Captain Awesome and Nacho Cheese Man must protect their town from a haunted house in this Halloween-themed adventure.
The town of Sunnyview is ready for Halloween, and Eugene McGillicudy and Charlie Thomas Jones can hardly wait to go trick-or-treating! But when the boys encounter a spooky house on the edge of their neighborhood and rotten Meredith Mooney tells the lunchroom that the house is haunted by the Sunnyview Spirit, things get serious.
Captain Awesome and Nacho Cheese Man know it’s up to them to keep their town safe...especially on Halloween! Will our heroes prevail even when an unexpected visitor may change the Sunnyview Superhero Squad forever?
With easy-to-read language and illustrations on almost every page, the Captain Awesome chapter books are perfect for beginning readers!
When Stan Kirby was 6-years-old, he tied a beach towel around his neck and became Super Commander Beach Boy. He tried his best to protect sand castles from the waves, keep seagulls away from his French fries, and keep the beach clean.
When Stan's not creating the awesome adventures of Captain Awesome, he loves reading comic books, eating okra, and hang-gliding (but not at the same time).
This is one of the best of the series that we've read so far. Spenser absolutely loved it. This is the rare kid's book series that delights little ones while making parents smile.
Eugene and his friend Charlie have formed a super hero club after their favorite super hero. Eugene is Captain Awesome and his friend Charlie is Nacho Cheese Man. Their jobs are to get rid of all of the evil, bad guys in their town. They found a scary, spooky house that is the perfect house for their super hero club to take on. Can they figure out what the scary sounds and sights are coming from the haunted house? And who is the mysterious super hero that saves them?
The story flows smoothly and quickly. Young readers will appreciate the suspense and fun plot. The black and white pencil illustrations on every page are age appropriate and fit perfectly with the style and story line. The clues in the story are well placed and the vocabulary is right on target for the age of the intended audience. My seven year old son read this book and loved the story and illustrations.
I received this book free of charge from Children's Lit in exchange for my honest review.
I think this book will appeal to 2nd and 3rd graders, easy to read, the kids are the heroes and it is funny! Another series of books to recommend to struggling readers. They are easy to read and have pictures and words! I read this in 30 minutes, so a fast read.
Fun book about two boys who created the Sunnyview Superhero Squad to protect their neighborhood from evil doers. This adventure takes them into super spooky house on Halloween. Pictures on every page to help early/reluctant readers stay engaged.
This was the first Captain Awesome book I read and it completely sold me on this series. It's super fun, exciting, and great to read aloud. I love the over-the-top dialogue and most of the stories are pretty good.
