Shadow Strike: A Cyberpunk LitRPG

Rate this book
Plot during the day. Strike during the night. Celebrate when the check hits the bank.

Things are different in Jardin now.

A truce with the enemy has brought a temporary calm, along with new authoritative laws nobody wants to follow.

With the temporary ceasefire in place, Kai must confront a nemesis from his past. An insidious man who wants Kai to hand Ilona and the secrets of the re-genesis project to the Solar Coalition.

Like hell Kai’s going to do that.

He and his team of sexy cyber girls enter a race against the clock to find a means of double-crossing the enemy at the bargaining table because Kai damn well knows the enemy is probably thinking of doing the same thing to them.

Kai must take on the role of the Marionette Task Force’s commander and covertly enter the infamous Umbra District . . . A cesspool of ruthless gangs, shady alleyways, and explicit nightclubs with the dirtiest girls the planet has to offer, dancing to the glow of neon.

The Marionette Task Force might have the skills needed to weaken the Coalition’s hold over the city, but do they have the speed necessary to pull it off before the enemy realizes what they’ve been plotting in the shadows?

Contains graphic violence, adult language, and explicit sexual content.

I DNF this book at page 275. It just wasn't that good, and the plot veered in a direction I didn't enjoy much. It devolved into one of the marionettes constantly having system issues and shutting down at the worst possible times just to up the drama and make things difficult. And then the lower grade one takes a .50 round in the chest that messes her up and she starts to have failures at bad times, often coinciding with the first one's failures. Then the two marionettes shut down and get left behind because the MC is wounded, and now they are on a hair-brained attempt to rescue them.

Since I wasn't into the MC getting it on with robots, this went too far for me and I just stopped reading.

I thoroughly enjoyed the read. Almost like totalarism forcing their views as the only views. Did make a good point of "what happens if their android crutch is taken". Would they recover? Would fall 1st!
