Froggy is going to the doctor for a checkup, and he's feeling a little nervous. "What if the doctor wants to give me a shot?" he thinks. He worries as he dresses and then he can't sit still in the waiting room. Finally, it's time to go in and change for his exam, but . . . OOOPS! He's forgotten his underwear! And that's just the beginning of Froggy's hilarious doctor visit that ends reassuringly with a gold star and a lollipop.
Jonathan London is the author of several celebrated children's books. His commitment to honoring the wonders of the natural world has been lauded by readers and critics alike. He is the author of more than 70 children's books, many of which are about nature. He's also the author of the popular Froggy series. He lives in Graton, California with his wife and two sons.
So. Funny. At one point, I had to stop reading this because my nephew and I were laughing so hard. I hope the Froggy series never ends. This might be the funniest book in the series so far.
On one hand, this book made me scared thinking of all the times mommy and daddy have taken me to the doctor. On the other hand, this book gave me some good ideas on how to prank Dr. Ross. Mom better not try to stop me.
This was really funny, it will definitely make you laugh! It's an interesting book for letting children know that going to a doctor's appointment is nothing to be scared of :)
Froggy is a young frog who is nervous to go to the doctor because he doesn’t want to get a shot. His mom takes him to his appointment, and he realizes that going to the doctor’s office is not as scary as he thinks.
While this book is funny for young readers, it shows Froggy misbehaving at the doctor’s office, throwing paper airplanes in the lobby, and yelling into the stethoscope. I don’t want this book to encourage poor behavior at the doctor’s office. However, despite Froggy’s misbehaving, this book is a great way for parents to teach their children about going to the doctor, and how it is okay to be nervous, but once they get there it is nothing to be scared of. The setting and character are shown greatly in the illustrations of this book. As readers, we are able to see exactly where Froggy is, whether is be at his home, the waiting room of the doctor’s office or in the exam room. I love the characters in the book and how they are portrayed as frogs. Many of the books in the Froggy series will have young children laughing and wanting to read more.
1. Not applicable 2. Prek-2nd 3. Froggy, a little frog has to go to the doctors for an annual check-up, just like kids. He is excited to miss school but them scared to go to the doctors. He goes to his appointment, acts a little silly, and ends up realizing that it is not scary. Froggy ends up liking going to the doctor's office. 4.This is a good book because young children can relate to Froggy. Through a different perspective, they learn that it is okay to feel scared about the doctors but at the end of the day it is not so bad. It is important to go get check ups even if you are not sick. 5. -Learn more about health by discussing parts of the body. Could read an informational text about the body or learn songs such as the "Head, shoulders, knees, and toes" song. -Learn about hygiene. Discuss ways in which how to take care of oneself and avoid getting sick.
In the book, Froggy goes to the Doctor, it was about how Froggy went to the doctor. He did not want to go to the doctor’s office. He was worried about going to the office because at the doctor’s they give out shots. At the doctor’s office, the doctor did a lot of things to Froggy, he got a lot of tests done. It was kind of a long day for Froggy. My overall impression of the book, is that the book is a good book. I like how the story tells a story of how someone in real life can be about the doctor. There are two literary elements in this book. They are character and setting. The setting is at a doctor’s office. The other element is character and the characters in the story are frogs who have human features
When going to Dr. Mugwort for a checkup, Froggy gets caught without his underwear?
You know, underwear that goes beneath his black shorts. Complementing his red-and-orange striped polo shirt. Am I the only reader who thinks that's the funniest part of this story?
1. The doctor has probably seen plenty of naked bodies. More than, say, your typical camp counselor.
2. What's wrong with a frog wearing a naked body? If Froggy weren't so heavily fictionalized a frog, he'd be naked all the time.
Not to mention he'd never have a checkup with a physician at all.
Sometimes the contrivance of having animals as thinly disguised stand-ins for humans can become downright ridiculous.
Froggy's mom wakes him up. It's time to get ready for the doctors. He is nervous about getting a shot. His mom says he will be fine. He does to the waiting room and sees his friend. Then he gets called to see Dr. Hogwort. The doctor did a basic check-up and he was healthy. This is a good book to read to children that might be scared to see the doctor. It reassures them that the doctor's office is a safe place. You do not get a shot every time you do to the doctors. Children can also relate to Froggy's ways of thinking about the doctor. I think this is a good book for parents to read to their children.
The Froggy books are my favorite from when I was a kid! Froggy Goes to the Doctor is a humorous story that will keep kids (and adults) laughing and engaged. The use of onomatopoeias in the book also add to the overall quality, especially since they are words that children are able to sound out. The story could be very useful in preparing children for a checkup or teaching a unit on healthy bodies in school!
So many problems. Froggy not having ears is a problems. The "humor" is slapstick and not great for reading to little boys as they want to emulate what they read. Also the no underwear and wearing a diaper was pointless and upsetting to me. I found it very unrelatable and unhelpful for kids fearing the doctor (seriously, the doctor threatens a shot because she's angry?!?). Even my 3 year old boy couldn't get into this and it's for his age group.

"Froggy Goes to the Doctor" by Jonathan London is a comforting and relatable children's book that addresses the common fear of going to the doctor. Through Froggy's playful and humorous antics, young readers are shown that going to the doctor can be a positive experience. The colorful illustrations by Frank Remkiewicz add to the overall charm of the book, making it a great choice for children who may be nervous about their next doctor's visit.
I like that this book adds humor to something that a lot of kids struggle with, which is going to the doctor. The illustrations are detailed and they are eye catching. The story comes full circle with Froggy’s feelings about the doctor. The sound effects that are written into the story make it a great read-aloud book that would work well in any classroom grades K-3.
This is a great book for kids. Kids end up going to the doctor for checkups or when they’re sick. Usually they worry about what will happen at their visit. Froggy visits the doctor and has a bunch of worries along the way. A funny read you’ll enjoy about Froggie’s doctor visit.
I love this book and this series of books!! This one particularly I think would be a good book for the classroom because it can help students who have fears of the doctor or nurse.
The writing is clever, good and funny! This is just an enjoyable read right here. I think it's good fun for a kid or adults who knows a little about frogs.

I loved reading the Froggy series as a kid. The Froggy books can teach you a lot about different things. In this book Froggy is nervous about going to the doctor but after a while he realizes that there is nothing to fear. This book teaches students how to overcome their fear and that things might not be as bad as you might image them to be.
Froggy goes to the doctor is a funny book about a frogs visit to the doctor. He is having to go for a checkup, but he is feeling a little worried about it all and really nervous he might have to get a shot. After having a hard sitting still waiting to be call back, it is finally time to go in and get changed into a paper gown for his checkup. But…. Ooops, Froggy forgot his underwear. That is not even close to all of the hilarious things that happens on Froggy’s doctor visit. He makes a few mistakes, which causes the doctor to almost fall or fall completely to the floor. In the end Froggy gets a gold star and a lollipop. He is reassured that the doctor might not be so bad after all! I love this book for young children because it is a book that every little kid can relate to. It is also a fun book that keeps young readers engaged. In my classroom I would have this book set aside for my students to read on their own time but I would also like to read it aloud. Reading aloud is very fun and this book is a great example for how to read when you approach a sentence with an explanation point. For example, when it says “FROOOGGY ITS TIME TO GET OUT OF BED!” You can say it with a lot of force to indicate the strong feeling that Froggy’s mother has for him to get out of bed immediately. Over all this is a great book that will for sure make you laugh in the end.
