Power Vacuum

Rate this book
In space, all that matters is survival.

Survival hangs in the balance for Renton Hicks and his fellow colonists on Moon Base Delta. They are blockaded by the relentless Xilinex Corporation and running dangerously low on supplies. Their only hope lies in two food capsules en route from Earth and a Martian colony ship carrying technology that could potentially secure their future.

However, in the unforgiving lunar landscape, every move is a high-stakes gamble. Guided by the advanced AI, DOA, Renton must outmaneuver Xilinex to secure the lifeline from Earth. He must also negotiate an uneasy alliance with the last remnants of the enigmatic SINO faction, along with building trust with the returning Martian colonists.

This third book in the riveting Moon Base Delta trilogy delves deeper into a future where survival hinges on cunning, trust, and the audacity to hope. This captivating tale of resistance, alliance, and survival against overwhelming odds will take you on a thrilling lunar adventure where the stakes are higher than ever.

A great end to the trilogy about political machinations when the colonists on the Moon are isolated from Earth due to a solar flare. Power versus survival pushes the various factions to action.

Lots of action. GREAT characters.

Recommended series.

The finale to the struggle over who controls the moon (and helium-3)

Moon Base Delta is the haven for "free" individuals who don't want to kowtow to Xilinis. Of course, Xilinis are not happy about this and so seek to blockade Moon Base Delta and eventually overrun them. Their last attempt failed and gave Moon Base Delta some captive few to bargain with for food which Earth managed to send up to Xilinis. However, Xilinis double crosses Moon Base Delta leading to a loss of lives. Then news of the return of a ship from Mars is heard which could contain a vault that would remove Linda's need for food from Earth. Moon Base Delta come up with a plan to get the food vault which could change everything....
Intrigue, suspense, betrayal, suicide missions, automated droids, plans, and drama abounds in this final novel. A highly entertaining read with a satisfying conclusion.

Who on earth (or at Base Delta on the moon) gets in bed to read at 10 p.m. with 125 pages to the end of the last book in the series. Lights out finally at 2 a.m. Fortunately my wife was visiting the grand kids so no one complained about the lamp being on. The last minute entrapment in the elevator shaft right down to the finger on the trigger was maybe a little iffy, but what we are used to with all media. So for now I’ll shift back and finish reading The Nightengale by Author Hannah. However, there is no doubt by mid summer, when I can rest on the chaise on the deck in the Midwest sun I’ll grab a cold drink, lotion, sunglasses and another of Author Kilby’s Series, limit my time mowing and just relax with a great book! I liked this book. Actually, I'll say it, I loved this book! Gerald M. Kilby has hit it out of the park. Pompodur Adarok has consolidated his power at the Axial Luxor Orbital - a type of hotel circling the Moon. He wants power so much he even attacks a ship coming from Mars. Meanwhile, the residents of Moon Base Delta are also trying to survive attacks from other colonists in outposts on the Moon. There is so much going on that one just has to keep reading for the excitement of it all. Sometimes I felt like I was right there on the Moon with all that was happening. Gerald M. Kilby has done a wonderful job with this book. Thanks for bringing me along on this journey.

This series will take you places you didn't know existed!

Reading this series was great. Many times I found that I had to force myself to stop so I could get some sleep. I only wish I could read faster so I could turn the next page. But, at 74 I needed sleep. Not like when I was 25.

But this is one of the great series to be read again. My only fault I would ask the author to correct is continue his series and give me (us) more. I'd sound lime an addict.

Read this series if you want to enjoy a great novel!

Satisfying conclusion to a good series

This was a pretty good tale in the mode of James Bond or Mission Impossible movies. Complete with doomsday stakes and an over-the-top megalomaniac villain, the intrepid hero and his ragtag band of survivors fight for freedom and self determination. There is plenty of action and there are dire situations throughout, as is the norm for the genre. This third and final book is notably improved in terms of writing mechanics and editing over its predecessors. Well done Mr. Kirby.

good read

Great story line, solid characters. My curse is being married to a woman who is a graphic designer/writer/author/ with a MBA in writing. Needless to say, I’ve done a bit of proofreading for her. Sadly, now grammatical errors disrupt my reading enjoyment. Please, proofread !

In the final book of the trilogy, the struggle for survival reaches its conclusion in a battle below, above, and around the Moon. The factions of power all attempt to dominate the resources available through any means possible.

As a classic SciFi saga, pretty well written and technically believable.

Exciting and enjoyable trilogy

The drama continues as the story wraps up .. No spoilers but always a little twist. Would have liked the 3He situation clarified but I guess we can assume it's resolved.

I liked this book, I really enjoyed the whole series. The characters were well developed and I found myself caring what happened to them. I hated to finish the third book because I didn’t want the story to end.

Great read

This was a great series. After how bad things were going from book two, everything turned around in book three. I love the characters, and the storyline has many twists and turns in it, and the ending was spot on

thrilling moon roller coaster adventure

Fabulous story. Twists, turns even u-turns, wonderful finale to the series. Excellent characters, showing their emotions. Certainly enough baddies to bring out the best in the rest.
Underdogs stayed in the fight.

Better than the Martian

This is truly the best sci fi trilogy I have read. It would make an excellent film as last as they don't stuff it up like the the Martian. Anyway absolutely enjoyed the read.

Conclusion to a really good story

Spread over three books, the story carries well with the full play of human emotions keeping the reader interested. Worth the read, and spoiler alert… you will find some very familiar names here.

Hope for humans

Good character development, good plot, likeable characters create a story of hope in an atmosphere of human incompetence and greed.

I’m wondering how

This story took 3 books to tell this tale. It had so much potential and it just petered out, the Delta moon base AI was way overhyped.

Kingdoms fall.........

The story continues, with determination on both sides, to the final solution for mankind. Where will this leave mankind? Onward and outward bound?

I enjoy all of his books and this one is no exception. It is a good end to the trilogy. But here's a suggestion... GET SOME PROOFREADERS!!! It is very annoying reading SO MANY ERRORS. I volunteer to do so should you have any interest in improving your readers' experience.
