What happens when a fae needs the help of a mortal?
The unique timber of The Elderwood is the backbone of Lucy's family legacy, and she always thought she'd follow in her brothers' footsteps and join the family business. When an arranged marriage threatens to shatter her careful plans for her future, she flees to the mysterious, endangered Elderwood, determined to prove to everyone that she's more than just a pawn who happens to be fae.
She can't save The Elderwood alone, though. Stranded in the mortal realm, Lucy must convince Micah to help her. Unfortunately, he's mortal and could care less about her and her quest.
Micah doesn't believe in love or magic. Why should he when life dealt him this hand? But when Lucy discovers Micah is the key to everything, she must convince him to help her before it's too late.
A really good start. I wasn't expecting to like this first novel of this series as much as I did. It was well written, with emotional moments that made me care about the main characters but also for characters who weren't even there (Abe and Vanessa). I like both characters and I'm intrigued about how the story is going to develop after that ending. I'm looking forward to reading more.
So this is the first book for this author (I took that into account in the rating) and I think it was very well done. The world has some really great elements (fae, magic, mystery, romance). I also think the author did a great job with the female main character making her feel both young (in fae terms) and older (in human terms). I really appreciated that because I feel it’s sometimes something authors miss when writing immortal-ish characters. I think the overall flow of the book needs just a little fine tuning but it was a quick, easy, and fun read. Looking forward to the next one!
This was a fun little novel! It's a short and easy read, but with a ton of set up for the next novel in the series.
I loved Lucy. She was spunky and also vulnerable, she had real emotions and reaction to the things she was experiencing while in the human realm- which I appreciated. I don't think all fantasy novels get that right.
Micah was brooding and sexy and just distrusting enough to give his relationship with Lucy some flair.
I think for a first novel, this author hit it out of the park. More people need to know about this series! There are a lot of unanswered questions, which has me running to get book two.

It's a small fantasy romance book. This is the first book of this author. ♡
I really enjoyed the plot, it has fantasy/magic, mystery, quick romance, closed doors. I became attached to a character that is only mentioned in the book (Abe), so it's pretty good. The last chapter is a little bit cheesy for me (especially with the change of Lucy to Lu in Micah speech). The characters seem to be more younger than it's written through the dialogue and some actions (Lucy has 112, but her physical body is like 25 itch, and I think we don't have an age for Micah, but he is a detective, so maybe late 20). I would say that they (or just Micah idk) are in their 20, not late 20 with a profession.
But it ended us wanting more, and I´m really excited to read the next one!
Long enough to start an impeccable story and short enough that I don’t fall into a reading slump! I cannot wait to read what happens next and I am so happy I found this book!
Absolutely loved the characters and the FMC is a badass. I love that shes not a weak female needing saving. Romance scenes are fade to black and not spicy but I don't mind that. I cannot wait for the next book!
Special thanks to @author.saheiden for the ARC copy in exchange for a review!
The book started out a little slow, but quickly allowed the reader to build a connection with the characters! Although at times the text felt a bit repetitive-Lucy stating multiple times what she was trying to accomplish for example, I did find myself rooting for our characters success! I was surprised to see the ending which moved me from being unsure about reading the next story to curious what may happen with Lucy and Micah next!!

This is a debut novel and the first in The Lumen Legacy series. I didn’t know what to expect in the first few chapters, and was really just trying to get to know Lucy, our Fae main character. She is strong willed, determined, and in dire need to prove to her father that she can do what her brothers are capable of. She does not want to get married off into an arranged marriage, so she takes matters into her own hands. She flees her realm.
At times the beginning felt repetitive, like she was almost talking to herself, to convince herself, that she CAN go to the human realm and make a mark for herself. I wish there was a little more back story into her life, before it jumped into her running away, but this book is on the shorter end, and develops the setting pretty well! The writer did a good job describing the scenery, especially when she is showing Micah all the things in nature he cannot ( or refuses ) to see.
Abe, her human friend in the mortal realm, was brought up a few times as she ran to find his cabin, but I wished for some flashbacks to really develop their relationship. The she meets Micah, a human, and things start to change. She needs The Elderwood tree, needs to recharge her amulet, and get back to prove to her father that being married to a strong, male Fae is not the only thing in her future. And of course, some things don’t go according to plan!
If you enjoy fantasy and magic, make sure to check it out!
This first book of the Lumen Legacy series expertly blurs the fine line between fantasy and reality! The strong characters and interweaving backstory sucks you in, catches your breath and leaves you desperately wanting more. Fabulous job on your breakout novel, S.A. Heiden ❤️
Rate: 4 stars 🌶️: 1/5 (closed doors with mentions of making out sessions and sex)
The Archer's Amulet is the first book of The Lumen Legacy Series and S.A. Heiden first book. It's a cute short fantasy novel that follows Lucy's and Micah's journey. Their journey takes them from the enchanting fae forests to the perilous mortal realm, testing their courage, determination, and self-discovery. Lucy's ultimate goal is to use an amulet to gain entry to the Elderwood and thwart the arranged marriage that jeopardizes her dreams. This thrilling tale explores the lengths one is willing to go to prove themselves to those they love and is a captivating blend of adventure and magic.
As we all know by now, I'm a sucker for books written from each of the characters' pov so I was surprised that I enjoyed this book so much since it's written from the third perspective. S.A. Heidin's writing style was really enjoyable and I connected to both characters more than I was expecting. Despite the fact that Lucy is 112 she is a bit immature in her immediate reactions/thoughts, but I guess 112 is early for a fae so it makes sense... What I didn't like so much about her was that she seemed kinda of condescending towards Micah. I get that she was really close to Abe, so it's hard for her to see his flaws, I also get that she knew the reasons behind some of his actions, but that doesn't give her the right to act the way she did sometimes towards Micah. Don't get me wrong, she needed to convince him to get on board with her plan so they could save Elderwood, and I 100% get it (probably would try to do the same). It was just the way she sometimes acted or talked to him that was a bit condescending to my taste. We don't exactly know Micah's age but from his job maybe mid/late 20. He doesn't really know how to proper communicate, but I don't think that's a big issue. We all have more or less problems in that department. Besides in my opinion made him more relatable and more human in a way. My "problem" with him is the 180º turn he does at the end of the book... It felt a little bit unrealistic and too fast, I would prefer a more subtle change that started a bit earlier in the book or maybe more pages in the book to make it happen idk... The book doesn't end in a cliffhanger, or at least not a big one, but it definitely ends in a way that makes you want to stick around and follow their next adventure. So I can't wait to witness Lucy's new powers and what will happen next for her, as well as what is in store for Micah's future.

Ok, if you’re looking for a shorter read that is rich in the sweetest character development, fae, magic and friendship then this is the one for you.
I really enjoyed the bowyer aspect and how this linked in to the Elderwood and Lucy’s journey to prove herself which ultimately turns in to one of self discovery and empowerment.
The character development of both Lucy and Micah is so wonderful to read as this brings our two main characters closer together as they discover more, and work together to save the Elderwood. Their relationship is sweet and it is evident through the writing that as time goes on they begin to care for each other deeply and accept each other as who they are.
For me it is the little things in this book, the way that names change to nicknames as the book goes on and how characters hard edges are slowly worn away to reveal their true softer personalities underneath.
That ending though! I frankly was not ready, and I really can’t wait to see what happens next. This book left me with more questions that answers and has me hooked.
I received an ARC copy of this book and can confirm that this is my honest review.
“Loyalty can come from a reliable pet, but love? Love ignites your soul. It leaves no room for question, because there is only that other person.”
I finished this book in two sittings! I was very curious about the fae reverse portal and wasn't disappointed! Heiden took two worlds and merged them together seamlessly. Not only is there arranged marriage and enemies to lovers, but we get to meet an epic fierce FMC who can wield a bow and arrow without thinking twice.
The writing is easy to follow. Unexpected plot twists are dropped, and just when I thought I knew where the story was going, a new arrow whizzed past me to lead me to another direction. I even read this book while cooking! Then you know it's unputdownable.
A specific scene was described, which reminded me of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, the Nintendo Switch game. So if you're played that game, this scene will come to life in a whole new way.
I highly recommend reading this book because it has fae, magic, hidden identity, and a touch of mystery. I really loved it!
Thank you to the author for gifting me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Beautiful Lucy has traveled into the human realm to avoid her father and an arranged marriage so to speak. She just has to believe in herself that she can do anything.
Micah is our wonderful human friend that Lucy meets when she gets there. He has the golden retriever vibes as they build their relationship. Slow burn was fade to black.
However with the Amulet’s power gone, Lucy is caught in the mortal realm with no way back. So she has to rely on Micah to help her through.
Recommended if you like: Fae FMC who is an Archer! Hidden Identity Mystery Magic More plot than Spice Zelda, Ferngully vibes Plot twists Arranged Marriage Enemies to lovers And more!
Lucy is a fae that travels to the human realm to prove to her dad that she can’t do anything her brothers can do. Plans take a turn when the human world isn’t as forgiving and she isn’t able to pull the help from her long time friend, Abe. Even from the beginning you can tell Lucy is looking like she’s going to be one BA lady fae. Quick read that leaves you wanting more by the end. The beginning was kind of repetitive but once I got into the story it was really good! Even in such a short book the world building is incredible and the way everything is described made me feel like I was watching a movie. Micah seems like a golden retriever but it totally works and this relationship/friendship they are forming seems like it’s going to be magical. I’m intrigued to see how the next book continues on and I’m ready to submerse myself more into these realms.
I recommend this book if you want a good quick read!! With it being less than 200 pages it flowed really great and didn't seem to have any missing holes that would leave you wondering for more info. The characters were interesting, especially Lucy. I am a sucker for an intriguing fae fantasy book and once I picked this one up I didn't put it down until all 186 pages were devoured!!
Lucy deserves so much more in life than what her society deems fit for females and I was really happy when it was proven that she's determined to live life to her expectations and not her father's. I was really proud of Micah's self growth along the way because I was worried there with the hot and cold atmosphere he held with Lucy!! I'm really curious as to what happens next and I can't wait to continue this series!!
When Lucy runs away to prove her worth in her family the last thing she thinks is that she will need a mortal human for help.
As her world turns on it’s head you get to follow along Lucy and Micah’s journey together in the Mortal Realm.
I absolutely loved this short fantasy read and I’m so excited to read the next in the series as Lucy’s fate is to be determined.
With fade to black romance scenes it is perfect for young audiences and adults alike. This book contains Mystery, a strong female lead, friendship, magic, and a connection to each character!
I would definitely recommend this to anyone needing a fun fantasy with a dash of romance!
Lucy is Fay and flees the fay realm because she doesn’t want an arrange marriage and wants to prove to her father that she is just as capable as her brothers. She meets Micah, a human, and needs to get him to help her save the Elderwood.
This is the first book in the Lumen Legacy series. It was well written and has fantasy, magic, mystery, and romance. The writing style allows you to get to know the characters and becoming invested in them which I love! I can’t wait to see what’s next! Highly recommend.
This was a lovely NA fantasy romance book. It was well written and kept me hooked till the end. The characters are interesting, the FMC is brave, witty and independent, the MMC is smart, loyal and caring. It includes mystery, magic, slow burn romance (fade to black), Fae, portals and adventure, and was really enjoyable. Hoping to read more of this series soon as it has lots of promise and themes to explore.
(I Received an Arc copy and would happily recommend this book to readers ❤️)
I was given an ARC of this book, my review is honest and voluntary.
Errr... its not allowed to finish there! That is too soon and unacceptable. Like I need to read more, and I need it NOW!
I can't tell if this was a good place to end this, or if its a way to force us to get the 2nd book as it wasn't really a cliff hanger as much as not finishing... a cliff hanger would have been like a chapter or so before, this felt like a bit more unneccesary content.
This was a delightful read and a great start to a series. I enjoyed the multi-realm concept and the world building. The pacing was great despite this being a shorter book. Lucy was an interesting and well written main character that can hold her own, I was pleased that she didn't fall into the obnoxious trope traps that tend to plague fae-based novels. I am excited for the next book and to see how this story unfolds!
This was a quick read that I really enjoyed, Lucy refuses to accept her world’s societal norms and comes up with a plan to change her fate. However when she portals to the mortal world and finds her long time friend has died and she is stuck she has no choice but to try to get her friends grandson to help her. I loved the world and characters. It ended on a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
The story of Lucy - a Fae - who lives in a backwards realm where woman stay at home, get married off, can’t have opinions. The author repeated a lot that fact Lucy had to prove herself to her father. Almost to the point I wanted to stop reading the book.
The book is part 1 of 3. It did have a couple of cliff hangers to hook you in for the next one but I’m not sure I’ll read the other 2.
I’m rating this a 3.5 stars. It was ok but I’ve enjoyed other Fantasy series much more.
We jump into the land of the fae and mortals in this lovely fantasy debut novel from S.A Heiden
All Lucy wants is to be involved in the family business of making bows and arrows and be the lead artisan/designer. Her family is the best in the business because they source their timber from The Elderwood, a special place in the mortal realm. Lucy’s father doesn't see her worth because she is female and decides to arrange a marriage for her with scummy lord Sloan. Wanting to save herself and her dream, she steals her fathers amulet and flees to The Elderwood to show her father her love and dedication to save the business.
With her amulets power depleted she is trapped in the mortal realm and relies on help from the grumpy Micah, grandson of the protector of The Elderwood who doesn't know or understand anything about his heritage, magic or love.
Overall great story! As a first time author I thought the book was well written and the world building was there. I would have loved more depth and details to extend the chapters and time spent with the characters. Some ideas jumped around quickly but you can tell that she has what it takes to continue writing a really good series. Can't wait to dive into the next book!

The Archer's Amulet is a great start to a new series! The story starts a little slow but once it gets going it turns into a story full of mystery, magic and some romance! The female character was one I really enjoyed! She's strong, capable and determined! It will be interesting to see where the story goes next! Thank you R&R Book Tours and S.A. Heiden for sharing this book with me!
I really enjoyed this book. I thought it was great for a debut novel. The fmc was a total badass, and the characters were easy to love. Solid world building and character growth. Can’t wait to learn more!
