An interesting way to look at problem solving. Go outside the square and start digging there; you may be surprised at the solutions you find.

The classic introduction to "Lateral Thinking". The book that really does change the way you think about problems. The newish science of thinking about the thinking process is clearly outlined and quite inspiring. If you want to find out how to make water run up hill and what to do if you find yourself in a deep hole this is the place to start.
