My Epic Fairy Tale Fail picks up shortly after the events of My Very UnFairy Tale Life. Jenny has grown since the last novel, and therefore is much less annoying. She wasn’t overly annoying in My Epic Fairy Take Fail, but there were a few points when she got on my nerves because she was so cheesy. The plot is more sophisticated this time around, and still has tons of action and adventure.

At the end of My Very UnFairy Tale Life Jenny found out that she could finally share her adventures with her friends. Because of this, Jenny is a more relatable character and the story as a whole really benefits from the addition of her two friends. Having real relationships with people in the human world has helped Jenny grow up.

Not only is Jenny more mature, but the plot has grown as well. Instead of being a somewhat silly (albeit engrossing) story about an evil clown, My Epic Fairy Tale Fail has a lot of twists and mysteries, as well as a story line that will continue into the next installment of the series.

My Epic Fairy Tale Fail is another page turner from Staniszewski. The plot is still filled with action and adventure, and it’s very hard to put down. This is a fast quick read that I would have devoured and middle school and can still enjoy as an adult. I am happy to see that the characters have grown and the plot has become more complex since the previous novels.

The book My Epic Fairy Tale Fail by Anna Stanszewski was an amazing book. This book is about a girl named Jenny. Jenny travels through magical kindoms defeting evil and in this book Jenny goes to The Land of Stories with her friends Jasmine, Trish, and Melissa. They have to face off an evil witch, but not everything goes as planned. Jenny thought that going to a magical kingdom was going to be fun, especially with her friends, but it was anything but fun. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading fantasy and needs a good book to read.

My Epic Fairy Tale Fail by Anna Staniszewski was a awesome book! The book is by the same author of "the gossip file " which I have recently read so if you enjoy Anna Staniszewski 's books then this will be your favorite book from her yet.It tells of a girl named Jenny who saves mermaids and other fairy tale characters, but when she gets a special mission everything changes and impacts her.Jenny the character is humorous and shows the real side of fairy tale land. While, she tries to go to the land of tales she tries to accomplish three tasks which seems impossible at first.Jenny realizes she is capable to take on her mission.I really liked the book b cause it mad me laugh several times and helped me imagine what it would be like to save fairy tales stories and characters. It might not be the perfect world for Jenny but I would LOVE that job.The book was different books that I have previously read so it was like a fresh start so I give the books five stars.I would love to meet Jenny in real life and ask her so many questions. Therefore, Anna Staniszewski did a great job writing the book : "My Epic Fairy Tale Fail".

Three and a half stars: A fun series for young readers that features a spunky heroine.

Jenny just wants to live a normal life. Go to school, a few dances and have real friends, but that is extremely difficult considering every time she turns around, Anthony the Gnome is popping in insisting she go on another quest to save some far away land. Today, Jenny is struggling to break up a mermaid war between the green tails and blue tails. Just when things are getting particularly nasty, Anthony comes along and tells her she can quit this quest as there is another more pressing adventure. Jenny groans, until she finds out that she is headed to the land where her parents were last seen seven years ago. Now she is incredibly anxious to get there to see if she can uncover the truth behind the disappearance of her parents. Luckily, Jenny gets a little help because Anthony is letting her take along her two best human friends Trisha and Melissa. Now the question is can Jenny save the Land of Tales from the witch's curse before all the magic is drained from the land and can she find her long lost parents?
What I Liked:
*There is plenty to love about this cute, fun middle grade book. There is magic, fairy tales, adventure and lots of mythical creatures and delightful world building. Any young reader will enjoy being swept away into the magical world of fairy tales.
*I love that Jenny is a spunky and resourceful heroine. She is constantly thrust into difficult, often life endangering situations where she has to be quick to think on her feet. Jenny must solve her problems with wits as she is a human without magic. In this book, she faces terrifying riddling trolls, monstrous sea creatures, an insidious witch and an impossible mountain. Not to mention the fact that the villagers are very trustful of adventurers. Jenny faces three impossible tasks and manages to come out on top. I like that she is spirited and she doesn't easily give up, even when things are grim. She is a positive role model for your young readers.
*This is a great coming of age series as Jenny at thirteen is beginning to discover all kinds of things about herself. Even though she complains about her adventurer life, I think she is learning that it isn't all bad and I am enjoying watching her growth.
*This is a quick easy read and it is age appropriate. I would recommend this series for young readers 8-13. It is clean and fun and has plenty of positive messages. There are also lots of funny and somewhat cheesy lines (the author even pokes fun at the cheeziness) so it should appeal to your young reader. Hand this to them with confidence as there is nothing to fear in this series!
And The Not So Much:
*I am constantly complaining about cliffhanger endings in the YA genre and I was completely disappointed to find a cliffhanger type ending with this book. Jenny gets to the end of her quest only to find out that the person she thought was behind all the evil in the land is not, and now she must now seek out the real culprit. Basically, Jenny goes on this quest and achieves her goals only to be slapped in the face with an "oh sorry you didn't get it right." I was expecting a bit of resolution and found that there was really nothing. The Land of Tales is still in disarray and unrestored, her parents are still missing and she must now track down the real villains. I just don't think that younger readers are as apt to stick with a series if they don't get an ending. I know as a younger reader, I would have been disappointed to read an entire book and not get the satisfaction I was seeking. The one positive at the end was that Jenny remains determined and she and her friends vow to help the people of the land learn to live without magic.
*Along with the cliffhanger, this book leaves remaining unanswered questions. As an older reader it is not an issue for me, but with younger readers they have shorter attention spans and I fear that not giving them satisfying answers may deter them from the series. If you are interested in these books for your young reader ( I still recommend them) I would likely get them together so once they finish they can move right into the next one without forgetting anything. Even as an adult reader, I struggle remembering everything between books especially if there is a long duration so I can see this being an issue with younger readers. Luckily, this is not a huge issue because the final book My Sort of Fairy Tale Ending will release in November 2013. So the wait is not long!

My Unfair Fairy Tale is a magical book with a admirable protagonist, Jenny, who will certainly appeal to younger girls. This is a series with lots of magic, faraway kingdoms and plenty of mythical creatures. I like that it has positive messages and especially reminds readers not to give up. I would recommend this series for younger readers, but keep in mind that not everything comes to a closure so it might be best to acquire them and read them all together to prevent frustrations with forgetting details. You can hand this to your young reader with confidence as it is age appropriate and clean.
Favorite Quotations:
"I'd never heard of anyone being turned into a rug. Suddenly the phrase "letting people walk all over you" had a totally new meaning."
"The first step so better times is to imagine them."

I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own and I was not compensated for this review.

Gets better with the second book, maybe because I had time for the cheesiness to grow on me (and I thought her friends were pretty awesome.) Jenny finds herself in the Land of Tales, the place where all fairy tales come from. Cute interpretation, from Hansel & Gretel's wish to the diamond mountain from the Princess who Never Laughed, and a the giant rooster. Jenny saves the day of course, and then finds out where her parents disappeared to, setting up the third in the trilogy.

This review first appeared on my blog at Thoughts and Pens.

I immediately jumped into My Epic Fairy Tale Fail after I finished My Very Unfairy Tale Life. I was really excited to accompany Jenny again to one of her adventures. In this second book, Jenny was assigned to go to the Land of Tales to help stop a nasty witch from draining all the magic of the land.

Just like the first book, My Epic Fairy Tale Fail offers another humorous and refreshing story. In the Land of Tales, Jenny were introduced to a new set of characters who are already familiar to us like the wolf in Little Red Riding Hood, Nessie the Lochness Monster, Sleeping Beauty and the Hansel and Gretel witch. What’s good is that Anna gave a new take to these characters which brought things to a whole new level of fun. Add the fact that there’s a significant development to Jenny’s character. She became sort of mature but still retained her spunk. But what really made me happy is that her friends, Trish, Melissa and Anthony the Gnome really joined on in the fun. Thumbs up to Anna for remembering these characters in this second book. They were really left out in the first book.

I also appreciated the fact that the villain of this book is a female. And the good thing is, she’s not the stereotype old hag witch. Anna really made a lot of effort to ensure that the overall series does not join the trope of fairy tales that saturated the market today.

Aside from the characters, My Epic Fairy Tale Fail has a lot of improvement when it comes to the plot. Compared to the first book, this one has a lot of story to tell particularly that it involved Jenny discovering a secret that could be the answer to her ultimate desire and trying to outlast a wicked witch. Though predictable, it was still interesting to read with its fast paced action sprinkled with fun moments and of course, lessons in life.

The world building also saw a significant development but I must say that it was still lacking. I expect more like maps and a bigger world instead of giving me this impression that the Land of Tales is just a subdivision where everything is a 15-20 minute walk.

Overall, My Epic Fairy Tale Fail is a perfect sequel to My Very Unfairy Tale Life. It wrapped up some of the loose ends of the first book and brought something new to the series whilst maintaining the main theme of the story. It’s definitely an innovator instead of a maintainer. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend My Epic Fairy Tale Fail to all Middle Grade book lovers.

My Epic Fairy Tale Fail is the second book in the My Very UnFairy Tale Life series for children by Anna Staniszewski. Jenny the Adventurer is back, and has come to terms with her magically manic life. Her new mission includes heading to the Land of Tales, otherwise known as the place that all fairy tales come from. It also happens to be the world in which her parents disappeared.
All she needs to do is defeat an evil witch by completing three impossible tasks, while keeping herself and her best friends alive. If she can succeed maybe Jenny can finally get answers about what really happened to her parents. Jenny has never faced a greater challenge, or higher stakes.

My Epic Fairy Tale Fail is a wonderful follow up to My Very UnFairy Tale Life. Jenny is more comfortable in her role, and responsibility she has to carry out her promises in the fairy tale worlds. She is very aware of the dangers, but does not let them stop her from doing her best to help others. Stereotypes of trolls, knights, witches, sea monsters, and just about every fairy tale character can be found here, and turned on their sides. Making readers of all ages recognize the archetypes, and how things are much more than they seem, is another great aspect of this series.

I liked that there is wit and humor throughout the book, while Jenny faces some serious struggles, even the darkest moments carry a thread of light and hope despite the seriousness. Balancing the humor with tough situations and danger, without making light of a particular character's issues, is a tough balance to maintain. however, it is demonstrated here. jenny has to face life threatening situations, while dealing with the realization that she needs her friends, but cannot protect the people she cares about from everything. Facing seemingly insurmountable odds, Jenny still puts others ahead of herself and acts like a real girl in the same situation might- and still comes out as a hero any young girls can both relate to and look up to.

I recommend My Epic Fairy Tale Fail to readers that enjoyed My Very UnFairy Tale Life. For readers age nine and older that enjoy adventure, fairy tales, and spunky girls that spout witty sayings when feeling threatened- I suggest starting with the first book and reading both. I am very eager to see where the series goes from here in My Sort of Fairy Tale Ending, which is currently scheduled for release on November 5 2013, and am a new fan of Anna Staniszewsk.

I am not sure whether you know this..but recently, I am craving for fun, light reads. It's like seeing some middle grade novel and I feel like I see a chocolate. I NEED to have it, no matter what, especially if it's some fun read. This novel sounded right up my alley.

Jenny is an adventurer. She has been one, since her parents disappeared seven years before. She is going to solve a problem, again. This time, it was in "Land of Tales", where Jenny's parents had last seen. The Council is sending her to solve a problem: an evil witch sucking all of the magic in "Land of Tales" and if Jenny doesn't complete the three impossible tasks set by the evil witch within three days, the magic will completely be lost. And so will be Jenny's parents.

The characters were so relatable; Trish and Melissa's (Jenny's besties) made me laugh at a lot of places. Those two were contantly thinking the more dangerous the events are, the more cooler it is. I can totally understand it. Being a fan of fantasy, that is how my brain works too. ;) Anthony, Jenny's gnome guide, who will anything for a candy, is adorable. And I love the "Sleeping Beauty" part in it; the author has some cool imagination.

Yeah, I didn't read the previous novel, but I have absolutely no problem in understanding this one. Actually it was pretty cute and simple. Have you read "Fairy-Tale Detectives" from The Sisters Grimm series? If you loved that, you will definitely love this one. And actually, I liked that this novel has more of a brighter approach..literally. I felt like I was out in the sun (told you it was bright) with Jenny and seeing her adventures (this is usual to all readers, as far as I know, but I can feel the environment part only in very few novels). This novel made me happy and satisfied and I cannot ask for more.

Perfect for kids! And adults who just love to have a fun read!

Waiting for more!

'My Epic Fairy Tale Fail' is the second book in a fun young adult series that shows us that fairy tales may be true, but they are far from perfect. Our leading lady, Jenny the Adventurer, is back this time and off to the Land of Tales - the place where all the fairy tales in the world came from. All she needs to do when she gets there is defeat an evil witch and complete three impossible and crazy tasks, without getting eaten by monsters, of course. If she's able to do all these things, Jenny might finally get some answers about what happened to her parents. She really can't afford to fail this time. Will she be able to do what needs to be done to save her parents?

This is a really light and fun second installment in a fairy tale themed young adult series. Jenny is a great lead character - she has a great attitude and personality and also doesn't give up - even though all the odds are against her. The setting of the book was really fascinating and I loved reading about the Land of Tales. It was another great setting for the adventures that Jenny goes on and I hope the next book has another great place for us to visit. The writing was well done and fast paced, so it keeps the reader engaged in the story and eagerly turning the pages to see what will happen next. This is a wonderful story and a fun and easy read - highly recommended for younger readers and YA fans who like fantasy and fairy tales.

Disclosure: I received a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

My Epic Fairy Tale Fail; is for adventurous drama loving people. The book was quit weird and strange when i first started reading the My Epic Fairy Tale Fail. Soon as I picked it up I knew that it was the book for me; I love reading books about drama adventure and mystery. When i saw the title i thought it was a girl that was a princess and it turns out to be a another Cinderella story. Jenny is one outgoing brave and never gives up a promise. Jenny has two life she has a normal and a magical one where she goes to magical lands and help the conflict or what every it is. The Magical land of tails is the your typical wonderland with lushes green carpet with basketball size flower. Once you get more into the village more mysterious thing start to happen. While Jenny is there she has her great be-loving friends Melissa and Trish with her. That believe that she accomplish the three goals, get the village back to the way it was again and to find her parents that have been missing for years. There are many characters form your typical fairy tale stories like the wolf, the man in armor, your bad witch and your princess. I favorite part of the story is when jenny met the witch Ilda, she not at all your typical bad witch. Good things can happen if you keep your promise and sometimes not.

My Epic Fairy Tale Fail by Anna Staniszewski is the second book in My Very Unfairy Tale Life series. It features the young adventurer Jenny, who has quite an extraordinary job. She's accompanied on her journeys by her guide, Anthony. Who also happens to be a candy-addicted gnome. In this book Jenny's guest takes her to a place where adventurers are not wanted. In fact they're loathed. However this time she is not going alone. She has her two besties, Melissa and Trish, with her. However this quest leads her down a path that can lead her to her missing parents. So, of course, she has to accept this mission.
My Very Unfairy Tale Life is a great series for middle graders. Jenny travels mystical realms solving problems for fairy tale creatures. She leads a pretty fantastic life, although it's not very glamorous. This is a great coming of age series for young girls. Through her travels Jenny learns all sorts of life lessons as well as discovering who she is. It's also a pretty clean series as well. For a parent, that's a dream come true. This is a book that will appeal to all ages.

I'm absolutely loving this series. And you guys, book two gets even better. You still have smart, fun, witty main character Jenny and she's on another adventure. This time she has to go head to head with an evil witch and on a path that can lead her to finding her missing parents. Since the second book is out about a year and a half after the first part of the series you can see a chance and a somewhat maturity in Jenny. She's still funny and witty, but you do notice a bit of aging. We're also introduced to two of Jenny's best friends who accompany her in the new adventure What I loved about this second part of the series is that there was a bit more mystery in it and lots of little twists that keep you guessing. I'm excited to read the next installment!

Both books are definitely easy reads, I read both books within two days. They're also filled with plots that makes this a great page turner and you know if I love it, kids in middle school will love it too!

It was so fun to jump back into Jenny's world. Anna Staniszewski has created such a unique idea and I just really enjoy this series. There is such a wonderful cast of characters, humor, and an awesome world.

I love the characters. Jenny is such a delightful main character - she is so lovely and fun. I love her attitude. It was fun to get to see more of Jenny's 2 best friends, Melissa and Trish, in this installment in Jenny's life.

The plot was so much fun! I enjoyed the plot of My Very Unfairy Tale Life, but I loved this one's plot even more. It was fun and adventurous. I loved seeing pieces of the fairy tales I know at work.

Another great novel from Anna Staniszewski! I cannot wait to see where Jenny's story takes her next, as the ending got me really excited for the next book. My Epic Fairytale Fail is a must read for anyone looking for a delightful tale. It's middle grade fantasy at its finest.

This is the second book in the Fairy Tale series by Anna Staieszewski. I like this one better than the first, which is not to say I did not enjoy the first one. Jenny, the Adventurer gets to travel to the Land of Tales, where her parents disappeared seven years ago. The land is about to lose all its magic in three days if someone does not finish the three tasks set before them by the witch that now rules the land. Her two best friends from school get to go along and Jenny keeps telling them that things are not this great, but in the Land of Tales, things look so much better than they have on any of her other missions, after all this is where all Fairy Tales started from and aside from losing its magic the three girls run into some amazing people. A fun read and a great set up for the third book.

Anna Staniszewski makes us laugh again with the second installment of the "Fairy Tale" series, which is just brimming with amusing characters and scenes. My favorite part, just a bit too long to quote here, is the scene in which one of Jenny's non-adventurer friends calls a troll they encountered "adorable" and the other asks him "Would you mind answering a few questions for me? I'd love to know a bit how you see your role in the magical community." The troll, of course, takes great offense and "in a surprisingly proper British" accent, protests being called cute.

All in all, a delightful read!

A fun follow up to Staniszewski's first book about Jenny, the Adventurer. This time, our friendly gnome shows up with an important job for Jenny from the Committee. She is to go and try to lift the curse in the real Land of Tales. The magic there has almost completely diminished after a long, seven year curse. Jenny has three days to accomplish three tasks set forth the by the witch, Ilda. I think most tweens (and perhaps my nieces, the purpose of this exercise) will enjoy Jenny's story, which is both fun and a learning experience for her.

The second book in the series, while still entertaining is a little more muddled in my opinion. I think it’s because the ending leads directly into the next book so book 2 & 3 are almost one longer story. Having said that the Land of Tales part is good. Plus Jenny gets to take her friends this time and they make for entertaining reading.

Another cute story by this author. It continues the series with a new adventure. I loved how the heroine is getting closer to finding her parents. The dwarf that helps her is a great character. He's so funny. Can't wait for the next book!
