This book is based on a seminar originally given by Liz Greene in 2005, entitled ‘Chiron in Love’ because Chiron’s story is most clearly and poignantly enacted in our most personal exchanges with the people closest to us. It includes a background of mythic material about Chiron that can help to shed light on the interaction between Chiron in one horoscope and the planets and angles in another. In 2020, during the height of the Covid pandemic, Liz gave three further online seminars to explore the relationship between Chiron and the global outpouring of helplessness, fear, rage, polarisation, and apparently obsessive determination to find scapegoats that has emerged as a result of the pandemic and its psychological consequences. Sections of these more recent seminars have been amalgamated with the original seminar, resulting in a broad spectrum of themes all related to the central core of Chiron’s myth and meaning.
Liz Greene is held in high esteem by astrologers all over the world, professional and non-professional alike. She is a prolific author of books and various publications and has been instrumental in shaping modern psychological astrology.
She holds doctorate degrees in psychology and (as of 2010) in history and is a qualified Jungian analyst. She also holds a diploma in counselling from the Centre for Transpersonal Psychology in London, and a diploma from the Faculty of Astrological Studies, of which she is a lifetime Patron.
You can't go wrong with a Liz Greene book and I thoroughly enjoyed this one. These seminars include the myth of Chiron, Chiron in synastry, composite, the family and as scapegoat, with great example charts including Freud and Jung, the royal family, Elvis and Tom Parker, Depp and Heard and King Edward V111 and Wallis Simpson. I had much to highlight and re-read and I also enjoy her responses to the audience such as: 'I'm not saying that at all. Please try to listen rather than reacting without thinking and immediately putting words into my mouth. You're giving us an excellent example of what I've just been talking about. I'm sorry if I've inadvertently put my finger on a wound. But please don't misinterpret or reinterpret what I've been saying.' Go Liz!
I like Liz Greene’s books written in lecture format. Audience questions and Liz’s answers help us to dive into the depths of the psyche without getting overwhelmed. As a person participated her seminar and webinars, I can say that the book is very much reflecting her style. The examples are chosen meticulously (although I fed up the charts of the British royal family). Through this book I have the chance of knowing about the English singer and song writer Nick Drake. While examining his chart I listened his first album ‘Five leaves left’ and I literally adored it. Comparing his chart with Steven Spielberg who has the same Moon Chiron conjunction in 5th house in Scorpio squaring Leo Saturn in 2nd, she says ‘ I can’t explain why one of these immensely gifted individuals failed to cope with the darkness in life and the other transformed that darkness into a constant inspiration for creative work’ Well-crafted and a must read book for every astrologer.
First I was a bit sceptical of the book, because I read an article for the forthcoming book that Chiron's wound never healed.
But I started to read it from day one of releasing the book and it turned my perception. Now I got a Chiron aspect and lots of the things resonated to me. I was really impressed to view the different faces of Chiron from different versions of the myth and from different pictures and artefacts of British Museum, which I recently visited.
Also the other part with charts of Jung, Freud and relation between them, royal family charts and Chiron-Sun aspects were facinating!
The part of Composite chart made me consider, pay more attention and focus more on the Chiron when I look at composite charts.
It's must read book for the astrologers! And of course, Liz Greene is a great author, which knows how to touch your soul.
Reading Liz Greene offers stoic insights on the universal experience of suffering, which can be soothing, especially to the troubled mind and broken heart. She is treasure, really.
the "students" in this seminar, irritated me. They seemed so aggressive towards Liz Greene and sadly, took away from her greatness. Anyway, per usual, I learned a great deal!
