If I had to call out one thing about this book, it would be for its completely frank and candid writing style. I loved the twist hidden in the last couple of lines in most of the stories and how some of the stories interlinked with each other. The one story that stood out and would probably stay in my mind forever is the second one - that totally blew me away in the end - it was the least expected twist. All in all a great read - especially for anyone who cannot chew down strong and heavy Malayalam literature, this is a breezy read. For those who are swimming in the depths of hard core Malayalam literature, this may come across as a little immature-ish millenial/gen z type of book. So whether you love this book or hate it, Ido hope Joseph Annamkutty Jose is here to stay and create a lot more remarkable literary pieces for his audience :)

15 ചെറുകഥകളുടെ സമാഹാരം. വളരെ പ്രതീക്ഷയോടെ തുടങ്ങിയതിനു ശേഷം സാധാരണ നിലവാരത്തിലേക്കു താഴ്ന്നു എന്ന് തോന്നി... ഓരോരുത്തരുടെ എന്ത്, എങ്ങനെ എഴുതണം എന്ന് തീരുമാനിക്കുന്നത് പലവിധമാകാം. ഇതിലെ മിക്ക കഥകളും ഒരു ടോപ്പിക്ക് തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു അതിനു ചുറ്റും മെനഞ്ഞെടുത്തത് പോലെ ആണ് തോന്നുക.അതുകൊണ്ടുതന്നെ ചില കഥകളൊക്കെ ഉപദേശം കുത്തിനിറക്കാൻ ശ്രമിക്കുന്നതായാണ് അനുഭവപ്പെട്ടു.
രണ്ടാമത്തെ കഥ യായ ശരീരത്തിന്റെ ശരികൾ ആണ് എനിക്ക് ആകർഷകമായി തോന്നിയത്. കേട്ടിട്ടുള്ള കഥാ തന്തു ആയിരുന്നു എങ്കിലും ചില bias ഉകൾ നമ്മുടെ ഉള്ളിൽ അവശേഷിക്കും എന്നത്തിന്റെ ഒരു ഓര്മപ്പെടുതലായി ഈ കഥ.

After reading Daivathinte Chaaranmar, Joseph Annamkutty Jose’s first book, I was curious to see how his second work would evolve. That curiosity led me to Sneham Kaamam Bhranthu, a collection of 15 short stories woven around three intense human emotions — love, lust, and madness.

While not every story stood out, a few characters and moments lingered with me well after I finished reading. Some stories felt almost too real to be purely fictional, hinting at personal or observed truths. That blurring line between imagination and experience is one of the book’s more intriguing aspects.

Joseph’s writing retains his signature simplicity and relatability. Though the collection lacks consistency in impact, it’s clear that there’s honesty behind the words.

This isn’t a literary masterpiece, but it is a sincere, easy-to-read, and emotionally charged book that reflects the complexities of human relationships and desires. Worth a try if you enjoy modern Malayalam short fiction with a conversational tone.

തികച്ചും യാഥാർത്ഥ്യമല്ലാത്ത വളരെ അപ്രസന്നമായ ഒരു കൂട്ടം കഥകൾ.

എഴുത്തുകാരൻ പറയുന്നത് ഇത് അദ്ദേഹത്തിൻറെ ജീവിത കഥയല്ല എന്നാണെങ്കിലും എവിടെയൊക്കെയോ അദ്ദേഹത്തിൻറെ ഒരു സ്വന്തം ജീവിത സ്പർശം ഓരോ കഥയിലും ഒളിപ്പിച്ചുവെച്ച പോലെ തോന്നുന്നത്. ഓരോ കഥയും വായിക്കുമ്പോൾ നമുക്ക് തോന്നും ഇതൊക്കെ യഥാർത്ഥ ജീവിതത്തിൽ ആർക്കെങ്കിലും സംഭവിക്കുമോ എന്ന്. കാരണം പല കഥകളും അത്ര കണ്ട് നെഗറ്റീവ് ആണ്, അല്ലെങ്കിൽ അത്ര കണ്ട് യാഥാർത്ഥ്യത തോന്നുന്നില്ല. ഈ പുസ്തകം വായിച്ചപ്പോൾ ഈ എഴുത്തുകാരനെ തന്നെ പറ്റിയുള്ള എൻറെ ചിന്താഗതി മാറിയിരിക്കുന്നു. ഇദ്ദേഹത്തിൻറെ ഇതിനുമുമ്പുള്ള രണ്ട് പുസ്തകങ്ങളും ഞാൻ വായിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. ആ പുസ്തകങ്ങൾ ഇദ്ദേഹത്തിൻറെ സ്വന്തം ജീവിതകഥകൾ ആയിരുന്നു. ആ പുസ്തകങ്ങളും വെറുതെ സമയം കളയാൻ വായിച്ചിരിക്കാം എന്നല്ലാതെ, കാര്യമാത്ര പ്രസക്തമായ ഒന്നും തന്നെ ആ കഥകളിൽ കൂടെ പറയുന്നതായി ആ പുസ്തകങ്ങളിലും തോന്നിയില്ല. ഇപ്പോൾ തോന്നുന്നത് ആകെ ഇദ്ദേഹത്തിന് ഉള്ള ഒരു കഴിവ് തൻറെ മാസ്മരികമായ ശബ്ദം ഉപയോഗിച്ച് ആളുകളെ ആകർഷിക്കുന്ന പ്രസംഗം നടത്താൻ കഴിയും എന്നത് മാത്രമാണ്. എന്തായാലും ഈ പുസ്തകം വായിച്ചതോടെ ഞാൻ ഇദ്ദേഹത്തെ സോഷ്യൽ മീഡിയ പ്രൊഫൈലുകളിൽ ഫോളോ ചെയ്യുന്നത് നിർത്തി. എന്നുമാത്രമല്ല, ഇതിനു മുമ്പുള്ള പുസ്തകങ്ങൾക്കും റിവ്യൂ എഴുതുവാനും തീരുമാനിച്ചു.

കഥകളുടെ കാര്യം പറഞ്ഞാൽ, ഇങ്ങനെയൊക്കെ ആർക്കെങ്കിലും സംഭവിക്കുമോ എന്നറിയില്ല. എന്തായാലും ദൈവം സഹായിച്ച് എൻറെ ജീവിതത്തിലോ അല്ലെങ്കിൽ എനിക്ക് അറിയുന്ന ആരുടെയെങ്കിലും ജീവിതത്തിലോ ഇതുപോലെ ഒന്നും സംഭവിച്ചു എനിക്ക് അനുഭവം ഉണ്ടായിട്ടില്ല. ആ ഒരു കാരണം മൂലം ഈ കഥകളെ ഒന്നും ഒരു യാഥാർത്ഥ്യമായ കഥയുടെ രീതിയിൽ ഉൾക്കൊള്ളാൻ സാധിക്കുന്നില്ല. ഇത്തരത്തിലുള്ള കഥകൾ സമൂഹത്തിൽ അത്ര പ്രസന്നമല്ലാത്ത മനോവികാസങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ടാക്കാനേ ഉപകരിക്കൂ. അതുകൊണ്ട് എഴുത്തുകാരൻ ഇനിയെങ്കിലും ഇങ്ങന���യുള്ള പുസ്തകങ്ങൾ എഴുതരുത് എന്ന് അഭ്യർത്ഥിക്കുന്നു.

ആ അനുഭവം ഉള്ളതുകൊണ്ട് തന്നെ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ രണ്ടാമത്തെ പുസ്തകം ആയ "സ്നേഹം കാമം ഭ്രാന്ത് "വായിക്കാൻ നല്ല ആവേശമായിരുന്നു....

ഉള്ളത് പറയട്ടെ.. ഓരോ കഥയും ഓരോ ഫീൽ ഗുഡ് സിനിമ കണ്ട പോലെ ഉള്ള ഫീൽ ആയിരുന്നു...

സഹ്‌ല, ശരീരത്തിന്റെ ശരികൾ, സംശയം... എന്നിവയെല്ലാം ഒന്നിനൊന്നു മികച്ച, നമ്മുടെ ജീവിതത്തിലും എവിടൊക്കെയോ സംഭവിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള അല്ലെങ്കിൽ നമ്മൾ എവിടൊക്കെയോ കണ്ടിട്ടുള്ള ജീവിതങ്ങൾ തന്നെയായിരുന്നു എല്ലാം...

ഞാൻ ഒരു ജോസഫ് അന്നംക്കുട്ടി ജോസ് ഫാൻ ആണ്! സ്വയം പബ്ലിസിറ്റി കൊടുത്തു വെയറുന്ന ഒരു അപ്പ്രോച്ച് പുള്ളിക്കില്ല എന്ന് തോന്നിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. സമൂഹത്തിനു കൊടുക്കേണ്ട ഒരു പാട് നല്ല സന്ദേശങ്ങൾ അദ്ദേഹം ഭംഗിയായി ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ട്.. ചെയ്യുന്നുമുണ്ട്...

സ്നേഹം കാമം (മോഹം) ഭ്രാന്തു ..ഇതൊക്കെയാണല്ലോ മനുഷ്യൻ. ഇത് ഇതിവൃത്തമായ 15 ചെറു കഥകൾ.. മണം & ആഘോഷം - കരയിപ്പിച്ചു!.

A wonderful book with short stories...depicting different emotions, situations and characters. I am sure most of us would have gone through similar circumstances or emotions or come across such characters at least once in their life.

The kind of positivity Joseph keeps spreading through his talk shows, radio shows and which was abundantly portrayed in his other two books is present in Sneham Kamam Bhranth as well.

Am sure to re-read again some time!

The author is brilliant in getting the pulse of the people, he understood that for to have more sales, a pinch of sex has to be added, so many stories in this have that in plenty. In Malayalam it may be called as Thurannu ezhuth". Hope he will not get carried away in the same fashion and wants to be knows as male Kamala Das.

Else the book seems really great with many touching and inspiring stories.

Martin, consisting of stories that are not interconnected and helps us to read in any order, shares the experiences of different souls, where we realise that there are people which can be kind, caring, abuses of different ways, psychotic, and emotional.

Raw, vulnerable, and disturbing writing. Characters range from white to black and all shades of gray. Appreciate the writer's deliberate attempt to break away from his own molds. My only crib would be too many writer-characters and the metawriting elements that slightly reduces the enjoyability and believability of fiction.

Each chapter is unique and captivating, and some of the stories will surely stay with you even after you finish the book.

A different book from Joseph. This is not a typical 'motivation' kind of book like his previous ones, but a collection of fictional stories whose contents are not so fictional. I really enjoyed reading this book. Kudos to the writer.
