After a major historical event, my chances of returning home have plummeted. If I don’t time travel soon, my body will lose its strength and disappear into nothing. Now Gabriel and I need to find the right people to help me. Except they’re not exactly people. For a small Wallachian Forest, there are too many supernatural beings to encounter. Along our journey, we were surprised to form new friendships but also to discover new threats lurking at every corner, from an unusually violent Hungarian noblewoman (what is the deal with her?) to vampire-like strigoi. Who would’ve thought Vlad the Impaler’s castle wasn’t the most dangerous place out there? Even with the help of the benevolent creatures of the forest, we only have one chance during the moon eclipse to succeed at traveling back to my time. In the midst of it all of this, my body is becoming weaker and weaker. Will Gabriel and I make it through the ritual and travel back in time?
Bitten by Magic is book 2 in The Vampire Genesis Chronicles Series. Please read book 1, Bitten by Time, before sinking your fangs into this one ;)
Lara Bronson has always been a creative. First as a violinist and teacher and now as a writer. For most of her life, Lara has been obsessed with the definition of love, which she tried to find in books. Now, she decided to try her hand at all things love, relationships, and romance.
All Lara's romantasy books are part of The Timekeeper Universe. A fantasy universe hidden within our own history, that goes into the nitty gritty of what humans are capable for love. And even though, at its core, the world reflects real emotions, it’s still a fantasy where you can lose yourself completely.
Besides writing, Lara and her husband enjoy parenthood in all its glory with their twin boys.
Arc reader here.... wow. I cannot put into words how much better book 2 is! So much happened! I don't want to give details because spoiling this book for anyone is a travesty! But Lara picked it up for this book. So much adventure, fighting, love and amazing mythical beings... wow you will be blown away when you read this book! I love these characters so much and I didn't want the book to end!!! And the ending .... ahhhh!!! I need more so much more!!!
Let me just start by saying the last chapter of this book made me ugly cry, the big sobbing wracking kind of crying.
I find myself sitting here wondering how to write this review without giving something away.
This book gave me everything I was missing in Bitten By Time, the things that didn't make sense now seem like the only way it could have happened while making you need more.
This book is so well written, with beautiful storytelling, characters that will capture your heart, and a story that adds so much depth to the history that's woven into it.
Thank you so much to the author for the recap at the beginning and the pronunciation guide at the end it added so much to the reading experience.
Thank you to the author Lara Bronson for providing a copy of the E-Book, I have voluntarily read and reviewed it and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
A fantastic read that left me wanting more. I really enjoyed this book, full of highs and lows and at times I was so immersed in the descriptions that I felt like I was actually there. Can’t wait for book 3.
I enjoyed the the first book in the series, yet found Bitten by Magic to be even more to my liking.
Vlad the Impaler still plays only a minor part in the story. When it comes to interactions with the main characters, his role seems limited to making benevolent decisions which benefit them. I imagine his role will be expanded in the final stories, it's called the Vampire Genesis Chronicles after all.
Maybe it's not the point though. Petra traveled in hopes of finding out more about the myths and legends surrounding Dracula. Instead she has found love and adventure, and is now focused on preserving her health and finding her way back to modern day Seattle with her husband.
Petra and Gabriel become more fleshed out as characters and minor characters are expanded and play more prominent parts in the story.
To me, the most fascinating part of the story has been Lara Bronsons weaving of magical creatures into this series. Some readers would consider these creatures to be monsters, but their philosophy seems to be one of live and let live. Their rituals are described very imaginatively and with great attention to detail.
Both my wife and I have read the first two segments of this series and can't wait for the next installment. We are having fun trying to guess where this tale will go next!!
I have laughed and squealed reading this and ugly cried.. in public😂🙈 my review for book one I explained how I wanted a little more of something? This was ALL IT AND THEN SOME!!
Also, have to say I do like that Lara put a recap because if it had been time between reading each it’s nice(:
I am connected to these characters and love the description of their universe and am excited for the next book!
As alwayssss thanks so much to Lara for providing me an E-book and all thoughts/opinions/feelings(😂) are completely my own! Now to book three🤩
Ok… we have to make a deal Lara, especially if you want to be a member of the L Club, i can not have my heart broken again in these books. This one was definitely not fair. So while i'm reading the next two, please be nice to us in future books!
Without giving away any spoilers, this was a beautifully written book that incorporated romance, supernatural beings and period differences. The author did a great job keeping me entertained and wanting more. The character arc is well done with likable main characters and subtle development of sub characters that add to the story line perfectly. Definitely looking forward to book 3!
Great read! Almost sad that I didn't have book 3, then I remembered I was part of the ARC team.😆 Book 2 is definitely much better than book 1. The plot is thickening with higher stakes.
Exceptionally well done! I thoroughly enjoyed book one, but book two took it to a new level! The amount of effort, research, and time that Lara puts into her books is insane. I find it super easy to become completely enamored and swimming in her descriptions and plot. I am a sucker for lore and mythology, so this series so far is so well done in my opinion. The last thing I want to talk about is the ending... HOLY COW THE ENDING! The last 5-10 pages had me feeling so many emotions in rapid succession, I was dizzy. Counting the days until I get the next book.
This is the second book in an amazing series on time travelling.
I thoroughly enjoyed book one, but book two took it to a new level, so much adventure, fighting, love, and amazing mythical beings. This book has more adventures and we meet some new characters, new bonds are made and some sad farewells happen. I love reading how the characters' stories unfold and the friendships they build.
The author is fantastic at world building. You can visualise yourself in the story. This book gives you everything you were missing in book 1, the things that didn't make sense now seem like the only way it could have happened while making you need more. I can not get enough of this series.
It ends on a major cliffhanger, so I'm glad I can immediately dive into the next book.
Cliffhanger but not horrible since I have all the books. I kove this series so much.
Book 2 starts where book 1 ends. It is a slower burn but does not disappoint in details. The character building is incredible. I am so happy for Petra and Gabriel. They have went through so much and finally made it to there first goal.
This was a beautifully written book! I thought it was a good second book to the story. I thought it was even better than the first book. It’s a very captivating story it keep me engaged the whole time
Ready for more Yes ma'am, another hit for Ms. Bronson. This book 2 was awesome. You always keep is on the edge of pur seat. With all the emotional upheaval. Can't wait for more.
I read this without realizing that it was the 2nd book in the series. I recommend you read the 1st book first. The back story is mentioned a lot and it felt like I was missing pieces.
Bitten by Magic is an action packed time travel love story. The romance aspect is mild...I prefer more spice. There are a lot of characters and creatures to get to know. Generally an entertaining read. The cliffhanger is enticing.
I loved Bitten by Time and I didn’t think it could get any better but I loved this one even more.
I just wanted to give a huge thanks to the author, Lara Bronson for this amazing book. When I couldn’t give my review in time for the release date, she was really understanding and kept me in her ARC team and even sent me the copy of Bitten by Love🫶
The characters I loved from book 1, like Gabriel, Petra and even Vlad are still making my love this book. I love getting to read their story unfold and with all the adventure of being stuck during the Impaler’s time is really good. That ending though, such a cliffhanger!! Cant wait to read the next book, Bitten by Love.
This book starts right after the first book (Bitten by Time) so that must be read first. We are continuing Petra and Gabriel’s journey in the past. They are enjoying their time together until Petra’s life is out in danger. Then they must go on a quest to return her to her proper time before she disappears. This book is filled with interesting characters and unique plot lines. You can’t help by root for the love between Petra and Gabriel.
Great second book to a fast paced story. I really enjoy this series, the characters are well described, the story takes you on a ride that keeps you breathless. Can’t wait for the third book.
This book starts right where the last book ended. Petra and her husband, Gabriel, are trying to find a way to get her back to her time because she is getting sick. Without her amulet, it might be a lost cause. They meet Muma Padurii in the Other Realm, and she told them what they needed to do. This book was an adventure to get the items need to get Petra back to her time with Gabriel in tow. Yes, they want to take Gabriel also. They are in love and want to be together no matter the time.
Not only do we have the adventure of gathering all of the items. We have a new villian. Lady Arany, of possible Hungarian descent, may blow up all of the lies Petra has weaved about her heritage. Lady Arany has vowed to find out what is going on because she knows Petra is not a Hungarian princess. On top of all this running around, Petra is getting sicker. Thankfully, Muma Padurii was able to get her a concoction to help with her strength, but she is fading fast and needs to get back to her time as soon as possible.
This book ends on a cliffhanger. Readers will be scrambling to get the next book to read about Petra and Gabriel. This series is nothing like I thought it would be. I am happy I continued reading. This adventure is worth the mistake of misinterpreting what this series was about. I love Petra and her modern ways in the past. I can't wait to see if they succeed in getting back to her time together or separately.
I was a fan of the first book in this series but I LOVED this second book! Compared to the first book this book found our characters on more adventures with more action. There was more magic and we finally start to see strigoli, which are a form of vampires. This form of vampire is more of a mindless monster. They are mostly the henchmen for an evil sorceress. The sense of found family is more profound in this book which is something I love in books. I am quite surprised at how much I love Gabriel. I’m not usually the knight in shining armor type, I’m more into the tall, dark, handsome, and morally grey type, but I am a Gabriel fan. He and Petra are adorable together and I just love it. There is much more talk of magic in this book and we meet more magical creatures, such as a charming and funny werewolf. There is an amazing ensemble of characters in this book, some which we met in the first book and get to know better in this book, and some brand new. If you read the first book and liked it then I believe like myself that you will LOVE this one. The cliffhanger was crazy and had me sitting in shock. I had to go right to book 3! Love this book, love this series so far, and cannot wait to see where book 3 takes me!
Well, here we are at book two of the Vampire Genesis Chronicles, lets recap a little for those that haven’t read book one. Although if you have not read book one, you should before you read this one. Book 2 was just as beautifully written as book 1.
Ok so you remember Petra. She is the college student that traveled to Romania to visit the castle ruins of her hero Vlad the Impaler, but what she got instead was trip back in time thanks to the pendant and ruby that she found. Anyway, while there she found more than her hero, she found love. Now, let’s move to book 2.
We start in the market with Petra and Gabriel on their way to see Muma Padurii to speak with her about sending Petra home. The pair spend their time trying to get her back to her time, but can they? Will they find a way to return her to her own place and time?
I want to tell you so much, but I don’t want to spoil if for you. So, I will say, get the book, read the book, love the book.
Lara Bronson did it again with Bitten by Magic. This story had me hooked from the beginning just like the first. I was so happy to start the book with a recap and then have it pick right up from the first book’s cliffhanger.
I can not get enough of this series. This book had me more obsessed than before with the romance between Petra and Gabriel. There is so much more action and adventure in this book and it had me holding onto my seat the entire time. I really enjoyed all the supernatural beings introduced into n this book. It gave the story a lot more spark and made me take a whole new level of interest in the story line. I loved that the vampires made their appearance.
I just couldn’t wait to finish and see what was going to happen. Once again I love, love, love that this author ended the story on another cliffhanger. This makes me so impatient to start the next because I need answers 😁.
If you enjoy romance-magic- and medieval times run to grab this series! If you have read Bitten by Time and have yet to read this, what are you waiting for???!!!!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I was lucky to be an ARC reader for this book and to say I enjoyed it is an understatement!
What can I tell you about this book? When I first heard about Bitten by Time I was very intrigued. Vlad the Impaler, time travel, romance. But I wasn’t ready for this! Bitten by Magic is so much more.
I loved the premise of the book, the story, the time travel, and the integration of real history with fiction, past and present, there was so much I couldn't wait to read everything. The growth of Petra and Gabriel's characters as individuals and as a couple is amazing and the way the magical creatures are introduced into this series is very well written.
The series is called “The Vampire Genesis Chronicles” so I’ve been patiently waiting for this part of the story to develop and then bamm, the ending, damn! It ran me over like a bulldozer! Prepare yourself for a HUGE cliffhanger!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This was an amazing read that honestly left me wanting the next book right now! Bitten by Magic is the second book to the Vampire Genesis Chronicles series by Lara Bonson and it was definitely a great read! The author did a fabulous job at keeping my attention and really enjoying the book. The character plot and the minor characters development was really good. I wish there was more of Vlad the im paler but I assume that in the final books his role will be more important. The magical creatures really made the story for me, they were so interesting and how they were written really kept my attention and kept me entertained! The story was amazing, the plot was so entertaining and the history and present aspect of the story was done so well. I absolutely recommend this book and cannot wait to continue this series in the future!
This is book 2 in the series and we get to continue their story. Book one was great but book 2 was even better, it took us to a whole new level.
It's such an emotional rollercoaster ride, that keeps you on the edge of your seat, just wanting to know more, page after page, I just couldn't put it down.
In this we get introduced to new characters, see new bonds formed and say goodbye.
The characters, storyline and plot where wonderfully written, Lara puts so much time and effort into her books, the research she does shows in her books and it brings us an epic series with wonderful unique worlds.
It's action packed with twists and turns, and a killer off a cliffhanger ending. Holy smokes. Highly recommend.
Holy craziness!!!! I didn't want to put this book down but this pesky thing called work got in the way. I can't even explain how much I loved this book. Even better than the first book.
This book follows Petra in her pursuit to repair the relic that took her to the past. The trials she defeated were so fun to watch. She created a great family, lost a mother figure and possibly even the love of her life. She survived a sorceress who wanted her dead and to not be able to return home and so much more. So many trials happen and she survived them all.
Again, it ends on a major cliff hanger so I'm glad I can immediately dive into the next book. Amazing character growth for all the characters and I'm sad to see them go. Amazing plot that I didn't want to step away from. Lara has created a world I don't want to leave and want to learn more about. Let's see if it can continue in the rest of this series.
Petra was happily living until one major event happened . Her pendant was broken which put her life in danger . She must return to her time to live . But she simply can't leave without Gabriel . They both set out in search of answers . On their journey, they met various creatures . This book is just brilliant. The theme of friendship is brilliantly shown here. The adventures were epic . The author introduced many amazing creatures . Every character holds a important part in the story . There were some sad events in the book. My favourite character was none other than anca . She is just amazing in this book . The way she help her friends on their adventure is really brave of her . Even when Zburătorul tried to put a spell , she stood still as steel . There is so much suprise in this book. The ending was so much unpredictable. A great book Recommended to everyone
This book just builds more onto the story but it was my least favorite out of all 4 books. It is necessary to read to understand the story between the main characters. It did drag a bit for me. This book is almost entirely in the time period where the MFC travels back in time. We spend the majority of this book of them searching for more information on a condition that is plaguing the MFC and how to stop it from happening. We meet a lot of characters in this part of the story. Some we like and others that are horrible.
Thank you for the ARC of book number two of The Vampire Genesis Chronicles. I liked Bitten by Time a lot but this book I loved! This continuation of the story is thrilling and I loved the quest to get Petra back home. Gabriel is hoping to go with her but this will not be easy to pull off. If you love mythical creatures and adventure this book will not disappoint. I can't wait for the next book to see what happens next.
