Who lives in a house like this? Just about everyone. This is a title that will have the cleanest of neat freaks running for cover when they discover what they'll never be able to get out of the carpet. 'House Of Horrors' dishes the dirt on the secret life of dust mites and parasitic pet poo.
Nick Arnold is the author of the award winning series, Horrible Science and Wild Lives. Arnold's first published works appeared as a result of a project he was working on at the University of North London, when he was trying to teach young children. A positive review was written about him, and he started to write the "Horrible Science" books. His books are illustrated by Tony De Saulles.
Actually, I'd give rating between three and four stars for this book. This humourous science book is aimed at young primary school age children and is quite informative. Probably the idea of the Barmy Baron and his assistants is a bit ridiculous but like all the Horrible Science (and Horrible History and Horrible Geography series) it provides the reader with fantastic fun facts that you never learn in the boring science/history/geography lessons you get at school. Indeed, the presentation is quite unforgettable! I promise you you'll be squirming about the untold horrors that reside in your own house! BTW, the reason it took me three days is not because it's a long book; I just got seriously interrupted and could only read it in small portions.
Gruesome and gross - everything children enjoy. I remember being a fan of these books when I was younger and much like Horrible Histories they have a good variety of different texts and quizzes. Ideal as a supplementary read.
