About the author

In the past, Catherine Spencer has been an English teacher which was the springboard for her writing career. Heathcliff, Rochester, Romeo and Rhett were all responsible for her love of brooding heroes! Catherine has had the lucky honour of being a Romance Writers of America RITA finalist and has been a guest speaker at both international and local conferences and was the only Canadian chosen to appear on the television special, Harlequin goes Prime Time.

This was my second book by Catherine Spencer and I LOVED IT!!!
I missed an epilogue with a baby, but it was great reading in my opinion.
I will add it to my shelve of favorite books and I'm sure I will reread it soon ;)

When I started to reread the book I thought to skim the story, but I couldn't 🤷🏻‍♀️ The story is very good (in my opinion) so I reread the whole book again 🤩. Nice story, still in my favorites by this author

I miss the epilogue as always, but it doesn't matter, I believe in their HEA and I'm sure they had (in past tense because the book was published in 2006 😂) beautiful babies

Heroine chasing hero, a few hot & cold treatment from hero, no angst, kind of boring, thus 2,5 stars.

Natalie, an American girl, arrives in Naples to stay with her slightly eccentric grandmother, who despite running her own business well has turned formal and starchy in the company of other wealthy people in her small enclave. Natalie finds the construction worker in the dilapidated house next door interesting - then is told that Senor Bertoluzzi is in fact the owner, from a shady family and not welcome in other people's houses.

The more experienced man finds the girl attractive but knows he must stay away from her. He's got enough problems, having inherited the villa after years of keeping his nose clean and running a construction firm. Now he just wants to make the place habitable and fend off the offers of an unscrupulous gangster who wants to redevelop.

I liked both characters and the grandmother too, and thought the landscape which I have visited, was well described. This was a pleasant short read and I would read more by this author.

An OK book. Natalie falls head over heels for Demetrio, despite the mob family connection he has. Great sexy scenes, but the threat from neighborhood loan shark kind of peters out. It starts to be a part of the story, then just disappears.
