Grails: The Cool, The Rare, and the Obscure of Arcade Games

Rate this book
"Grails" is an awesome classic arcade game related book put together by the talented and knowledgeable Mr. Sean Newton. I personally love the book. Sean digs deep into the arcade game collector's mind with an array of rare and desirable games not often seen. Everyone knows what Space Invaders, Asteroids, Pac-Man, and Donkey Kong are. But have you ever heard of Quantum, Reactor, or Boot Hill? Even if you are a classic arcade game collector, have you ever even played the games mentioned in this book? Chances are you haven't played all the games Sean reviews in his book, and you probably have never even heard of some of them. That's what makes it so interesting. Sean did his research and gives a thorough breakdown of each games' rarity, gameplay, cabinet designs and artwork, and why it is in the "grail" category. The book is well laid out, with plenty of spot on information mixed with Sean's personal comedic wit, making the book fun and interesting at the same time without it coming off as a boring history lesson. There's plenty of pictures, most are collectors standing next to their grail; the author lined up all of these people and graciously including them in his book. Whether you're a classic arcade game collector, are just interested in the history of the Golden Age of arcade games, or maybe looking for something a little different to enjoy, this book is a good read. Highly recommended for all ages.
