself, however, and once each of those is peeled away throughout the story and you get to see what makes her tick you can’t help but start to love her. I loved her immediately because she’s a tough leading lady, and that’s one thing that I search for in my Paranormal Romance. No wimpy heroines for this reader! Abigail is that in spades, but she also has her reasons for her walls…

Together, they are a dynamic duo that tug at your emotions because you’re just not sure they’re right for one another. They each have their own lives – hopes and dreams, and it’s not a forgone conclusion that being together will bring them the HEA that you want them both to have. The way Michele spins her tale however has you cheering for them despite (or in spite of!?) the potential hurdles, and left me cheering at the final outcome.

The Werewolf’s Wife was another incredible release from Michele Hauf, and I would recommend it to ALL Michele Hauf fans, Paranormal Romance readers, fans of witches and werewolves, and anyone who likes their romance with some conflict (no love triangles or anything of that sort, just real life (and some preternatural) hurdles to overcome.

LITERAL ADDICTION gives The Werewolf’s Wife 4 Skulls and cannot wait for whatever Michele has in store for us next!!

I love Michele Hauf’s voice. If her name’s on a book, I’ll read it. And I’ve never been disappointed—until now.

The Werewolf’s Wife has a great premise. Who wouldn’t want read about a yummy shifter wolf saving a damsel in distress, commiserating over drinks, getting hitched in Vegas and having a crazy-wild night of passion? Okay, so that’s only the start for the rest of the book, but it grabs your attention, right?

Ridge Addison becomes pack leader. In order to set a good example and help his pack grow, he needs to marry and have children—which means he needs to get a divorce from his who-knows-where-she-is-or-what-she’s- doing witch of a wife. No, seriously. Abigail Rowan’s a real witch with powers and everything.

Here’s where the plot derailed for me. Ridge wants to have a family desperately. Of course Abigail has a son, and of course Ryan might be Ridge’s child (or the deadly abusive boyfriend Ridge rescued her from). A little predictable, but I rolled with that.

When Ridge finally tracks Abigail down to ask for a divorce, all kind of wrong hits the page. Abigail has received a call that her son has been kidnapped. She’s scared, angry, hurt. Then Ridge knocks on her door.

She basically tells him this isn’t a good time so shove off. Ridge says he has divorce papers, but what if he wants to keep her. He’s working an angle just to get inside the house. Lousy angle. These two people had a one-night stand and haven’t seen each other in 13 years. Why would they want anything to do with the other?

I digress. Abigail lets him in. She’s stressed. Then she notices how good he looks. Really? Her son’s kidnapping just occurred. Why wouldn’t she just sign the divorce papers, get him out of her hair, search for her son and fry the bastards that took him? That’s what a badass witch would do, right?

Nope. Abigail’s obsessive, controlling and plain mean. I didn’t like her character at all—which is sad because I really liked Ridge’s character. I had to forgive him for being such a knob toward Abigail, but the rest of his qualities made him a nice, caring, working-on-being-an-alpha male.

Will I read more of Michele Hauf’s books? You bet. Hopefully the characters will be more engaging as a whole and the plot will not be so predictable.

As the new head of his werewolf pack, Ridge realizes that it's time for him to find a mate and start a family. But before he can do that, he needs to get a divorce from the woman he married in Vegas during a one-night stand 13 years ago. As hot as their drunken roll in the hay was, it ended very badly when he started to shift in bed --and the fiery witch responded with a powerful zap to his gut. He hasn't seen her since.

Just as Ridge shows up on Abigail's doorstep, her son is kidnapped. The mysterious abductor demands that she track down a particular vampire to trade for the boy's life. Ridge agrees to help her get her son back. And as they work together, all the old sparks start flying again.

My biggest complaint about this book is that it's predictable. Basic math skills tip off the possibility of the child's paternity from the get-go. We know that Ridge is starved for family and what better payoff could there be, other than one that's ready made? The identity of the kidnapper is pretty transparent as well.

My other beef? The very idea that Abigail could reignite this relationship while her son's in mortal danger. Sure, I can see her leaning on this stalwart man and reaching out for his goodness and strength. But I just don't buy any mom putting her terror on hold to get laid. Nope. Her son has been kidnapped; his life is in jeopardy and she's going down on wolfman. And then some.

The book is part of Michele Hauf's Beautiful Creatures world and references events and characters in the Wicked Games series. You don't have to read those books to understand what's going on, but as a new reader, I could definitely feel I had missed something, with the large amount of backstory we're filled in on. Also, as someone unfamiliar with the world-building, I got a little confused about what Ridge's were-form was. It was explained, but not until very far in the book, that it's part-man, part-beast. And then I got a little squicked out thinking about him having sex that way.

The book was ok reading in parts. I liked Ridge and I wanted him to get his HEA. But overall, it wasn't great. A little less than 3 stars.

ARC recieved from Harlequin on NetGalley

2.5 stars This was so-so. I liked the idea behind it, but something about the execution just didn't work for me.

1) It was kind of hard to figure out the relationships between the races. The council made blood sport illegal, but a witch is still allowed to consume a vampire heart every century to stay immortal?

2) It seemed like several terms were changed from your typical werewolf book, just for the sake of seeming different, but all it did was throw me off and draw attention to it. Like instead of claws they have talons and instead of alpha's they have p-something.

3) They tried to give us some background on Ridge but I just didn't feel it. He just sort of threw it out there too suddenly how shitty his childhood was, but it felt forced.

4) Abigail is supposedly this big bad witch... what does that even mean?

5) A lot of Abigail and Ridge's dialogue felt contrived and was just worded in ways that real people don't talk. She kept contradicting herself about being too obsessive a lover but now she pushes people away, again, I just didn't feel it. And Ridge's random insecurities were, well, random... and unattractive at times.

6) After all the build up, the conclusion felt forced and hit a pet peeve of mine.

Things picked up for me once Ryan showed up on the scene, I liked the way he was portrayed. It was a light and easy read, bu unfortunately, I just didn't feel anything with the suspese, the love story, or the characters in general.

Werewolf stories are my favorite type of paranormal book. I was excited to receive this book through the Goodreads' First Reads program and explore a new author. The characters were deftly drawn and I found myself empathizing with both Ridge and Abby. The problem? There was a major flaw in the plot and it distracted me for over half of the novel and kept me from being able to lose myself in the story like I prefer to.

This book is part of a series, but I don't think you have to read the others before this book. I didn't and I don't feel as if I missed anything by not reading the series in order. This book is about Ridge Addison, the new alpha wolf of a very small pack, and Abigail, a witch. They have one passion filled night and end up married, but end up going their separate ways. Thirteen years later Ridge finds Abigail to get a divorce. This is where I started losing interest. Abigail is suppose to be some bad-ass witch but we never see it. She has Ridge fight her battles for her. And Ridge wasn't much better. He's an alpha but acts as a Beta. I just didn't see these two as a couple. One thing that bothered me was at one point Abigail says something (or thinks) that Ridge has to prove himself if he wants a divorce. Why prove himself? One other thing was that its against the rules to use vampires for bloodsport, but its okay for witches to eat a live beating vampire heart. I don't get the difference.

I found it extremely flat and boring with a cardboard main couple. (Cardboard and completely untrue to the way they are written off.)

I stopped reading almost at the end, but really I couldn't care less to know if they had a future, whose son was Ryan etc. etc.. What a waste of my time.

Sandra has a more detailed explanation of this book's flaws: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

This is the second book of this author I read. I doubt I'll be reading a third.

Not great characterization. Both ML and FL did things, said stuff, or acted in ways that felt completely random or just didn't fit with their personalities. There was no spark between them, and that made it hard for their romance and HEA to be believable. Worldbuilding was messy. Plot was dragged out unnecessarily. Ending was both cheesy and cringey af.

Tbh, this work didn't feel like it was written by someone who's a fan of werewolf/shifter romance. Plot was contrived and dialogue was unnatural, but the characterization was really the worst. FL enjoyed being called and known as a "bad witch" but by god's was she so basic if she wasn't the FL, I wouldn't be able to separate her from any other characters. Even the minor characters who appeared for only a few pages could outshine her. She also didn't seem like someone who had been "alive" since the middle ages.

This didn't quite reach the giddy heights of Her Vampire Husband for me, but I still absolutely loved it. Fun and charming, with a hero and heroine who really matched each other on every level. I liked the plot, I liked the setting, I liked the romance... And this may be an unpopular opinion, but I absolutely LOVED Abigail. She wasn't a nice person, no, but she was strong and smart and made me laugh a good few times.

Really, really good. I have absolutely no idea how to continue with the rest of the series, there are apparently 38 books and I am very confused, but based on this I absolutely love the world and would recommend.

Okay read

Okay read. Found the witch to be a tad annoying and messing things up. That said it’s well written and follows the other stories in the series.

Thirteen years ago in Las Vegas Ridge Addison saved a witch from burning at the stake. That sounds like it means this book is a historical but it’s a contemporary paranormal. The witch is being burned by her lover – for reasons unknown at the time – and Ridge drives in and kicks some butt. Ridge and the saved witch, Abigail, then proceed to get rip roaring drunk, laugh their asses off and in a majorly stupid drunken move decide to get married…by Elvis. The couple consummate the marriage but things go a bit haywire and the two end up parting ways.

Now Ridge is the Principle (or Alpha) of his pack and family is a major issue. Ridge doesn’t have one and he needs one so he needs to find Abigail to get a divorce. When he finds her with divorce papers in hand he is met by a woman in a panic who wants nothing to do with him. He manages to talk his way into the house but finds that Abigail is beside herself because she just found out that her son has been kidnapped. She has 48 hours to find a specific vampire and bring him to the meeting place in order to get her son back.

Ridge is an honorable man and decides to help Abigail find the vamp to get her son back. While the couple is on their trek they realize that they not only have a great attraction for each other but that they just might love each other.

The story, I felt, was more a suspense story than a romance although the romance did play heavily in it. The finding of the vampire and all that entailed, the meeting with the kidnappers and then more suspense after that, Ridge finding out that the child may be his – there was a lot going on.

I’m not quite sure how to explain how I felt about the romance. I think that the romance itself was ok so I think maybe it was the characters that I just didn’t particularly care for. Ridge was a great guy – strong, honorable – just wonderful…but I didn’t feel like he had any self confidence. He had been pushed around and abused in many different ways in his life and it obviously affected his adult self but for all his accomplishments of getting himself to the alpha position I felt that he still didn’t think very highly of himself.

Abigail was a very old witch. She’d lived about 400 years or more and had seen a lot of stuff. She had also been an extremely bad witch from what we’re told but had tried to be good since her son was born. She was trying to turn over a new leaf but it was hard for her. I truly never got a sense of who Abigail was except a loving mother – which was good, but just didn’t go far as far as the romance was concerned. She was very stubborn and argumentative but that worked for the story line.

I really liked the premise of the story but in the end the characters themselves really didn’t capture me. I figured out who had kidnapped the son almost immediately and was shocked that the h/h were in the dark – they seemed like much smarter people than that.

The Werewolf's Wife (Wicked Games #4)
Author: Michele Hauf
Narrator: Sasha Dunbrook
Length: 286 pages, File Size: 454KB, 7hrs 6min.
Publisher: Harlequin Nocturne March 20, 2012, Audio: Harlequin Enterprises, Ltd. April 1 2012

The legacy he must obey…
The child she must save…
The man who threatens to fulfill her every fantasy…
and break her heart.

Alpha wolf Ridge Addison left his wife in Las Vegas, vowing to put their one reckless night of passion behind him and return to his clan. Thirteen years later he needs a divorce so he can become pack leader. Yet he's never forgotten the sensuous witch whose life he saved…or the knee-buckling kisses he still craves.

After they parted, Abigail tried banishing Ridge from her memory. Now her heart belongs only to her son. But when the boy is kidnapped, she knows she alone can't save him. Though Abigail's body still aches for Ridge, she's willing to give him his freedom in exchange for his help. But who will shield her heart from the only man she's ever let claim her, body and soul?

What happens in Vegas….doesn’t stay in Vegas….Ridge and Abigail are case in point. Theirs was a wild and fun beginning. Wolf meets witch, saves witch, after a night of partying Elvis marries them and then everything kind of explodes from there. Ridge is a rare guy, a guy who wants to settle down and have family…and guy who actually craves it. He’s also a guy who doesn’t know that he’s half way there. Abby….well she needs a good clunk on the head. She pushes everything away and has done that most of her life. Now, her son is kidnapped and Ridge is the only person that can help her, a knight in shining armor! Lies and half truths can’t prevent either from their goals; in the end it takes one smart kid to point things in the right direction.
To me this was major role reversal; it’s usually the guy that has commitment issues not the girl. Change is good! The story is delightful, even if a bit predictable in some places, but still a good read. The ending was cute, needless to say that I’ve gained a respect for teenagers.
The audio was fun. I laughed out loud causing a few stares in my direction. I must admit to not liking the sound of Sasha Dunbrook’s voice at the beginning of the story, it had a whinny undertone to it. But by the third chapter I had notice that she acts well, using inflection in her tone and distinguishing the multiple voices so that you know who is narrating, and which character is speaking. She even made Ryan’s voice sound younger, the perfect age for a new teenager. If you have enjoyed Michele Hauf in the past you will continue to do so, weather in print or audio, this is a must read.

I love Michele Hauf.
Any writing, any novel, involving her, I don't even doubt its potential.

The biggest thing that I love about her writing and her voice the most, is the tales that she strings up and invites us readers into- are always so tragic but simple, heartbreaking but perfect.

I'd be lying if I said that every novel I've read from her DIDN'T have some crucial component to it that wasn't predictable. But I admire how Michele Hauf takes the predictability and runs the hell away with it. Instead of delving and stressing into a point that would just be tiresome, she bites off what she can chew and she makes the most of it. Just from one little point in the plot, she's able to twist people's hearts and emotions with it to compensate for its natural nature of being predictable.

The first Michele Hauf novel I read was Kiss Me Deadly. I was going to Hawaii for a few weeks with my family and I just wanted some quick reads to shoot through while on the plane or for long nights in the who-knows-where hotels. Delving into Kiss Me Deadly- unknowing that it was actually the second book in the series- the only thought I had was "hell, I've got a few hours to spare and we're not going hiking for another few hours"

Next thing I know, I've got my face glued to my kindle for those few hours, in the long car ride up a mountain, and up a two-hour long trail through caves.

The most that I remember from that day was not the scenery or the experience, but it was the laughs, the cries, and the sighs that Ravin Cross's and Nickolas Drake's romance gave me.

This was last year and I still remember Kiss Me Deadly and the feelings it gave me, in precise order of its events.

That's how it was with The Werewolf's Wife. Hell- I really expected no less.

The Werewolf's Wife didn't contain a killer witch who made deals with the devil and a sexy soulful vampire with a knack for being sexy, charming, hilarious, and witty-- no, The Werewolf's Wife contained a centuries old witch who trusted herself and people as far as she could throw them and a werewolf who is hope and good-Samaritan incarnate.

Michele Hauf creates once again a plot that's not too heavy on the stress- but it still makes sense and the results are wonderful and heart wrenching.

The main characters Abigail and Ridge- they got problems. Their problems have problems. But when one matter brings these two unlikely characters together, they change each other in ways that digs deeper than they ever imagine themselves could go and discover.

And as expected, at the last word of the last page, my face involuntarily breaks into just one huge grin. (That's another aspect of Hauf- her endings are the bee's knees)

Now I know this review was more a show of how I am in lesbians with Michele Hauf and her writing- really just in summation, The Werewolf's Wife is worth the read. It's not long or complicated, but it's simply great and cute, and not to mention a bit daring. Seriously-- it delivers.

As a member of Literal Addiction Paranormal Book Club I have heard about Michelle Hauf and even chatted with her during a couple author chats, but had not read one of her books yet. I have a few and had planned on reading them many times but for some reason I just hadn’t done it. So when I was looking for a steamy shifter book Our LA Pack Alpha Chelle recommended one of Michelle Hauf’s from her Beautiful Creatures World. That day while looking at Netgalley I found The Werewolf’s Wife and was excited when I was accepted to review it. Needless to say Chelle has never steered me wrong and she didn’t here either. I so enjoyed reading about Ridge and Abigail and Michelle Hauf’s Beautiful Creatures.
Ridge is a werewolf and he has just become the Principle (Alpha) for the Northern Pack that is located in Minnesota. He is a flannel and jeans wearing lumber jack and an all around nice guy. (Michelle describes him as looking like Jason Statham and I pulled up a picture of him before I started reading and let me tell you having him in my head while reading was very very nice :-P ) He had been trying for years to forget the woman he met in Vegas and after a lot of Vodka married. Now he needs to save his pack from falling totally apart and knows that part of Principals strength comes from his ability to make a family. Ridge isn’t sure he can do that but knows his 1st step is to divorce Abigail “The Baddest Witch in the Midwest”
Abigail is a beautiful fire witch and a member of The Council that represents the Paranormal Nations. While getting ready to pick her son Ryan up from the airport she gets a call telling her that she must find a vampire that was taken by some werewolves for Bloodsport in the next 48 hours IF she wants to ever get Ryan back. Then as if things couldn’t get worse she answers the door to find Ridge at the door with divorce papers. Remembering how much of a good honorable guy he is she bargains for his help to get her son back. Can they work together to do that?
While reading it I had to ask myself the question “Should these two be together?” I really felt for Ridge. He’s a great Hero and you just can’t help but love him. Abigail on the other hand is not always very nice. She has a past full of mistakes that she has left behind since having Ryan. While reading though I wondered if she had actually changed or just ran away? In the end I wanted them to work it out and really enjoyed the process with them. Michelle gives you a lot of information while reading this book, but I never felt overwhelmed by it. I was a little scared that I would have problems since I hadn’t read any other books in this world, but instead of issues I was left with a desire to look up everyone I met and read their books too. I give this book 4 stars and look forward to reading about many more books in Michelle Hauf’s Beautiful Creatures World

Michelle's KISS ME DEADLY was one of the first books I downloaded on Kindle. While I liked the story I found the writing rushed and tilted towards the expository. THE WEREWOLF'S WIFE is unevenly pitched towards telling instead of showing and again feels rushed. I think Michelle is talented so it may be a limitation from the publisher that makes it necessary to use information dumping as a device.

Suspension of Disbelief:
Recently I pointed out that having something completely unbelievable outside the scope of the world building makes a suspension of disbelief harder. In THE WEREWOLF'S WIFE I found this in the romantic situation. I enjoy the concept of two paranormal lovers meeting up again in a crisis situation and the pacing is excellent, but the idea that a mother would be thinking of sex, much less having it, while trying to get her son back from kidnappers is just plain ridiculous.

If your kid was kidnapped or in such danger would you eat, sit casually in a restaurant and flirt, or sleep without the help of a doctor? I don't care if your a witch, a wolf or just a human when your kid is in danger that is what you think about; I just can't see having sex to take your mind off the problem. It's the distraction that made it impossible for me to fully engage. I kept thinking, "She's eating and having orgasms while her kid is n this kind of danger?" No Way!

Ick Potential!
One thing that bugs me in the book is that the alpha wolf character has to have sex shifted or partially shifted to bond. This had been disastrous for the character in the past. At one point he has paws and a tail and is about to get it on with another character, a human. I LOVE animals but I don't make love with animals. Fortunately, Michelle informed me just now (3/26 evening EST) that he is a man with a wolf head and other features like talons and a tail. Whew!
Backstory:
I found the story hard to follow because of not having read the novels in between KISS ME DEADLY. I think I read something short about a wedding between a werewolf and a vampire (referred to in this story) and I know I enjoyed Monsters Don't Do Christmas in A VAMPIRE FOR CHRISTMAS. But too much was missing to really suss the author's entire constructed world of paranormals.

Voice:
Other times, I found Hauf's voice off from normal written speech patterns; almost as if English is a second language for her. It may be a Minnesota dialect issue—it is pretty minor but enough that I noticed it.

The Upshot:
If you are a reader of this series then yo will probably enjoy this. And if you like to read about two lovers rediscovering each other it's probably right up your alley.

The Werewolf’s Wife is a classic paranormal romance with all the hallmarks of the genre. There are no surprises in this book, but then, what romance reader doesn’t want everything to turn out the way they always hoped it would. At least when you read romance, you know the ending isn’t going to be horrible, and that’s a big part of what makes the genre a relaxing read.

The blurb
Alpha wolf Ridge Addison left his wife in Las Vegas, vowing to put their one reckless night of passion behind him and return to his clan. Thirteen years later he needs a divorce so he can become pack leader. Yet he’s never forgotten the sensuous witch whose life he saved…or the knee-buckling kisses he still craves.
After they parted, Abigail tried banishing Ridge from her memory. Now her heart belongs only to her son. But when the boy is kidnapped, she knows she alone can’t save him. Though Abigail’s body still aches for Ridge, she’s willing to give him his freedom in exchange for his help. But who will shield her heart from the only man she’s ever let claim her, body and soul?
The best part of this book is Ridge. At first I didn’t believe this guy. He seemed too quick to volunteer to help out, but then I realised that he really is just a nice guy. He’s tough, but also vulnerable, sweet, and noble, and he wants a family. He’s a big man with principles and a soft heart, just the kind we all love – don’t we ladies?

Abigail is a powerful fire witch who gets a little finger zapping crazy when she’s surprised. Ridge got a taste of what she can do in Las Vegas and now he’s wary of her – with good reason. She’s a little mixed up about relationships, but motherhood has softened her enough that she’s more open to Ridge than she was thirteen years ago. Even so, if she really doesn’t want to get close to people, she’s going about it the wrong way with Ridge. Do you really expect to have sex that good then just walk away?

Anyone who isn’t into romance might find it a little shallow and predictable, but it delivers an entertaining read with a lovely hero and slightly crazy but understandable heroine. It’s not my favourite Michele Hauf book but I still enjoyed it a lot. I do like happy endings, and when it’s romance, I don’t care if it’s a little too neat. I give it 3 stars and recommend it to paranormal romance lovers looking for an engaging read.

Review:
"The Werewolf's Wife" by Michele Hauf was a good read for me. I really enjoyed it all. I was caught up in this novel from page one....definitely a 'Twilight' moment! Yes, it was long however, if you can stay with this storyline setting from Minnesota... I believe you will understand what the story is all about.

The hero and heroine was marvelously presented. Ridge Addison was from the Northern Wolf Pack who was the leader (Principal-Alpha)who was a lumberjack...and yes a werewolf......and then there was Abigail Rowan(fire-witch) and member of the Council that represented the Paranormal Nations. How these two people meet up was somewhat hilarious..... both being drunk one night in Vegas thirteen years ago...THEY GOT MARRIED by Elvis.......only later the witch bride freaks out over him(Ridge) becoming a wolf....things end up where they depart..... and finally the story picks up where that Ridge is now thinking of being married again...starting a family, however, he will have to have his divorce finalized from Abigail before that can happen..........How will this turn out? Ridge has to go see Abigail (who is now a mother of Ryan)...and now her son had been kidnapped. This is the time that I will say you must simply pick up this good read to find out what will come from all of this. Be prepared for a fun ride..... this storyline moves fast.... you get it all from this plot....fights, gunshots, killings and in the end .....I will stop now ..... I don't want to give anymore away. Pick up "The Werewolf's Wife" and read it for yourself to find out who is the villain..... I even guessed it!

If you are looking for a good Paranormal Romance novel with a lots of action, twist and turns... and yes...it gets intensive .... you have come to the right place...."The Werewolf's Wife" would be a good read for you. I would recommend this novel as a good read and the book cover isn't bad to look at either.

If you’re ready to grow up from the Twilight Saga, pick up this tantalizing book by Michele. You won’t want to put The Werewolf’s Wife down.
Ridge Addison – lumberjack, tall, muscular, principal of the Northern pack and, oh yeah, a werewolf too. Abigail Rowan – mother, has problems with electricity, a member of the Council and, did I mention, a fire witch out to save her kidnapped son, Ryan. Main setting – Minnesota – Lake Harriet neighborhood and the north woods.

Ridge wants to be leader of his pack but needs to find a suitable mate for life. One problem, he’s married. Thirteen years ago while in Las Vegas, he came upon a damsel in distress. In the middle of a fire pyre, tied to a pole, Abigail screamed as a male fire witch chanted a spell in Latin. Ridge saved Abigail and after many shots of vodka, decided to get married – by Elvis. Remember, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.

Fast-forward thirteen years, and Abigail receives a disturbing phone call while waiting to pick her son up at the airport – he’s been kidnapped. Given the demands, time frame and meeting place by the captors, witches allied with the Light, she prepares to save Ryan at any and all costs. Ridge shows up on her doorstep with divorce papers for her to sign. Before presenting and asking her to sign the papers, he learns of her situation and offers help. This is where the fun begins.

Abigail and Ridge set-off on a hunt to find the demanded vampire in exchange for Ryan. On the journey, they encounter fights, gunshots, and find their vampire. Abigail discovers why they want this particular vamp and takes appropriate action to protect her son.

Abigail and Ridge encounter and confront battles within themselves and with the reality of love. Things don’t always go as planned. Things take you by surprise. Things can make you happy.

The Werewolf's Wife by Michele Hauf
I could not find this book listed as part of any series, but previous events that were mentioned had been in the book Her Vampire Husband. Ridge Addison was part of the Northern wolf pack. After he eventually had to kill his pack leader, he became the Principal. They have been losing members so his pack mate, Jason, suggests that Ridge marries and starts a family to bring members back. One problem. Ridge had gotten drunk one night in Vegas thirteen years ago and married. The honeymoon barely started before his new witch bride freaked over his wolf and things ended on a bad note. Ridge still thought, dreamed and cringed when she came to mind but it was time to finalize their parting with divorce papers.

The worst day of Abigail Rowan's life just happened, a phone call claiming they kidnapped her son. And now Ridge Addison is at her door with divorce papers. Why not have him help her before she releases him? As Ridge and Abigail work together to find a vampire that the kidnapper's demanded they end up on an adventure that brings them closer and they both try to remember the night so long ago where a drunken werewolf and witch got married by Elvis. Is there any hope for these two mismatched breeds to find happiness together?

Michele brings her characters to life. Ridge has been mistreated most of his life. An orphan pup trying to please. You feel for the poor guy and just want him to find someone who will truly love and appreciate him. You feel for the mother in Abigail as she works to meet the deadline to rescue Ryan. And of course the angry feelings against the characters who are the villains.

I liked the story line but I felt I was missing a lot by not reading any of the previous books. Plus it had way too much sex scenes for me.
Ridge Addison is the leader of his pack but thier is only four members. To
get more he needs to find a wife so he can have a family and give his wolfs a family to be a part of.
Ridge is already married to a witch for one day. That had ended in a big fight that almost cut off the family jewels but it did stop him from fathering children.
Abigail was being burned at a stake when Ridge saw and rescued her. They both got drunk and ended up married by Elvis in Las Vegas. She freaked out when they were making love he started to shift and lost control of her magic and hurt Ridge. Abigail had no idea he was a werewolf until then.
Now she gets a phone call that her son was kidnapped and she had to rescue a vampire and exchange him for her son. She can't call the councel.
Right after that Ridge knocks on her door wanting divorce papers signed. Abigail being desperate makes him a deal help her find and rescue this vampire from other wolf pack. So she can rescue her son from his kidnapper.
Some werewolf packs kidnap vampires and make them fight to the death. Even though its against thier laws. That stopping is pack from doing just that is how Ridge became the new pack leader.
Ridge finds out that their is a chance he is Abagail son father but only a slight chance. He was willing to rescue him before he thought he was a father but that is his dream to have a family and belong to one.
Thier are a lot of fights and a lot of death and sex in this story.
I was given this ebook to read in exchange of honest review from Netgalley.

You can find this review posted at Forever Book Lover.

I haven't read a paranormal shifter book in a very long time. The old saying, "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas", kept playing in my head while I was reading this. I saw the writing on the wall on this one, hmm... Seems like those quickie Vegas weddings just don't last, like they use to.

Ridge isn't able to be the "leader of the pack" until he cleans up some unfinished business. So off he goes looking for a witch, yes I mean that literally, he married thirteen years ago so he can get a divorce. Little did he know their one night tied them together forever, yep you guessed it a little bambino..

This is the first time I read any of Michelle Hauf's book, and I did enjoy it, just some of the plot was predictable. There were some hot steamy sex scenes to keep the pages turning, but I felt I could tell the outcome before I got to the third chapter.

I still think it is a good read and I think anyone who likes paranormal romance will enjoy this one. As I said it is the first time for me to read this author, but I liked her style her ease of words that I will definitely pick up another one of her books. I will caution you that this was part of a series and at first I was a little lost without reading them first. I also didn't get a good picture in my head of what he "shifted" to, so I had to google some pics just to get an image to reference back to.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

We got to meet Ridge in Her Vampire Husband when he took over the pack he was part of. In The Werewolf’s Wife we learn more about what makes this sweet bad boy werewolf tick. About one wild night he spent in Vegas. You know the typical Vegas night. Save a witch from a firey death, get totally wasted with said witch, marry said witch, have some awesome sex, totally wolf out and almost get killed. But after that one night he has never seen his wife since then. Now Ridge is ready to start over, but 1st he needs a divorce.

Abigal, has tried and tried to remember that night she got married, but she can’t remember all the details. But she has more important things to worry about her son has been kidnapped. All she needs is a hero. But where does one find a hero? The last thing Abigail ever expected was a knock on her door in her time of need, or the man on the other side of her door. Her Husband!!

Ridge is the big tough werewolf who deep down just wants to love and be loved. Abigail has for so long kept the walls up around her because she has never been lucky in love. These two make a great team. They work well together, as long as Abigail does what Ridge wants, which is not often.

I really enjoyed this story. I love the world that Michele has created. I love that so many of her stories have interlocking characters. It makes me always look forward to her next book. To see who we get to revisit this time.

and big thanks to Netgalley!

I love Harelquins teens titles, but the adult stuff is a hit or miss with me. I feel if you've read one, you've read them all, but every now and then I find something that tickles my fancy. This is my first Michele Hauf novel. The synopsis had me intrigued so I thought I'd give it a try. Things started off a bit slow for me, but once I got about five chapters in, I felt like the story began to flow better.

I liked the plot. The action and suspense surrounding the main conflict, finding Abby's son, was interesting. Sometimes when I'm reading a novel, I find that the voice of the characters can get lost in the action and/or the writing tends to falter a bit. That didn't happen here. The story held my interest for the most part and I didn't have things completely figured out.

Characters are really important for me. If I'm crazy about the characters, I'm all in. Even if you kill me with angst or scare me half to death, there is no turning back. The characters here were just okay for me. There wasn't anything particularly unique or endearing about them. Ridge was a good guy, but he was a little too nice and easy going for me. Abby was tough, but at the same time, she kept flip flopping when it came to Ridge and it was annoying at times.

All in all, it was a good read. Nothing new, but a quick read with nice action and characters that are likable enough.

After a man rescues a damsel in distress they go on into Vegas, get really drunk and really married and then he wolf's out and she runs away. Thirteen years later he becomes the principal of his wolf pack and Abigail is hiding her son, who she thinks was fathered by the fire witch Ridge rescued her from. Ridge seeks Abigail out for a long overdue divorce the day her son is kidnapped and having not gotten over her, agrees to help her once more, not knowing it's his son.

There are a few holes, but they're small. Abigail is a four hundred year old witch who thinks the baby being late means it's the first guy she slept with, not the last one and Ridge wolfing out while they were consumating their marriage, the act that seals the life long mating ritual of the wolf, isn't something he considers. These two minor issues aside, the story is solid and well told, the characters developed and likeable and the pacing and sexual tension between the two is right on and well written.

I would read another of this author's works and recommend to my friends to who like romance.

This book isn't officially apart of a series but rather a one book spin-off. This book stands well on its own. This is the second book I have read by Michele Hauf. That being said, I enjoyed the big picture. I loved meeting Ryan near the end and how he responded to Ridge. I would have liked to know more about Abigail's past. I felt I didn't hate Miles as much as I should. Perhaps he was mysterious for too long. It was a good read that kept my interest. I loved the initial message to the reader describing the celebrity inspiration for Ridge's character. Though... I can't imagine Ridge in human form with little hair on his head considering he's a werewolf. If you enjoy her other books, give this a shot.
