Paris is just a demon minding his own business when he is jarred out of his comfortable existence by a chance encounter. Being a Lord in the Royal Court, and a highly respected member of his community, he is not prone to human affinities. But when he feels an aura unlike anything he has ever felt before, he is drawn to it with a fierce curiosity. Zoe Fine, a young woman trying to hide from her past in the big city, catches his attention and holds it firmly in place. Itching with insatiable desire to find out why she is so different, Paris begins to follow her, watching silently as she scrapes and claws at a meager existence in the city the best she can.
When Zoe becomes aware of Paris’ haunting presence, she summons the courage to confront him. Resorting to drastic measures to rid herself of his shadow, she offers him a deal. Unfortunately for her, he accepts and she is sucked into a world she tried so hard to escape.
But Paris begins to feel things for Zoe, and his infatuation does not go unnoticed. Jackson, his long time business partner, senses the changes in the stoic demon lord and tracks the source of the disruption to his newest client. When everything Paris tries to do right, goes horribly wrong, everyone will pay dearly for his sins.

Quick read for lunch time. I enjoyed it, but it ended very abruptly.

Quick read, a lot of information for world building in a short story, ended rather abruptly. Will I read more? Maybe.

This book as completely unexpected and had me 100% engaged within the first pages. We join the story of Paris, a lonely demon lord, on the prowl and enamored with an innocent, Zoe.
Zoe routinely bathes in the local pond, late at night. It's here that Paris spies on her, becoming more and more addicted to her. On one fateful night, a stranger tries to attack her. In the brutal way of demon lords, Paris ends up protecting her and then promptly putting her under contract. Instead of quickly going into the land of smutty goodness, Paris is called away by the council to hear some pretty awful news - he's been mated to the most horrible but most powerful person available.
Zoe doesn't exactly take the news that Paris now controls her lightly. She goes into full research mode and ends up trying to use that knowledge to break her contract. Turns out, that's a bad idea that can lead to into eternal servitude. One thing leads to another, and Zoe and Paris end up helping each other out. All in all, this was a jam-packed quick read that had me wanting more from this world. Sadly, I'm having trouble finding any.

Quick read- something light to see you through a break from work.
Some fun story, given how Paris, the demon, is so sure of himself and his desire for Zoe.
Bummer: It ends so fast, you feel you hit a bump and had to stop!
But: It's worth reading.

Loved this novella.

Included a few typos and spelling mistakes. The writing was repetitive and very awkward to read, especially the first three chapters.
