This was everything I wanted the "Plantopedia" book to be, right down to the layout.

The start of the book has some general plants and information, then refers you to the section further in that covers the genus of said plant where is gives more details on how to care for the plant, including but not limited to, soil type, sunlight needs, natural environment info, water needs, etc.

My only wish is that this book was larger, covering more plants and a bit more info. But this is a good starting point for plant info!

Not ideal for anyone who doesn't live in a large house, but I picked up some good ideas.

I picked up Jack Kramer's book "Easy-Care Guide to Houseplants" at an Ace Hardware store when I was first attempting to grow some other houseplants besides the unkillable Devil's Ivy. As far as your basic guide to plant care goes, this is the stuff. I'm constantly thumbing through it when I need to figure out which plants would thrive best in a dark bedroom or a bright kitchen. Plus the photos are simply beautiful.

Some of the highlights of the book include decorating with plants, choosing houseplants, growing herbs inside, picking the right containers, raising and grooming, propagating and understanding plant problems. This handy book also gives you step-by-step instructions on how to build your own knockdown growing stand.
